Or Something

Walking out of the Freeworld Gym, Ra wondered what prompted her speak up inside. It wasn't like her to do something like that. While she wasn't having second thoughts or anything, she was curious as to what the rest of the evening had in store for her and Nathan. Having plans for at least a drink though was a good start.

She walked almost silently next to him. Turning her head Ra looked over at him. In this light, they appeared to be the same age, but her white hair made her look older if you looked at them from behind. Her movements though were not that of an old woman. One would see she walked with the straight back and with full confidence, this was one woman not to tangle with. Her eyes watched everything around her and would be prepared for anything.

Turning her head to look at him before speaking, she wonders what he is thinking.

"So have any ideas of where to go?"

This is Coruscant, her home. If he didn't know of any place, Ra was sure she could think of some.

Now that they were out on the streets Nathan was back into hunter mode. Eyes tracking back and forth, hands staying close to his weapons, a hard set to his eyes telling others to stay away.
"I only know of one bar and that's the bar at the spaceport, I doubt you'd want to go there. You probably know this planet better than I do." Nathan says with a chuckle.

"Ha yeah I know quite a few places, Nathan."

Her eyes sparkle with ideas.

"I know nice ones and mean ones as well as those in-between. Personally, I'd rather go to one of the more established places. Already done enough fighting for now."

Looking around them again to get her bearings, she struck off in the direction of place she had in mind. If he looked at her face, he would actually see that she displayed a smile along with the sparkling eyes.

Keeping watch on their surroundings and less on Ra, Nathan missed the sparkle in her eyes and the smile on her face. In fact, he was caught a little off guard when she suddenly changed direction and headed off towards the destination she had in mind. "Woah, no need to rush. We got all day." Nathan said with a smile as he jogged back alongside Ra.

Not knowing she had picked up her walking pace, Ra slowed down when [member="Caburkad"] drew it to her attention. She turned her head when he did and saw that he was smiling a little.

Trying to make small talk and not really having a clue to a topic, Ra picked up on the thought she had on her mind. She looked at Nathan as she spoke.

"Why do you think there are emotions?"

Whoa! Where did that come from? It's not a question that normally crossed her mind, but for some reason it did now and that question just popped up.

"Wow. And here I was taking you for the strong and silent type." He said a little taken aback but laughing nonetheless. "That's a pretty philosophical question for a simple walk to a bar." Turning his head to look at her, he took a minute to contemplate his answer. When he did speak it was a little hesitant at first. As if he wasn't entirely sure that it was the right response. "I think. I think that emotions are here to help us to remember our time here. That they help us to categorize and sort all of the crazy things that happen in our lives. After all, what really is life if not just a collection of emotions? The happy and the sad, the exciting and the boring. The stronger the emotion, regardless of what it is, the better we can remember what it was like at that time." Having said his piece Nathan turned his head back forward and went back to his usual scanning of the crowd.

His first comment made her chuckle a little, "yeah I'm normally a silent observer. Making a decision on what I see around me instead of just jumping into things."

Nathan's opinion was different, but still very valid. Ra had never told anybody about her past or her first memory, but now that he pointed it out, she was sure she remembered it because of the emotions around her even if she didn't remember how she felt.

"I never thought of them that way, Nathan or the fact memory and emotion were tied together."

She looked at the ground a moment before looking at him again.

"I keep my emotions close and chose not to show them. Is that bad?"

[member="Caburkad"]

"It's not bad. Some people chose to display their emotions for all to see. They decide to share those emotions with the people around them. Others chose to look inside and keep those same emotions to themselves. They don't need to share to take solace in the feelings. So no, I don't think it's bad."

Again Ra wondered what had prompted her question in the first place, listened to Nathan's answer while watching the area around them. They were getting close to the small tavern she picked for the evening. Walking up to plain looking door with glass windows on either side, a sign above the door stated the name of the place was The Del.

"What do you normally do?"

She paused to ask this before opening the door. Inside the place clean with some game tables off to the side and places to sit- tables and booths as well as stools at the bar which was at the back to the room.

Looking around, Ra saw a couple of people just getting up from one of the booths and motioned she wanted that spot to one of the servers. When the people left and the table was ready, they were lead over to it and asked what they wanted to drink.

Knowing this place had one of her favorite drinks she ordered that.

