Weaknesses :
Oren is at times, a surprisingly naive person. He has fairly limited knowledge of, or understanding of, the greater universe around him. He has read about the Jedi, but never seen one in-person, he now lives as a working-class refugee in the Mandalorian Culture, but he still lacks the same perspective most of the universe would have regarding the Mandalorians. This naivety will at times leave him clashing with the more experienced views of others, and he may not always understand the larger implications at work. He also feels very out of place in strange and foreign environments.

Dealing with the forced eviction from his homeworld, a self-driven desire to continue to protect his family, Oren has closed himself off to his emotions and focuses on the daily work he has in front of him. Because he is so closed-off, he at times will come off as humor-less and distant to those he doesn't know well. He isn't one to form attachments of any type beyond a surface level.

APPEARANCE:

At 6' 200lb's Oren Renn is no slouch, and he comes with a strikingly, imposing figure behind his size. He's worked outside in the fields his whole life and his skin is tough, reflecting the exposure to the sunlight. His skin is also scarred in places, again reflecting the type of work he's taken in less-than-austere environments.

BIOGRAPHY:

Born on the tranquil, agriculture world of Dantooine to parents, Arijus Reth & Elys Renn, Oren Renn inherited from his family a strong work ethic & a deep sense of morals to serve as a guiding light. Growing up on the family farm, daily, hard work was the norm and as he aged, Oren learned the skills needed to fish, trap, and hunt- all cultural norms for a typical child on Dantooine. With farming being a generational talent on the abundant planet, it was also his parents who showed him all aspects of agriculture- from planning and planting the next crop seeding, to the final harvest. Not strictly limited to agriculture, his family also possessed a healthy supply of livestock, for which constant care was needed. It was through the daily interactions with these creatures he began to learn more regarding medicine and how to properly care for the veterinary needs of a livestock herd.

When they weren't out competing to see who was the better shot by being the first to fell a beast on the plains of Khoonda, Oren and his sister were likely at home studying an educational curriculum based around the Galactic Common Core under the watchful eye of their mother. As they grew older, Oren and his sister were often asked to accompany their father to town where they would assist in the selling of goods to off-world traders, especially Oren as he was the eldest. Oren suspected it wasn't just to learn more about the family business and the basics of commerce, but because the traders would often pay more to a man with a family; Oren voiced this opinion to his father on a ride home once, and his father had just smiled and given a small nod quietly. Arijus Reth was like that sometimes. Quiet, he was the type of community leader who never aimed to win an argument or further his own particular position over another, but instead he always seemed to find the proper solution. He was always a respected calm-head and Oren loved that particular trait of his father.

As Oren moved into the ages of twelve and thirteen, his tasks on the farm went from the helper, to that of a true ranch-hand. He could milk a bantha, wrangle a fiery-tempered bossi, or work the soil and tend to the fields at twice the productivity and half-the-time of any of the in-and-out, hired help which would come through. Not that Oren minded, he knew he simply had more experience on their farm doing it their way then these people did. Even the experienced hires who would come back once every two or three seasons, just lacked the experience and full immersion of doing it in day-in and day-out in the same way Oren and his sister did each day. For the more friendly of the stable-hands, Oren would even work fast enough to help finish portions of their work, in exchange the quid pro quo of his sister and he being gifted stories and news of far away places on the other-side of the galaxy.

As time moved on, the off-world traders began to bring darker and darker stories with them regarding the rest of the universe. Of course, they never spoke about this with Oren or his sister but, as they would quietly tell his father, Oren would secretly listen-in and catch bits and pieces, as children often do. Oren would also over-hear his parents discussing things in hushed tones, conversation clearly for just one another, or occasionally joined by the long-time, seasonally reoccurring, Twi'lek Ranch Hand, Alema'Sek. This continued for what seemed like a year when finally, in 03:851ABY when Oren was 14, Arijus Reth made an announcement to the family over dinner. The first part of his announcement was that Alema'Sek would be staying for an extended period of time to assist with the crops and the farm. The second, was that he would be going off-world and enlisting with the Galactic Alliance. The silence echoed throughout the room, but it was Alema'Sek who broke it with elaboration that the Alliance was in desperate need of soldiers and was offering financial assistance after an extended period of military service, including credit bonuses. Oren was dumbfounded, not understanding why his father needed this. Oren's sister of course, didn't fully comprehend, and Oren's mother, Elys, had clearly already known of the decision, and she had simply put on her strongest face for her children, and tried to make the best of it with remarks that 'It wouldn't be that long, and that they were going to enjoy some peace and quiet with their father gone'.

