Orbalisk-B-Gone

"The patient is in a critical condition. Unless we could somehow remove the orbalisks within a few hours, she only has that long to live" the doctor told Yula, while she is lying flat on a bed with orbalisks all over the place.

"Then I would like to send out one last holo-message before I die" she told the emergency room technicians, with a few pain moans or screams interrupting it.

"I can't refuse the wishes of a patient on what could possibly be its deathbed"

That sortie on Malachor V was one of the worst nightmares that could possibly occur to Yula: while she - did - defeat a gang of orbalisk poachers, she got out of it with orbalisks all over her body. But orbalisk venom would take just a few hours to act on the body, melting the cells away. For this reason it was a miracle that Yula would even survive the trip to Voss from Malachor V, given that she had very little dark side energy to keep those orbalisks alive. Hopefully the Silver Jedi won't attempt to whisk me away into a jail cell once treatment ends. She was almost about to pass out from the pain, so she had to speed-type whatever message she could have once the datapad is in her hands, using what energy she could conjure from the depths of despair. The doctor watched as Yula did her best to type what she could with an orbalisk on each palm, while simultaneously screaming with one of the nurses proof-reading and copy-editing what Yula did manage to write on the datapad before she passed out from the pain. With the Silver Temple being within earshot of the emergency room, they should be able to get someone there in time to save her.

Dear Silver Jedi Order,

If you're reading this, I'm on what could possibly be the last moments of my life. I would be grateful if some member could perhaps remove orbalisks off my body: the doctors in the emergency room have no clue what to do to remove orbalisks off a patient. When fighting off some criminalized orbalisk poachers on Malachor V, orbalisks ended up all over me. That said, time is short, given the nature of my medical emergency.

P.S.: There is a shipment of seized orbalisks right in the cargo hold of my craft. Handle with care: it would be best not to let Force-users, and much less other Dark Jedi, near the shipment of orbalisks. Also protective gear is recommended to handle the orbalisk shipment.

Without hesitation, the Silver Jedi would welcome the poor girl to Voss for treatment. While the Silver Jedi had the reputation of being more of a peaceful bunch than many are active sects like the New Jedi Order, they still put a lot of work into the study of Dark Side artifacts and mutants for the development of proper countermeasures. Dealing with the removal of Orbalisks was something right up their alley.

Presenting herself as healer and physician under the cover of Jadis Branco, she was able to work her way onto the surgery team that would be treating Ms Knezevic upon her arrival on Voss. A perfect opportunity to expand her skills in the field, she had offered as her reasoning, as just about none of the junior healers such as herself had ever encountered Orbalisks, much less those attached to a host.

Knezevic's vessel was directed to rendezvous with the surgery team aboard a medical carrier in geosynchronous orbit over Voss. While more than willing to help, the Silvers didn't want the Orbalisk planetside, and they were worried that the crew might be carrying some other nasty things within their hold. It was best to err on the side of caution in these sorts of encounters. Upon the designated deck, a hasty quarantine was established in advance of her arrival, Jedi and Rangers moving around in hazmat gear.

The space ambulance that brought Yula to the Triage has docked in geosynchronous orbit over Voss. Because of the orbalisks attached to her body, it was understandable if the personnel on that deck was wearing hazmat suits, including but not limited to, Jadis Branco. Orbalisks were dangerous business, even for NFU or light-sided personnel: even though orbalisks would not latch on NFUs, and they tend to force the FU hosts down the dark side provided there is any dark side aura to it. She was screaming in pain, and unable to use the Force, with the rest of the cargo inside the cargo hold, representing the whole of the stuff seized from these poachers on Malachor V. So she was brought to one of the surgical wards where quarantine is being effected, and a sterile one at that. But the volume of her screams have decreased, due to her having screamed in pain in nearly every moment she was awake while en route from Malachor V.

"The patient has arrived, Doctor Branco" the triage nurse wearing a hazmat suit told another member of the medical team.

"Secure the cargo hold of that ship: while the patient apparently seized them from poachers, we cannot let them anywhere near here" a Jedi Healer (that wasn't Jadis) told the security guards. "Oh and put the patient under anaesthesia: any experimental method that has any chance of success will require the patient to be anesthesized"

Before the any of the crew were let off the ship, a team of YVH-2 droids, remotely guided by trained sensor operators, was deployed to provide a thorough sweep of the ship's interior for containments while also securing Knezevic in a Rescue Pod for safe keeping. The expandable life-saving pod, developed by one of the Silver Jedi's own, would effectively keep Knezevic and the Orbalisk latched onto her in a state of suspended animation for as long as it remained powered (indefinitely when hooked up to a power generator), giving the surgery team ample time for interviews and experimentation on some of the other Orbalisk before proceeding with the operation.

After Knezevic was sealed within the pod and carried out, the rest of the crew would be able to follow after clearing a bioscan from the YVH-2 droid's powerful sensor suites, fine-tuned for tasks just like these against other biological threats like Vong biots. From then on, the droids would proceed to conduct their sweep of the ship, section by section until they came upon the cargo hold. Orbalisk were indeed found there as promised by the crew, but thankfully nothing else. The Orbalisk would be carefully sealed in tanks, then carried out to the lab area for deeper analysis.

Before interviewing the crew, they were treated to some refreshments and offered a chance to take some rest. At this point, Knezevic was no longer in critical condition as long as she remained in stasis for the time being.

Once the crew was settled, Jadis would be present to ask her own questions about how they had come to acquire the Orbalisk in the first place. Of course, the Silver Jedi would like to know in order to monitor the sites for Sith/Dark Sider activity, but she really only wanted to know for herself. There was much the alchemist could do with a whole colony's worth of the buggers.

OOC: [member="Suravi Teigra"] Your source of orbalisks is the following thread: Malachor V: Day of the Free Festival (Open to All) - 36 posts, where Yula visited the following areas, all of which were submitted by Darth Abyss, in that order: Spheres of Ash, The Blessing and The Tainted City.

IC: With Yula in stasis, Jadis was going to question the remaining people that worked with Yula onboard: because Pixie and Daisy are unable to use the Force, orbalisks would not be able to latch on to them. Due to the highly hazardous nature of the substances, undoubtedly a few questions would be raised as to where the orbalisls came from. These were not everyday's pests and the quarantine crews knew it. Oh and Daisy, Pixie both ate the refreshments given; she had to understand that these were quite different from the meals served in the airbase on Alexandria, but were more similar to what Julie mandated for recipes. To the two of them, the cookbooks in use by Darth Maladon and Julie Jutland (usually campaign recipes were decided at the squadron level in the navy or divisional level in the army as far as the Commonwealth is concerned) were quite different, and the two crewmembers were a little too eager to answer Jadis' questions about the source of the orbalisks, with Daisy being markedly fatter than Pixie.

"Yula was fighting a band of orbalisk poachers on Malachor V: if what Yula had to say about orbalisk poaching was correct, the poachers travel to Dxon or Kintan and then breed the orbalisks at the desired site" Daisy told Jadis.

"I'm a little concerned, though: Yula seized the orbalisks from the poachers' breeding facility on Malachor V, but she is always one to talk about the numerous kinds of dark-siders out there"
