- Upon impact the Thermate-TH3 mixture is ignited by the magnesium igniter strip creating a reaction that burns at a temperature of approximately 2500 degrees Celsius making it capable of burning through or melting most types of flesh, rock and metals
- Burns Hot: When ignited, the Thermate-TH3 mixture housed within the round burns to upwards of 2500 degrees Celsius which allows it to melt through many different types of metals, rocks and tissues
- Difficult to ignite: Because the Thermate-TH3 mixture is so difficult to ignite, often times the magnesium igniter strip does not ignite the mixture. Due to this, approximately 1 in 3 of rounds that are fired do not ignite upon impact
In an effort to curtail the growing threat posed by the Bryn'adul, scientists as Obsidian Star developed this Thermite Incendiary Round in an attempt to provide the forces of the Silver Jedi a long ranged weapon that could exploit the weakness to heat that some species within the Bryn'adul suffer from. The 10mm round is almost completely encased in durasteel and contains three main chambers. The first chamber, located at the back end of the round contains an explosive primer and black powder, which is used to propel the round when fired. The second, middle, chamber contains a mixture of metal oxides and other chemicals that when ignited can burn to an excess of 2500 degrees Celsius. The third and foremost chamber contains a magnesium igniter strip that is used to ignite the mixture contained in the middle chamber upon impact with its target. Upon successful ignition, the round burns in a small but extremely hot reaction that can melt most types of metals, rock, and tissue.
