Miss Blonde

Trying to be straight in a crooked Galaxy
Miss Blonde was back on Demonsgate to meet with a client who was a lawyer in the Republic, now normally as a criminal you don't meet with lawyers looking to do the right thing but in this case this was the wild space part of the galaxy, the place you go to get what you need done. So it was time to get down to brass tax and see what exactly this lawyer wanted done, which honestly intrigued the crime lord wondering what they wanted with phrik in the first place.

"Waldo, please message my next guest and inform them that we are ready to receive them." Miss Blonde said as she sat down at her desk.

Booting up her holotable the woman sat back in her chair and would await the arrival of her client, she did enjoy the thought of hounding the man over his need for the ore however it was against Syndicate policy. No questions asked, no answers given, things were meant to be discrete after all.

"Okay Mister Rei lets see what you got." Miss Blonde would then pull up the man's file

Matthew was waiting in the hall when the man with a red and white beanie showed up to take him to see [member="Miss Blonde"]. Of course, he couldn't see the head wear, let alone the color, so the reference was only caught by the writer(s). He stood up, followed Waldo, swept his cane from side to side across the floor and went inside to the office.

He walked over to her desk, offered his hand and said,

"Greetings, Miss...Blonde. You wanted to see me?"

Miss Blonde was busy when Matthew walked through the door, understandably so due to the fact she was prepping everything for another phrik run. So when the man took a seat at the other end of the table she had a work order in front of her that was being filled out. Today would be enough phrik to get them through the week, about six to nine hundred pounds of the raw and unrefined ore that would likely transfer to about five crates worth of ingots.

So filling out the various lines of the order, Miss Blonde gave it the last John Hancock then sent it down to requisitions to be processed. And once that was done she could have CMD-32 begin the movement towards the mountain range.

"I ask myself, what does a blind man need with a concealed interchangeable Durasteel staff? Personally I just find it interesting, however when that same blind man returns asking for phrik and another custom order I begin to wonder what exactly they are up to." Miss Blonde said as she continued to work on her table.

"Then again that's none of my business now is it. And if remains to be none of my business then all I need to do is take the money and facilitate the request." Miss blonde would then get a ping from her holotable.

The requisition form was complete and now all she had to do was get 36 moving and they would be in business.

"So now the two questions at hand are does this need to become my business and what can I do for you?"

Matthew started to bite his lip a little. If this was a city worker or a pedestrian, he would have given them something that didn't truly answer their question or brush them off. However, he knew who he was buying from. [member="Miss Blonde"], one of the shadier people upside Rogue Nation. She was not someone to be trifled with. Brush her off or get caught lying to her and Matthew was surely going to face the consequences; some time and some day. The best aversions to the truth were like bacon wrapped shrimp: You needed to surround the truth with a darn good cover story. That way, they focus on the bacon and don't worry about the truth.

"If you must know, I'm trying to make a deal with someone. Judging by the strange requests, I suspect the man to fancy himself as an Oriental connoisseur of sorts. However, what I get in return is well worth it, I assure you."

He smiled. That second bit wasn't the best bacon, but he hoped that she would eat it up anyway.

"That's really all there is to it. What I would like is what I'm prepared to pay for."

Miss Blonde gave a humor filled scoff at the man's story and shook her head as she continued to work. Pulling up the droid manifest and information sheets the woman activated CMD-36 and started to run through its diagnostics, everything looked to be in order and the droid had received the oil change it needed since the last time she was here. So by the looks of the droid everything was ready to go.

"Listen we both know that's not true due to the fact that the staff ordered from our company was designed to look like a blind man's walking stick. Now personally I don't give a hot crap about what your excuse is, and like I said we pride ourselves on discretion here. So as long as this doesn't become my problem we can continue to have ourselves a mutually beneficial relationship." Miss Blonde was a Crime Lord and this Matt fellow seemed to be an upstanding citizen who was willing to get a little dirty to do the right thing.

"So I'll ask one more time before I have you dragged out of here and left to fry outside. Is this going to be my problem? And if it's not what exactly can I facilitate for you today?" The woman said with a very deadly intent in her voice.

Moving back to working on her table she pressed a few keys and the sound of a large metallic beast groaned and then roared as it activated from the droid docking bay. Patricia would start the process of getting everything where it needed to be now all she needed to know was how much phrik this guy needed, and what custom order he wanted done with it.

Matthew frowned.

"I wouldn't know exactly what it looks like. I just sent in the blueprints when I placed the order. However, thank you for giving me a good description. As for the phrik, I also want to have that turned into whatever's listed on this datapad."

He pulled out a mini datapad, of which only contained instructions for a light weight phrik suit order, leaned forward and carefully placed it on her desk.

"The deal is that if I make good on these two orders, I'm going to get the information I need to crack open a cold case. Will my client be a problem? I haven't a clue, but he doesn't seem like the type of fellow who goes ape crazy when he gets new toys. But, you can be rest assured that he is far, far away from you and your operations here."

"Whatever you say Mister Rei, whatever you say." Miss Blonde said with a little chuckle.

Taking the datapad she inspected the basic design of it and could see areas where it could use improvement, a plate here or a plate there, cover vital organs while maintaining protection. Overall it would take about four to five KGs of phrik to get it done. Which honestly wouldn't be a problem to get done, all she needed to do was line some mesh with ballistic shields.

