- Major Imports: Weapons, modern appliances and power producing assets.
- Major Exports: Kyber Crystals, textiles, agricultural produce and craft services.
- Gravity: Standard.
- Climate: Tropical and subtropical.
- Primary Terrain: Thick jungle, mountainous regions and plains.
- Major Locations:
- Pa’Dan: Pa’Desh’s capital Pa’Dan houses over twenty million people, in a massive urban sprawl. It is the seat of the Badishah’s power, and split into two definitively separate parts of the city. In the east, sits the new city.
New Pa'Dan at dawn | FreshWallpapers.net (x)
- New Pa’Dan: New Pa’Dan is dominated by monolithic structures, and the Pa’Desh official spaceport. It’s very new, and acts as almost the corporate capital of the planet. Most foreigners are found here, working either for the companies as mercenary workers, or here on business travel.
Farni Square, Old Pa'Dan | World Nomads (x)
- Old Pa’Dan: The old city is ancient. Spanning thousands of years. It holds numerous historical buildings, which over the years have been converted to art galleries, museums and other cultural buildings. Most government administration works here, in organising the commands of the Badishah, and implementing them into policy. The streets are dominated by vast markets, with great bazaars entertaining locals with goods and foods from across the Galaxy.
The Forbidden Palace | Wikipedia (x)
- Badishah Quarter: This district, sits in the middle of Pa’Dan’s Old City, a giant green blob, with the Badishah’s residence, the Forbidden Palace and surrounding structures surrounded by acres of lush gardens and meadows. The Forbidden Palace dominates the space, with its grand design, and small army posted there. Around it, and in close proximity are the recently completed the foreign ministry, and the long standing treasury complex surrounding it. All three buildings are then walled off by a several meter barrier, guarded by elite units of the Almar’bieyara and the Badishah Sparr.
Bala'dahl at noon | Economic Times (x)
- Bala’dahl: The industrial heart of Pa’Desh is Bala’dahl. The city sits beneath a cloud of perpeptual smog caused by the heavy industry here. Poverty is abject, and the worst on the planet. Children born in the city, are expected to only live till 30, thanks to the pollutants in the water supply, and the irritants which cling to the air. There's nothing strategically interesting in the city, besides its industrial capacity, and horrifying statistics.
Mulli'grund | FreeHDW.net (x)
- Mulli’grund: City of the mountains, and the best kept travel secret of the Unknown Regions. Despite its massive kyber mines, and foundries, the city manages to make itself an escape for the rich. Built of course on the back of the Hostar’du’s almost slave labour. The city also houses the Citadel on the lower peaks.
- Jund’ari Citadel: For thousands of year, the Jund’ari forged a mighty war path for their betters the Herda’di. It was from this mighty mountain fortress, they trained and organised their warriors from the earliest of days, and it is still to this day the headquarters for all branches of the military, sans the Badishah Sparr and the Jindani Sparr. Heavily fortified, it is a tough nut to crack.
Temple of Nundu, Eastern Shrine | Gabriel Yeganyan Artstation (x)
- Temple of Nundu: Although not the oldest temple to grace the Pa'Deshi's Gods name, the Mulli'grund temple is most certainly the grandest in its design. Dating back several thousand years, and having received the patronage of multiple dynasties, it has grown into a cultural wonder the entire planet is proud of.
POPULATION
- Native Species: None. Other than the wildlife.
- Immigrated Species: Humans, Twi'leks, Zabrak and Chiss.
- Population: Heavily Populated.
- Demographics: Pa’Desh is approximately eighty two percent human, with the Zabrak population taking up seven percent, the Twi’lek population six percent, and finally the Chiss taking up four percent.
- Primary Languages: Pa'Deshi and several derivative dialects sit as the planets dominant language, two of these dialects quite interestingly are very similar to Mand’oa . Basic, is known amongst the higher castes, but not spoken outside of diplomatic ventures and travel.
- The Castes: The culture of Pa'Desh is stratified to the extreme. Within it society, sit five very separate castes, all of which are divided by ethnicity, roles in society, social norms and finally wealth.
