Blaster/minor saber resistance - with the use of a layer of armor weave in uniform it has aloud the user a decent (not immune) to energy based weapons like blasters and lightsabers. Although it's not advised to be hit by either because the wearer will still be injured but not to the extent they would without it.
Comfort - time and effort went into hand selecting the materials for the uniform, to insure the wearer will remain comfortable in it for long periods of time.

Durability - The uniform is known for general wear and tear and will need replacing often if not well looked after with respect.
Clothing - this uniform isn't designed for the battlefield even with the armor weave. Run out into the fight in this you might as well have a body bag with you. Chances are you'll need it.
Description:
A New Republic, A new uniform.
To insure a professional look to the military a uniform has been created to allow the public to identify the men and women who serve their government. uniforms promote a sense of team spirit and a sense of belonging. This, in turn, can improve the persons productivity. Not only that but they help instill a sense of pride and responsibility too. While it does eliminate individuality among those who wear it, it shows everyone they all share a common purpose. A purpose to protect and improve safety for the citizens of The New Republic.
The tunic is made from Worsted wool and armor weave. the top layer is the wool. Worsted wool is a compact textile that is smooth. Wool is a natural material, which means it breathes well, and can be worn both in the sunlight or the cool temperatures of the night. It is soft and wrinkle free allowing to keep a professional look. Under the wool is a layer of armor weave. "Armorweave is an armored cloth material capable of dissipating blaster bolts, and with at least limited resistance to lightsaber attacks."
The epaulette for the male uniform are made from aurodium and silk. While they serve no real purpose it is merely a design feature. The females epaulettes are made from worsted wool with aurodium in it's centre. The belts also differ for gender. The males belt used mostly aurodium and duranium with a small button to release the buckle. The females belt uses mostly leather with an aurodium buckle.
Next are the shirts that are very standard made from voile for it been soft against the skin. The trousers are made from
corduroy and a thin layer of armor weave. Corduroy is also a very standard material for uniform trousers. Finally the boots. They are made from black leather with rubber soles, duranium toecaps and jute laces. Now you know the ins and outs of your new regulation uniform.
