In the midst of combat, especially close range combat, fists fly and kicks abound, people get thrown around taking hits right and left. As part of their work into cyberization Locke and Key found that they could enhance the speed and power of any individual, but there reached a point where the body just couldn’t take the strain, their bones would tear themselves apart under the pressure. This was most apparent in their tests of the Myomer Actuation System so Locke and Key started looking for ways to counter this issue.
The method they settled on was the structural enhancement of the skeletal structure of the body. A series of sterile armourplast filaments were threaded through the Compact, hard area of the bone. These threads were woven together into a mesh that increased the structural integrity of the bone by an order of magnitude. Now it would take a significantly greater level of pressure to cause the bone to fragment and come apart. While cracks might occur the mesh would hold the bone together beyond that. While the mesh helped to handly bone breakages, the engineers also wanted to prevent the bones from breaking in the first place if they could. To this end they used bonemer to augment the bones in the body that come under the most pressure and are more likely to break, massively increasing their toughness.
Of course, while the armourplast and bonemer additions made the bones tougher, there were disadvantages that came along with them. The additional weight made the user heavier, and without muscular enhancements less agile. Furthermore, the plating and mesh structure printed into the bones of the user also had a detrimental effect on the flow of white blood cells in and out of the marrow. While not completely stopped, they did degrade the number of white blood cells released leaving the user more susceptible to illnesses, to counter this a regimen of drugs was prescribed by the doctors to boost the immune system.

Strengthen’s bones, making them able to take more pressure without breaking.
Unbreakable: Bones treated by the Os Augment are tougher, capable of taking more force without breaking
Undetectable: The bonemer and armourplast used to enhance the bones would not flag up on most basic security scans due to its ceramic nature. Only a detailed scan will reveal the enhancement.
Heavier than I look: While the bonemer used in the process is roughly the same weight as bone the armourplast threaded through the user's skeletal structure is heavier than bone, resulting in the augmentee being heavier and less agile than they were before the procedure.
The common cold: While as much care as possible was taken to minimize side effects it is impossible to miss them all. In particular, the enhancements degrade the ability of the bone marrow to produce blood cells resulting in an increased vulnerability to illnesses and making it harder to naturally recover from blood loss.
The leg bone's connected to the hip bone: The Ostea Augment can only be used on those with an internal rigid skeleton, species with exoskeletons, or soft bones, such as shapeshifters, or species with a cartilage-based skeletal system, can not use the augment since it would harden their skeleton to a point their bodies are not able to manage.