Hostar'du: The lowest of the low. Their name literally translates to filth in every dialect of Pa'Deshi. The Hostar'du, are the poorest and work the most dangerous jobs and disgusting work no other caste considers performing, order to scrape a living at the edges of polite society. They are made up primarily of aliens, such as Twi'leks and Zabrak, and inhabit the outer reaches of society, living either in remote villages, or at the outskirts of major cities, and towns. Because of their social position, many Hostar'du often turn to petty crime, and more dubious professions in order to feed their families, and pay the exorbitant rent enforced by the higher classes. - Liaa'tu: The largest class by far. While not treated quite as poorly as the Hostar'du, the Liaa'tu don't quite get off as neatly as the others. The Liaa'tu are almost solely dominated by humans, and are the workers of the land. In terms of employment, the Liaa'tu generally make a living cultivating the agricultural industry, working as manual labourers, soldiers and other low paying jobs. Although still considered taboo, some Liaa'tu have been known to marry up, and manage to join higher castes.
- Kikaji: The professional class. Some may be as poor as the Liaa'tu, but on the whole, the Kikaji are the mid ranking officials who administer the government, courts, and bureaucracy. Being born into a Kikaji household means automatically, the infant is twenty five times less likely to die before they're ten years old, as well as being able to achieve a better education. One almost on par to a child living in a wealthy Core World. The Kikaji are generally seen as the real working class by the higher ups, often taking success, and bonuses which may have otherwise been given to their contemporaries.
- Herda'di: The Herda'di are the former ruling class, and to an extent don't exist anymore, with much of the Herda'di royalty remarrying and interbreeding with the Jun'Dari class. Now, the Herda'di mainly work as functionaries in government, and business life, with the 'Five Families' dominating the private sector. Herda'di have also taken the reigns from the Jun'dari as the caste which administers the military, with members dominating the general staff, and the higher ranks.
- Jun'dari: The ruling class. Formerly the administrators of the military, after the coups of Badishah Groustu III, the Jun'dari became Pa'Desh's ruling class. The Jun'Dari now dominate all aspects of political life. Dynasties of Jun’dari control Pa’Desh’s throne, and the administration cities and their officers are often placed in the highest power in the military. The Jun’dari are affluent to say the least, investing heavily in Herda’di businesses, and ensuring they take a disproportionate amount of profit. Graft and corruption are also highly common, with relatives of city Raj’s demanding exhorbitant bribes for access to their influence on more powerful family members.
- The Chiss: Functioning outside of the caste system are the Chiss. After the great Chiss immigration, many of the blue skin humanoids settled on the planet, and forged livings, working at a higher level than the Kikaji, but lower than the Herda'di. This hasn't stopped Chiss ingenuity or ambition from allowing progression up the chain of command, although not to the very top, but those cases have been exceptions. And even then, those cases have not proceeded without some anger and tensions arising from more traditional and reactionary elements within the Herda'di and Jun'dari.
[*]Caste Interaction and Social Norms: The castes are not officially segregated, except for the Hostar'du, who suffer greatly thanks to discriminatory city planning. With this exception aside, socially, the Pa'Deshi society is extremely stratified. Generally, a class, will mix only socially with those below, Hostar'du being strictly off limits. It is deemed acceptable to form friendships with lower classes, but marriage between classes is considered in many parts of the planet, taboo. As an example, for a Liaa'tu to marry a Herda'di would be unthinkable, and would result in the public shaming, and excommunication of the higher class figure to the lower caste. This hasn't however stopped many Liaa'tu in recent generations managing to work, and save their way to Kikaji status. However, a Kikaji to become a Herda'di is impossible due to the close concept of familial purity which exists within the Herda'di caste. All castes however are subject to the absolute rule and authority of the Jun’dari.
[*]Pa'Deshi And Foreigners: Foreigners, and aliens are treated with above all suspicion. And in the case of the latter, outright hostility. Although there are of course aliens who have lived on Pa’Desh for thousands of years, they have primarily been exiled to the Hostar’du castes, where they work on the fringe of society. That is not to say there aren’t exceptions. In context of the aliens, the arrival of the Chiss, who have bought new ways of industry and manufacturing have seen attitudes, at least to them, relaxed. Among poorer castes, they’re referred to as the Sons of Und’ili. Although the flouting of certain social conventions by the Chiss, and their seeming invulnerability to the millennia old strata has seen many conservative elements angered. So to say the Chiss, are fully welcomed would be a misnomer. Other foreigners, humans, are treated with suspicion. However, with the ending of the great darkness, and the reemergence of civilisation, there has been an increasing push to have Pa’Desh move to modernise itself culturally. Although these attempts have often fallen upon the batons of the Sharak’shia and admonishment by the Bahdishah.