"So Mister Rei, your total should come out to about twenty thousand credits. But because I like you I'll make it an even ten, you seem capable of paying it."

Moving back to her table the woman sent the CMD unit towards the mountains. With a heavy stomp a few glasses of water shook and rippled as the Droid thumped its way out into the hot volcanic wasteland that was Demonsgate. After a few minutes the machine was out and making the thousand meter trek towards the mountains. It would only take a few minutes from the massive size of its steps but it would have results soon enough along with the phrik needed.

This was one tenacious female. Judging by the occasional clink of metal on her desk when she moved her hands, he took a shot in the dark and guessed that she was married. He had to respect the alpha male that it took to rein in such a woman. He slid his hand down inside of his jacket and pulled the slim credit chip card out of a smuggler's slit in the lining of his jacket. He offered her the card and folded his hands.

She...likes me. When dealing with unsavory people, a comment like that could be swinging one of two ways. They're sincere and are displaying a simple act of whimsy...or they're trying to get you off guard. The best thing and, really, the only thing to do...was to smile and wait to see if you ended up on your ship or in a volcanic crater. So, he smiled.

"Thank you very much, ma'am. Now, how long should I expect to be here?"

"I'd say another thirty minutes at the very least." Miss Blonde said as she focused on her table.

With a smile she watched the overview camera of CMD-36 finish the trek to the mountains. Once there the massive droid began to pull itself up and climb the phrik rich mountain until it found the perfect sweet spot of a phrik vein with its scanners. Miss Blonde fandango'd a few buttons and they were in business.

The massive spikes of drills attached to the droids forearms plunged into the phrik vein and started to break up the precious metal ore. Once it had drilled itself in the machine would scoop out the broken pieces and roll them down towards the collection area where they would soon be picked up.

"So how goes the lawyer business? I'd imagine well if you can afford this." She said with a chuckle.

[member="Matthew Rei"]

"Well, there's more to it than that. I've been taken on to help the Republic in more dire situations. I recently helped the Republic to broker peace and neutrality between the Mandos, Pubs and Alderaanians. The Republic likes to take care of their own. So, that means I have enough buying power to swing batter-batter on the other true side of my job life."

"Without work from the Republic, you probably wouldn't see me here today. Most places I've gone to work, the payment is made in barter: food stuffs and home baked goods. Had a guy use a whole, live nerf for trade, once."

He smiled at that memory.

"It stank to high heaven...but, he was particularly needy."

"Republic got you on retainer do they?" Miss Blonde said with a small chuckle.

"Maybe I'll look you up if I get in trouble." She gave a playful wink then checked her holotable.

The status report was that the droid had hit a sweet spot on the ore and was ready to climb down and collect the ore it had let drop to the base of the mountain. With a loud mechanical roar the massive droid climbed it's way down and began to steady itself upon the volcanic stones of the planet.

Smiling miss blonde watched from the droid's camera system as it started to collect the ore into its storage chambers. The phrik haul today wouldn't be all that great today, and this was purposely so. Miss Blonde had a few plans in mind for her friends and she wanted to make sure she was set for it.

Her company needed to expand and she was ready to do so. All she needed was a few contracts and she could expand operations to the masses.

"I'm there when I'm really needed. I'll always try to help where I can, but...sometimes, I'm particular about cases that I take on. Is that just playful small talk or are you hinting that you are or will be in need of legal help?"

Other than [member="Miss Blonde"], Matthew tried to focus on other aspects of the room. It was impressive in an operational kind of way, but not very noticeable in terms of blind observation and Force Sense. Based on the amount of time it took him to ascend up to this floor via elevator, he guessed that there was a large window behind Miss Blonde's head and that it held a very nice view of the outside world. That view and her winking sadly went unnoticed.

He started drumming his fingers against his knee. Matthew thought it was harder to wait for things when you were blind, but that was his own biased opinion...

Miss Blonde chuckled at the man's words and looked at the blind man with a playful smile. The day she took legal council from him was the day Demonsgate froze over and pigs fell from the sky. Not because he was a bad lawyer, no she had heard how he handled himself on Alderaan. It was because once you dipped your hands completely into her world they never got clean, sure you could buy some armor but that was nice and legal. No Miss Blonde would rather protect the man's innocence than see him become like her.

"First rule of being a criminal, Mister Rei. Don't hire criminal lawyer, hire a CRIMINAL lawyer." Miss Blonde chuckled again then checked on her holo table.

The massive beast of a droid finished up its run and now returned to the loading bay of the refinery, it dumped the phrik ore on the ground and Miss Blonde was rather pleased with the results. Everything turned out great and she could get started on the process of having the armor crafted. She wouldn't need to do it herself, all it was going to be was some mesh here, a bit of lining there, and small light plates scattered across vital areas. Lightweight and mobile while offering a decent defense.

"Oh, I'm not so sure about that, Miss Blonde. I've defended my fair share of nasty criminals. Zealots, rapists, murderers, smugglers, you name it. I give the system its fair dues and the criminal ends up where they belong...most of the time. If they beat the system...then, I have to hope that someone else beats them."

Of course, he did more than hope. He would stalk them down and make sure they were caught with their illegal trappings for good or make sure they'd have a hard time getting back into the mix for good.
