DETAILED SPECIAL FEATURES
Summon Dark Side Tendrils: The ring is designed to cast a spell that is loosely based on the ancient magical technique of summoning dark side tendrils. Yet other then the original spell the Tendrils are not summoned from the ground, instead dark side energy gathers in front of the casters hand, forming a small void that looks alike a portal from which the tendrils, roughly ten, emerge. They are less powerful then the original version, yet their hits cause not only injuries but decay. They have a reach of roughly eight meters.

To summon the Tendrils the caster has to perform a series of gestures: The spell starts out with the middle and the index finger in a straight position, while the remaining fingers are held at a 90 degree angle. Then the thumb attaches to the index finger. Afterwards the hand has to be turned around so that the ring finger and the pinky point upwards. Then middle and index finger have to be aligned with the ring finger. The last step is the forming of a fist. This series of gestures has to be executed quickly for the spell to work.

Spellbreaker: The more important change to the spell is in the detail. While the original Tendrils were designed to utterly obliterate living flesh, those of the ring hold less power over the physical realm. Instead they cause materials to decay on contact, especially targeting beings and objects connected to the force. The Tendrils can cause spells and force imbued effects to be temporary disrupted (OOC: Obviously it's up to a writer if this happens), and are also quite harmful to sithspawn and other beings created by the force.

Strengths:
  • Spellbreaker: The tendrils are a powerful tool against beings imbued with the force, or against those that are reliant on objects imbued with the force, as they can temporary disrupt said effects. Creatures born from spells like the undead are affected by this as well
  • Tendrils Burst: Instead of using high amounts of energy to summon dark side tendrils, the ring instead only summons a quick burst of them that reach for the enemy. Thanks to this the spell requires less energy while also covering a longer distance
Weaknesses :
  • Focus: The caster needs a clear, focused mind while casting, alongside the correct series of gestures. Should the gestures or the mind of the caster be disrupted during the summoning then the spell will fail and have no effect.
  • Erratic: Casting the spell in blind anger or fear (or any other uncontrolled emotion) will have a drastic effect on the outcome. The Tendrils become erratic, attacking anyone nearby, and in some cases even the caster.
DESCRIPTION
Outsider's Reach is one of the more interesting trinkets that Abyss discovered in his travels through the various ruins of the ancient sith. After stumbling over it in a old ruin looted to a degree were nothing but the oddly shaped ring was left, he quickly took a liking in the object with clear arcane properties.

Most scavengers had simply ignored it, as the ring is nothing of worth and none of them had been able to see what the sith lord could. Thanks to his mastery of the art of psychometry he quickly uncovered the series of gestures required to unlock the full potential of the artifact.

Now the Mindeater wears the ring on his left, a small yet powerful weapon that can reach for his enemies when they least expect it.

Apologies for the delay. How do you account for the fact tendrils are like an insta-kill option? As in, how do the weaknesses balance this out?

[member="Delila Castillon"] I actually wrote in the special features list that the ring summons an altered Version of the tendrils, which cause less damage but only painful decay where they hit.

My apologies! Somehow I missed that, because I was going to ask about length as well but I see it sitting right there. Well then, no reason to hold you up.