"Generally I play things close to the chest, so to speak. Besides, growing up their weren't many people around to share to anyways."
As they approached the bar and stepped inside Nathan made of mental note of the patrons, staff, windows, and exits. Old habits died hard after all. Entering the bar brought back some fond memories with his father. The smell of ale and the main bar full of beings of all races looking for a few moments of bliss.
When they did find a seat and the waitress came to take their order, Nathan told her, "I'll have whatever the lady's having. Thanks sweetheart."

The waitress gave [member="Caburkad"] a little of an odd look, but wondered off to get their drinks. Ra also chuckled a little.

"I'm not sure you're going to like what I ordered, but you never know."

Pausing a moment before speaking again, her eyes altering color to suit her mood. They remained golden, but around the iris a brown circle formed and within, little green flecks appeared. Ra was unaware her eyes changed color as nobody had ever pointed it out to her.

When Nathan answered her question, she nodded in total understanding.

"There were people I could have talked to, but nobody I trusted. Growing up here, I didn't have friends."

"Coruscant does seem like a tough place. Just the amount of people alone was overwhelming when I first touched down. As for the drink." He chuckled. "Variety is the spice of life. Besides, if I don't like it you get to have a free drink."

Changing topics Nathan decided to mention something that had been bothering him since he first saw Ra. "So Ra." He started off with as casually as he could. "How do you get your eyes to change like that. Implants, contacts, all natural? I gotta know."

"Hey a good point and then you can order something you do like."

Ra chuckled a little too and looked across at @Caburkad. He seemed to be pausing before speaking, like he was thinking on how to phrase whatever he was planning to say. His question truly surprised him and she raised her eyebrows in a reply to show the surprise.

"I have no idea what you're talking about. My eyes are golden brown."

People have different eye colors and hers were just one of the many variations.

He looked at her a little skeptically. "Really?" He said with doubt in his voice. "No ones ever mentioned to you that you're eyes changed color? I mean, now they're gold and brown but earlier they were angelic solid gold eyes. I swear." He guestered with his hands for emphasis.
It was right at that moment that the server came back and placed the two drinks in front of the two. She came and went without Nathan even truly acknowledging her or the drinks, so focused was he on the conversation at hand.

Ra shook her head as an answer to him and smiled just a little at his skepticle look.

"I swear on my parents graves, wherever they are, that nobody has ever told me my eyes change colors."

Their drinks arrive and Ra picks up hers. It's a a dark red color with foam along the rim. Taking a sip, she waits for [member="Caburkad"] to do the same and looks to see what his reaction is. The drink is a fruit beer and very sweet with a touch of tart from the cherry flavor.

"Nobody has been with long enough to notice or cared to mention it."

"Well, they certainly do. It's the most interesting thing I've seen all day." He says to her with a smile.
When the drinks came Nathan stared into his red drink for a minute before picking it up, tipping it to Ra, and taking a sip with a hearty "Bottoms up". Strangely, it was actually quite pleasing. The fruity flavor a nice change from the wheats flavor of most other ales. So with a somewhat surprised expression he said, "Hmm, not bad. Not bad at all."

"Is that good or bad?"

Ra tilted her head slightly backward and to the side as she asked and took another sip of the beer. She was really surprised Nathan liked the drink. When she first tried it, she had been told it a feminine drink and most guys would spit it out. Only a few liked the sweetness and tart of it.

"This is the only place here I know they have this drink."

Setting her glass down again, she looked across at @Caburkad. Placing her arms on the table, keeping one hand on her glass, she thought for a moment about what to say.

"I'm sorry if I surprised you with the question on the way here. Walking sometimes makes me think of strange things."

"Good." He said and smiled over his drink. "I like interesting. And as for the drink," He raised the glass for emphasis. "I guess I'll have to remember this place in the future."
He took another sip of his drink before setting it down on the table and grabbing the glass with both hands.
"I'll admit, I didn't expect the conversation to get that deep but it's not a problem. In fact, it was nice to have a meaningful conversation for once."

"Well, that's good. I wonder what triggers them to change color?"

Ra gave [member="Caburkad"] a half a smile and took another sip, savoring the flavor. Things could get a lot more interesting and with Nathan given time. The thought flitted across Ra's mind for a moment, but she kept it to herself. They had just met, had a spar and now sharing drinks. Besides, she had no clue if he thought of her in any way special.

"I find it sometimes difficult to talk to people."

"I'm not sure. But it's certainly something worth thinking about."
Taking a swig from the colorful drink and closing his eyes to savor the fruity flavor, Nathan smirked at Ra's comment.
"Seems to me that you're talking to me just fine."
