The P1/K1, or PIKI, was developed specifically for the Globex Security Division's security officers. As such, it can be used against both organics and droids, is exceedingly safe even by stun blaster standards, and does not (at least by default; aesthetics can be altered) look like a gun - in fact, it is specifically designed to 'avoid associations with lethal force' and 'violent subjugation'.
While this might seem strange to some, it is worth noting that Globex Security Officers generally do not even carry stun batons because they 'look too intimidating'. With this in mind, wanting to avoid 'making the gun too gun-shaped' seems somewhat less absurd.
In addition to GSOs and other security guards, PIKIs are often carried by police officers, especially in the Core Worlds - they are a rarer sight on the galactic frontier, where making pacification as harmless as possible is less important than killing whoever is trying to kill you.

- The P1/K1, better known as the PIKI, fires thin vertical beams of greenish-blue energy while producing a gentle 'ta-hum' sound. Targets tend to feel 'a gentle tingling all over the body' when awakening; grazing hits feel 'numbing' in a manner comparable to local anaesthesia, but tend to transition into comparable tingling once the effect passes. PIKIs work just fine on droids, but do not tend to fry circuitry or otherwise cause any sort of permanent damage, unlike some ion blasters. Regardless of target, the effects are quite brief and usually pass within ~15 minutes.
- PIKI bolts may 'bend around' lightsabers, just like paddle beamers, but there is a clear limit to how quickly they can alter their trajectory. This is exacerbated by the simple fact that most PIKIs aren't calibrated for anti-lightsaber use - Force Users just aren't an everyday threat.
- Safer Than Safe: PIKIs can safely disable organics and droids alike with negligible risk of permanent damage; instead of relying on stronger bolts to overwhelm armoured opponents (and thus risking fatalities) the energy they emit propagate through many types of armour.
- 'Slow Homing': PIKI bolts travel somewhat slower than your average blaster, but compensate by homing in on their target.
- Size Matters: The lack of an (unsafe) high-powered setting is an issue when dealing with unusually large targets.
