STRENGTHS:

• Gunslinger: Quick draw cowboy. Trained by bounty hunters at a young age.
• Ace Pilot: Flown with smugglers, bounty hunters, and the best of the Rebellion.
• Physical: Athletic, trains regularly, grappler, hand-to-hand training with Jedi and Mandalorian instructors.
• Luck: You don’t survive this long without a lot of luck.

NEUTRAL:

• Rifleman: Decent shot at long distances, but not your designated sniper.
• Reliance on Gear: Somewhat reliant on technology to overcome weaknesses, particularly little tricks to avoid certain death from Sith opponents. But not a fully loaded Mandalorian gear head.

WEAKNESSES:

• NFU: Obvious weakness in a galaxy full of Jedi and Sith.
• Politics: You won’t find this guy in the Galactic Senate. Anti-government.
• Wanted: On a few lists by now, especially with the Dark Empire after helping the Galactic Alliance take down the Predator and invade the Tython orbital station.

[Pal Veda]

This character has existed across multiple universes in various incarnations since joining SWFans in May 2000. Much of the character development took place at The Gungan Council. If your character interacted with Pal Veda in these other universes, feel free to pick that relationship up at Chaos. The prior incarnations include Rebel 69, Kurklash, Paul Vader, and Pal Vader.

Character History:

The man. The myth. The legend.

Pal Veda doesn’t talk much about his past. He spent much of his teenage years on The Bounty Hunter’s Moon, learning the tricks of the trade. He trained under the cybernetic Mandalorian Bounty Hunter Dreyas and the Jedi-turned-hunter Pracid Trip. They taught the kid how to shoot, how to fly, and how to defend himself. Before long, he started training other bounty hunters, including the mysterious young Mandalorian Bubba and his collective the Brood. Veda borrowed a set of worn out durasteel Mandalorian armor and donned it under the name Kurklash during some of his hunts.

All good things come to an end. The Guild dissolved and his mentors and colleagues went their separate ways, some disappearing into the night, others killed in action. As The Galactic Empire grew, Veda came across the path of Admiral Angel Hawkmoon, the leader of The Rebellion. He joined the infamous Rogue Squadron as Rogue 8, callsign Blitzen. He spent the next couple of years in dogfights and clandestine operations, taking time to train new recruits at their base on Hoth and members of the Jedi Council on Naboo.

With the Imperial forces losing ground, the Rebellion slowly became the major governing faction, a sort of New Republic. The men who won the war were replaced with the same lifetime politicians and bureaucrats. Veda packed his bag and headed to the Outer Rim. He found a home in The Band of Outlaws, operating as a freelance smuggler and sometimes bounty hunter. He earned a name for himself as a crack shot and ace pilot and stuck around as the group grew into The Galactic Underworld.

A resurgence of the Empire, joined by the powerful Witches of Dathomir, saw Veda forced back into the Rebellion, fighting alongside the Jedi Council to protect Naboo and the rest of the galaxy. The powers of light and dark eventually fought to a stalemate, and Veda again exited the politics to focus on himself.

Veda developed his own set of contacts that fed him steady jobs, including the Devaronian Radix Kane on Nar Shaddaa. On one such job to Tatooine, Veda had a chance encounter with Jedi Master Valery Noble. He soon began contracting with the Galactic Alliance, operating outside of its military and law enforcement wings to accomplish what they could not (legally) do. Veda also linked up with the Spacer’s League, a free-trade alliance that allowed him to move freely in the Outer Rim.

Veda’s skills earn a hefty price tag, and he has accumulated a bit of wealth over the years. But every time he thinks of riding off into the sunset, that trigger finger starts itching, and he takes the call.

FORMAL NAME: BB-99
DROID TYPE: BB-series Astromech Droid
ALLEGIANCE: Pal Veda; maybe Valery Noble on a good day
WEAPONS: Taser, lighter, fierce droid anger

BB is a BB unit. Not much else to say. He beeps and whistles, but if you speak binary, you know he has a very foul mouth. Pal Veda acquired BB as an astromech for his T-85 X-wing. The X-wing was destroyed, but Veda kept him around anyway. BB can plug into the Rubicon for navigation and systems analysis. He can slice into foreign computer systems and has been programmed with Alliance and Imperial codes purchased off the black market. BB outranks B1-D1 and is in command when Veda is away.

DROID TYPE: B1-Series Battle Droid
ALLEGIANCE: Pal Veda; BB
WEAPONS: E-5 Blaster Rifle; SE-14 Blaster Pistol; thermal detonators; anything else he can get his hands on

B1-D1 is a reprogrammed battle droid Pal Veda picked up for cheap to guard the Rubicon. His vocal circuitry was corrupted when his memory banks were wiped, so now he can only say, “Roger, Roger.” B1-D1 has a dead aim, but he is a bit clumsy. He often gets stuck loading supplies and cargo onto the ship but doesn’t complain.

SPECIES: Devaronian

FORCE SENSITIVE: no idea

OCCUPATION: Entrepreneur, club owner, broker, contractor, rich guy.
LOCATION: Nar Shaddaa

PERSONALITY: Jovial and friendly when you’re on his good side. You don’t want to be on his bad side.

APPEARANCE: Tall, muscular, red skin, horns in tact, usually sporting a devilish goatee. Takes very good care of himself and takes pride in his appearance.

GEAR/WEAPONS: Concealed hold-out blaster; ornate dagger

RELATIONSHIP TO PAL VEDA: Kane has been a steady employer of Veda for years and has grown to like the younger outlaw. He occasionally connects Veda with other underworld figures for jobs. Usually knows way more than he lets on.
