Some might have asked themselves what had happened to the Red Dress after Chiasa’s demise.

Dreadful name, the Red Dress, and wholly inoperable when you were trying to run a criminal empire. At least that was Khaleel’s opinion when his men managed to retrieve the ship and brought it back to him in one of the low-key refitting stations placed in Deep Space. They had pondered a long time what to do with it, most of the discussion came back towards simply gutting it, sell off the parts and enjoy the money that would be provided.

But Khal ain’t no wasteful man.

So they sunk the ship.

Which ain’t as bad as it sounds, the Dress was a Mon Cal-design which meant that it was made to be used underwater as much as in the skies. Which meant that it was qualified for the little idea that popped up in Khal’s mind.

They had bought one of those fancy Hegemonic Automaton designs, refitted the ship to be operable by a skeleton crew of mostly droids and a few sentients. After which they smuggled the ship- which sounds easier than it actually had been.

Anyway, details.

The only thing ya had to know now was that the insides of the Red Dress had been entirely modified for a new purpose, a deep water mobile manufacturing slash mining facility. Khal doubted that anyone else had tried to do something like this before and so he prided himself in the ingenuity; and also in the fact that he managed to convert a worthless piece of junk into something worthwhile.

Criminals using capital ships, where is the world going these days?

He was currently tinkering on something in one of the old hangar bays and Khal was expecting a visitor soon.

[member="Catalys Maijora"]

An agent of The Primeval did not usually work closely with others, especially not those outside of their chain-of-command. Of course, none of that truly mattered anymore; he was inside the hull of the submerged vessel and making his way towards the hangar bay where he was expected to meet with his latest acquaintance. Catalys was not a social man, the Umbaran preferred to be on his own for the most part and stayed away from large gatherings. When it did come up that he may need to cooperate with others he did so on a purely professional level, never allowing himself to become involved with the person.

His path ended and he stepped inside the rather large hangar to see the king of the castle tinkering away at junk. "A mighty fine vessel you have here, Capt'n."

The tinkering process was currently revolving around one lonely hyperdrive module currently sitting in front of Khaleel and being one right schutta to him, see the Underlord might have a whole army of goons, cronies and sub-contracted engineers working under him. But there ain’t nothing like tinkering on something yourself, trying to make it work just like you wanted it to work and then some, it was one of those secret loves that Khal hadn’t been able to show for a while now.

A few months back the Underground held a seminar on how to take apart a hyperdrive and make it faster by a frightening degree. Point four to point three rating ain’t no joke if ya asked Khal, he hadn’t been able to attend back then, but there had been others.

They hadn’t mind sharing the dets with him, give him a spare hyperdrive to look at and the info that Merrill had given all of ‘em to replicate the process. So here he was, trying to replicate it himself and make it better.

Once that was done?

It would be send to his engineers at Salvatrucha, and they would take it from there.

“Mhm, better than it used to be, Agent.” Khal replied over his cigarette.

“Need a smoke?”

Catalys' piercing gaze examined the device he was tinkering on, although not much of a ship expert the agent knew a hyperdrive module when he saw one. His attention was drawn off by the offer of cigarette, his eyes wandered to the small cylinder hanging from his lips. In all his travels Catalys had tried many vices, experienced many new forms of recreation, and achieved what could only be referred to as a kind of enlightenment... Although it was really more like culture shock. Still.

Shaking his head, "Not much of a smoker, I prefer something less distracting." He was referring to the fact he'd have to have something in his mouth for a prolonged amount of time. It wasn't that bothersome but he didn't like the idea of having something else to think about. Of course for some people they didn't even need to think to enjoy a good smoke.

Turning his attention span back to what was going on, "so why was I called down here, got a leak that needs fixing?"

Truthfully he wondered what service he could provide in this hull under the sea. He may have had many qualities but submarine warfare was not one of them, neither was engineering for that matter. What he did understand was how to point and shoot, lead a squad; hell, maybe even a fleet.

