Jedi Knight
Location: Dagobah, RJC Temple, Tash's Rest
Nadira found Pyeth in the canopy, staring intently at what appeared to be pods constructed of mud. She landed besides, the branch momentarily trembling beneath their combined weight.
"Finally found you."
Pyeth broke concentration, looking up to see Nadira from his crouched position. "Hello." He said before turning back.
"Why are you watching mud dry?" She asked, lowering her voice in whisper as he raised a wing.
"Jubba Birds." He replied, "I been studying them." He pointed as one of the avians returned to its nest from below, shaping and moulding the mud.
"Bird? Looks closer to a bat." Nadira flinched, on that he agreed. Replace the beak with a snout. Plus the distinct lack of fluffy feathers.
"Why are you studying them?" She asked
"They're Force Sensitive, and their song. It helps people relax. I want to know if I could achieve something similar, it would work wonders with difficult patients."
Nadira looked at him suspiciously, "Have you had much success. Using mimicry?"
"No... I can replicate the song easy enough. But there is something more."
"Uh-huh. I suspect your here for another reason, something to do with the Jedi Council?"
Pyeth didn't respond, she was right. She was always right. The Knighthood, it's responsibility worried him. "I trust Tiland's wisdom."
"And yourself?"
Pyeth hesitated, "No. Not completely. I'm worried I'll disappoint them, like I did my family."
"No. I don't think so. Rishii agreed right? Speaking of Rishii, I wanted to give you something." She reached around her back, pulling free a package and handed it to him. It was wrapped in paper?
"What's this? A paper box."
"No. It's wrapping. Apparently, according to a Padawan, it's normal to wrap gifts."
Pyeth nodded, "May I?"
"Of course, but you should know. You can't open it if your not going to attend the ceremony tomorrow."
Pyeth shook his head, a feint smirk. He leaned in pulling away the paper and box to find a pair of Alashgaan. He gave pause studying them up close. Masterfully made.
"Who made this?"
"Not me. There is a old forge master, bit of a eccentric but well known and respected. He owed me a bit of a favour, then I heard you completed your training so..."
"I... Thank you, but I'm not-"
"Don't turn down a good thing Pyeth." She chuckled. He slowly nodded. "Now I'll leave you to relax to the sound of Jabba Bat... Bird... Things but if I hear anything about you failing to turn up. I'll be the first to drag you through the door."
---Next Day---
Pyeth brushed down his robes for the tenth time, starring at the Council Chamber doors as though he was on his first date. He wasn't afraid, just plainly nervous.
He would be the first to cross the threshold in the Temple, and that was significant not only to him but the people that would follow after.
He wanted everything to go perfectly, yet his life had been anything but. He inhaled filling his lungs and stepped forward into the chamber beyond. He realised, an angry, Nadira was far scarier than anything the Council might throw at him.