After that dinner, Arijus had gone outside with Alema'Sek who was giving him a ride to the star-port, and Oren. Turning to Oren, Arijus looked his son in the eye and told him to make sure he took care of the family while he was away and that he was a great farmer who would have no trouble in his absence. Finally, Arijus told his son he was proud of him, hugged him, and flew off into the distance. Oren, could only stand there and watch the speeder disappear, and even then, he spent a long time staring out at the night horizon.

Day to day life continued however, and Oren and Alema'Sek comfortably handled the ranches responsibilities while his father was away...that was, until Alema broke his leg in a freak accident with an unusually riled up Bantha. Now, faced with an important decision to make, Oren felt he had no choice but to go to work in the local mines, as not only would it would pay enough to hire a second ranch-hands' wages but, given the Foreman was a long-time friend of Arijus's, it would also allow Alema access to better health-care coverage as supplies were becoming increasingly rarer.

Applying his same work ethic to the mines as he did the farm, Oren quickly progressed and became knowledgeable in mining operations. The Foreman was an experienced man who took a liking to Oren, and taught him much during his time by providing specialized tutelage to the boy. Oren meanwhile, would finish his grueling daily work in the mines and try and get home to accomplish a bit of farm work before the sun finally went down. Usually as dusk approached, the air would be filled with the sounds of Oren pulling weeds, and Alema'Sec, from the porch, stringing off a series of curse words in Twi'lek regarding his bad luck and more often, regarding his broken leg. Oren would just smile as he came inside, dirty and more then a bit tired from the day, and he would just say to Alema that, 'these things happen, like an occasional maluvian herd sickness, and that you just couldn't let it bother you.' Still, the work was hard, of that their was no question.

Another two years of this continued until one day, when Oren was now 17 and the year was now 04:854ABY, Oren received life-shattering news. His father, who had become a Ranger in the Alliance, had perished. Oren was unable at first to comprehend his fathers death, but it was his family and the community outpouring, which eventually helped to enable him through it. As shattering as his fathers' death was, life on the farm continued, that was always the constant-the work to maintain the farm never stopped; that is, until 10:558ABY when war came to Dantooine. The Sith Empire had slowly taken over more and more planets inside the sector, and they were planning on attacking Dantooine next. The horror stories of the Sith being so well-known, Elyse made the decision to evacuate the family. It was Alema'Sec however, who provided the means. He had been able to obtain three priority class tickets on one of the few flights still available.

At the space-port landing pad, Oren attempted to convince the Twilek to use a ticket. Alema'Sec insisted however, that Oren use it and go with his family to a Core World where it would be safer for all of them, or failing that, to a Jedi, as the Jedi have always protected people from the Sith. Alema'Sec explained that he has his own smuggling contacts and that as an individual it would be easier for him to get off-planet, he would be OK he had said. The Renn family thanked Alema'Sec for his noble sacrifice and boarded, intent to leave the planet for new space. Before Oren boarderd however, Alema'Sec explained to Oren that joining the Alliance, and joining the Rangers specifically for their expedited family-mobility process, had all been planned from Arijus. Alema'Sec had informed Arijus of the Sith Empire's rise to power and impending conquest, information he had gleemed from other traders throughout space, and Arijus had felt that the Sith Empire were too dangerous to simply stay on the planet in the hopes of not being attacked. Oren thanked Alema'Sec for giving him the knowledge which had eluded him all these years- the why behind his fathers intentions -and wished him all the best and safe passage. Alema'Sec said his final goodbyes and told Oren, that he had become his fathers son. As the shuttle lifted off, Oren stared out the window and knew in his heart that Alema'Sec was right, and that he was going to continue to be his fathers' son.

In fleeing, the Renn family had been hoping to travel to the Core Worlds, or one of the planets controlled by the Order of the Silver Jedi. However, en-route their ship was forced to make emergency adjustments and they were forced to seek safe harbor at the planet Xudax, on Orbital Garrison IX. Once landed, Oren was forced to navigate an unfamiliar and unfriendly, packed environment. Unable to find additional transport, the Dantooine refugees as they were being considered, were now slated to be mixed into Xudax population centers. However it was through the opinion of a Mandalorian official, that the mining experience Oren had would be better suited for Westralia City on the planets Westralis Major & Minor. After several days of being in standby, Oren was able to move himself and his family to Westralis. Now in 600ABY, Oren has settled in Westralia where he makes use of his trade-skills while he continues to adapt to life inside Mandalorian Culture. Mandalorian Clan Australis takes a more balanced approach towards outsiders, and it allows them to be productive workers without fully adopting the Mandalorian Culture. However, being an aruetiise is never easy, even with the more modern ways. And Oren is not blinded by the Mandalorians ever-protective, ever-present ground and naval forces, as he knows all-too-well the Sith will be coming...
