- Manufacturer: G.E.A.R. | Didact Defense Solutions
- Model: OSI-00 'Observe, Study, Infer'
- Affiliation: Didact Defense Solutions | Itash Mecetti
- Modularity: No
- Production: Unique
- Material: Bits and coding.
- OSI is focused on observation, collection and processing of vast amounts of information. With access to the HoloNet it can detect and extrapolate trends with extensive algorithms, before presenting actionable information to Didact Defense Solutions. From stock opportunities to underworld shifts and more, OSI is a valuable linchpin in Didact's information brokerage operation.
- Powerful: OSI is advanced and expansive in its reach. It can process vast amounts of information in a relatively short span of time and deliver valuable intel to Didact. It is capable of predicting new trends in a limited fashion by utilizing models crafted through its observation.
- Autonomous: Unlike virtual intelligence and other droid-level programs OSI is highly independent and does not need analysts guiding its executive directions. It is capable of shifting through information and present it in an easy to use format to Didact.
- Adaptable: OSI is capable of shifting its directive and parameters when necessity commands it. This ensures that in an ever-changing Galactic environment OSI remains competitive and evolving.
- EWAR: Cybersecurity was one of the pillars on which OSI was designed and programmed. It is quite competent in defending itself against slicers and other rogue AIs.
- Stationary: Unlike many AIs OSI is reliant on powerful hardware and access to expansive HoloNet hubs. Moving OSI takes time, effort and extensive planning. This means that in emergency situations the AI must be purged because of its sensitivity. While back-ups exists, they will lack the experience and expertise, forcing renewed efforts to expand itself.
- Specialized: While OSI is capable of adapting and growing, it is still primarily build around handling information. Unlike other AIs it is incapable of efficiently handling other tasks: you won't see it become a master tactician or deftly organize facilities under its control within a short span of time.
- Ion: While its mainframe has protection in the form of recessed ion buffers OSI is still vulnerable to ionic bursts and similar types of damage. At the low end of the spectrum it might be forced to shut itself down, at the high end it could be severely diminished if not completely destroyed.
The information brokerage world is small, but potent. It was decided early on that shifting through the vast amounts of data that might be profitable was a daunting task that would cost a lot of effort, which doesn't even go into the costs of it.
Instead of hiring a dedicated team of analysts, the decision was made to design an AI that would be constructed around similar pillars of importance.
Its directive would be the observing, studying and inferring on the data streams it had access to. This meant that it wouldn't just watch for trends, it would study existing ones to predict new ones. This was a field that has already been explored in the past, but an AI designed entirely around this pillar is still a rare thing indeed.
For this reason OSI is relatively unique.
Rather than just observe and categorize existing events, it is capable of predicting events that might happen and assign probabilities to it. This puts Didact in the position of taking risks that could pay off rather well.