“Naw.” Khal replied with a chuckle, before looking down again on the drive and continuing to tune it here and there. Few days ago he had managed to get his hands on a sonic servodriver, never looked back at the ol’ hydrospanner and that was the truth, how he had spend his old days with the spanner he didn’t even know.

This thing practically read his mind, doing stuff before he even knew it had to be done. Nearby he also had one of those fancy Holodivers, it practically did the same thing as the sonic thing and a whole bunch of other things. But he still hadn’t figured out how to use it properly, fething complicated thing and it annoyed the hell outta him, gotta approach it carefully and without rushing into things. Last thing Khal wanted was for the drive to explode on him.

So servodriver it was for now.

“Heard through the grapevine ya needed some work and that ya could use something stealthy for some of your missions.”

He gestured with his head to the side, pointing out a rectangular shape currently underneath a cloth of fabric.

“Take a look.”

Catalys was an aight guy, they had the professionalism in common- done in different ways, of course. But both understood that most of their interactions were pure business mixed with some dry humor just to make things slightly less boring.

Catalys could only be described as 'overwhelmed' in the face of all those complicated tools, they weren't of his trade. What he did understand was getting straight to the point which he had hoped was the intention by pointing out something draped under a cloth. He walked over to the large--whatever it was and placed a hand on the cloth, the palm hovered over the material slowly before grabbing hold and yanking it down. Unfortunately it didn't do so in any cinematic manner, half of it got stuck partly forcing him to yank it again before it finally fell off entirely, revealing what could only be described as some kind of hull.

"Please tell me this goes in space." He couldn't be too sure with the entire fact that everything right now was under water. A long time ago this would've been all deemed absolutely amazing, back when seas were considered the final frontier. Only now having something underwater seemed far more dangerous and unusual in comparison to the somehow much safer journeys through space.

If it wasn't absolutely clear to him yet, the agent wasn't a fan of being under water... What with not seeing the bottom and all.

Turning back, "what kind of work?"

“Yah.”

Came with a nod this time, slow nod while keeping the rhythm of the work. A calibration here, an adjustment there and there they go, another few inches scratched away from the speed. If it kept going this way this one would probably be done in a few hours and they could send it up to the boys in the lab for future testing.

“Prototype stealth infiltrator, that one.” another jerk of the head towards the hull.

Khal took out the cigarette and gently tapped it against the ash bin nearby, before sticking it back between his lips. Good ol’ smoke and turn, before looking up to Catalyse… he didn’t seem entirely too comfortable around here.

Which would be all that more amusing for the next part.

“Got my hands full here, I need someone to operate that.” hand gestured to the other side where another frame was waiting, no fabric was covering it though.

So Cata would see the good parts.

“Gotta have someone coordinate the Ogre IIs that are currently waiting in the hangar bay next to ours, we need some more resources before we can start producing the infiltrators at will.”

A smile.

“Help me with this and ya can have the prototype.”

Forget instinctive fear.
First, Catalys was slightly confused, "you want me to...operate that and somehow manage to order... What are Ogres?" There were too many points to make.

Of course he wasn't saying he wasn't going to do it, if he wasn't he'd have said no outright; he just needed some added details to be sure he truly understood what was going on. The confusion in his voice was clear as the light of day under Tatooine's twin suns. If he was going to be held up in some kind of mining vessel, fine, but he'd need to know a bit about the gig if Khaleel didn't want him to kark up. Catayls looked over the metal beast regardless, his eyes examined it and took in every note.

The pay--a stealth transport--was worth it, more than worth it. The Primeval agents were infiltrating the galaxy and Catalys was the furthest out, he'd take all the help he could get in the matter. Besides, he couldn't help but feel the two of them were getting along quite well.

Another nod.

