Strengths:
- Space Turbo: Gives a boost of speed that can be very convenient in all sorts of situations.
- Recharge Time: The turbine does not reload quickly, depending on the location and speed of the ship the recharge time varies. Interceptors, if mounted with this, would require two minutes to recharge if flying at maximum speed. Freighters or small frigates would usually require from five to ten minutes depending on their speed.
- Not Universal: It can only be adapted to ships of size not greater than 80m.
Description: Designed on the principals of the normal turbine or more specifically what is known as a turbocharger (turbo) that is used in internal combustion systems. Adapted to space where there is constant output of radiation of all sorts, the Space Turbine harvests the particles and transforms them into useful energy for a boost of speed.
Tinkerers can modify the Space Turbine in order to collect energy for normal use (recycling the energy harvested into fuel) rather than a 'burst of speed' effect that it is created for.
The sizes of the OR-2SM come proportionate for the type of ships that they are purchased for so they can accumulate enough reserves of energy for that size of ship and create an output for the burst of speed that would be actually useful for the ship.
The speed boost tends to last 5 seconds and is equal to a 70% speed boost.