Khal put down the driver and dusted his hands off, before leaning back against the backseat and taking a small break. Just small enough to get Cata up to speed, so he knew what he would be in for. The last thing he needed was to send in someone who didn’t have a clue and would somehow feth up everything they had been working for right now.

“Basically what we have going here is a deep water mining and manufacturing facility.” he would start explaining patiently with a shrug.

“Means that the droids in the other hangar bay leave the ship to mine deep in the crusts of the earth where few people have ever come.”

Which was the truth, because even though humanity had managed to get out into space, they had never focused to master their own lands. Might have been the same discomfort that Catalyse was experiencing right now, billions of cubic liters of water pressing down upon them and only the hull and shields of a ship holding it all back.

Ain’t pretty if ya think about it.

But it also meant that these territories hadn’t been mined as vigorously for centuries, not like the earth sided ventures at least.

“What I need from you is to get into the AT-MP, follow the Ogre IIs and make sure that everything goes smoothly while they are mining the stuff. Woulda go myself but…”

He just gestured to the hyperdrive.

Most of his boys were either not competent to this degree or busy on other operations sadly.

“When I say smoothly, I mean it. We have had a few incursions with the local life here, big fish if you get my drift. So you might have to beat ‘em off to protect the droids.”

Khaleel wasn’t a man who would keep details away from an operative, the mission was dangerous and that was why the pay was so good, it wouldn’t help any of them to keep the details a secret. Would only get Cata killed and that wasn’t what Khal was after.

No matter how much he'd like to it wasn't like he had anyone to delegate such a task. With that he'd have to take the position, besides at least he'd be inside something that was more than just a suit which did reinforce his comforts... A bit.

With a slight nod, "Doable."

The agent walked over to the walker, climbing up the ladder that lead to its cockpit and examined the control console. It was very similar to your ordinary starship, except it was a walker, so there were less things to worry about. Powering up the walker, the cockpit closed over him, sealing with a hiss as it maintained internal pressure to be sure it wouldn't cause him any pain whilst under the sea. Heading over to the shields that prevented water from pouring into the hangar, he stepped through the barrier in the walker.

From there he found himself just outside where the Ogres were, the droids floated down through the sea to the bottom and headed off to their destination. Noting where the ship was he headed off in pursuit of the automatons in the walker.

“Mhm.”

Would be the only reply Cata got, before Khaleel took up the driver again and started working on the hyperdrive some more. It had been the reason why Khal had asked for Catalyse to come and not some other Prime or Underground goon, they didn’t need to communicate two hundred million words before setting off to work.

Didn’t need all that extra crap or civility.

There was work, it was there and needed to be done, what more was there to say? He kept on fine-tuning the drive, looking at a nearby screen to see what the theoretical outputs were and how much further he would be able to push this one.

Looked pretty good, all things considered.

Khal took another puff from his cigarette, before ticking on the comm that sat next to the diagnostics screen. Would put him in contact with Catalyse who was probably having the time of his life right now, Khal had done it a few times himself - almost crapped his pants the first time, but after a half dozen times? It ain’t all that scary anymore.

“How’s it looking out there, Cat?”

Scratching his chin, he looked around to see where he had put the cylinder with hot caf. He could go for a drink right now.

Catalys had done his job, he watched over the droids as they did whatever it was they were doing -- he wasn't an expert. Luckily for him there weren't any big fish of major concern, there were big ones but they mostly kept to themselves. The few that did get too curious were quickly scarred off by the walker's rather menacing movements through the water.

"Ringing like a brand new bell." The idiom was an archaic one, the meaning was lost on him as he said it but the intention was there; no problems.

He couldn't help but feel that times were changing... The once renowned Catalys was almost all but forgotten out here in the 'regular' galaxy away from The Primeval and their traditions. Of course some missions did come up that required his immediate attention but times like right now made him wonder if there was more to life than being ridiculously good looking a good soldier who always obeyed orders. Then again he knew there was a bigger task in his life that wouldn't allow him to stray too far from home.