[*]Religion: Pa’Desh is a deeply religious state, whose official religion is Nundu. Nunduism is not a monotheistic faith. There are four Gods held in reverence.
- Nundu; The God of Life: In terms of influence, Nundu is the most important figure. He is the father of the world and brought peace and knowledge to the peoples of the Galaxy. He is a forgiving figure, and his worship is mandated daily, through prayer and meditation which must last at least five minutes. Although considered a fair God, Nundu however is not without anger. In mythology, Nundu created the Galaxy, and through that lead his people, humans to the promised land of Pa’Desh, he however damned those who did not match his vision, deforming them with the headtails and horns found on Twi’lek and Zabrak, to punish them for follwing the heathen Killi’bal, and imbued only the most righteous the power of Jidi, or the Force.
- I’ella; Goddess of Love and Family: I’ella is Nundu’s wife, and sister, and represents fertility, health and love. She is not as important, as the other two, but she is prayed to constantly in the hopes she will bless a family, and deliver them the children they so desperately want, and need.
- Und’ili; God of Craft ,Wealth and Luck: Nundu’s brother. He’s Nundu’s smaller brother, and he works the great forge which provides the bountiful wealth. He is considered the patron of craftsmen and workers, with many praying for him to provide either a bountiful harvest, or a wealthy future.
- Killi’bal; God of Death and Evil: The last of the Gods, and the one most hated. Killi’bal is the youngest brother of Nundu, and attempted to usurp his power out of jealousy. Were it not for Nundu and his righteous warriors, Killi’bal would have become ruler, and ended life as we know it. When defeated however, he was spared by Nundu, who sent him to Ba’al, where Killi’bal ferries the dead and the wicked. It is foretold he will return, and that every sin committed, every trespass against Nundu, and by extension, the Badishah, is a step closer to bringing on that eventuality.
[*]Influence of Religion: To call Pa’Desh a theocratic state would be a gross understatement. Religion dominates every part of public life and every political institution. The Badishah, is considered the interpreter of Nundu’s will, and thusly, his rule is divine, and unquestioned publically, although politicking happens behind the scenes. Every city on Pa’Desh has a monestary built to worship Nundu, Und’ili and I’ella. These monasteries house monks who organise religious celebrations, worship and local headquarters for branches of the Jidiani Sparr, the religious and Badishah’s secret police force.
[*]Role of State In Public Life: The state is surprisingly enough does not an all encompassing role in the life of the average citizen. The role of the government, and the most interaction many, if any citizens recieve on a day by day basis is through the multitude of patrols of soldiers from the Sharak’shia. Most of the economy is primarily run through private entities, but that doesn’t stop taxes from being oppressively enforced. Taxation is often brutal, for the lower castes, with tax collectors being able to use military force to seize any financial assets, to fit the tax brackets.
[*]The Role of Women: The Pa’Deshi attitude to the role of women in society is backwards to say the least. Women are anticipated through cultural norms and religious doctrine, to be homemakers, and maintain a clean home and to bear children for their husbands. Work in many sectors for women is still something of a taboo. While it’s not uncommon to see women from the Liaa’tu and Hostar’du castes working manual labour in either factories, the mines, or the fields. Education is even rarer, with it being considered illegal for girls to continue being educated past the ages of ten. This hasn’t stopped a black market of tutors working amongst the Kikaji, and upwards, secretly tutoring girls, in exchange for exorbitant fees. Political power for women is also a rarity, although some do manage to join the various monestaries within the cities, and can attain the chief rank there, of high priestess. A woman, can also inherit the Bahdishah title, from her husband, or father, if there are no other legitimate male heirs. In the case of wives of Bahdishah’s, the Bahdishari, just as her husband may be considered the male voice of Nundu, women can be considered the manifestation of I’ella.
GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY
Badishah Reynash Chieema'bal III, circa 852 ABY | Reena Ahluwala (x)
- Government: Absolute Monarchy
- Current Ruler: Badishah Reynash Chieema’bal III
- Government Structure: Badishah, or King in other terms rules the entire nation. His authority is absolute, and is given his power by divine authority. The Badishah administers his dominion through the Raj’s. Each Raj controlling a city, or state, and has certain levels of autonomy, in regards to smaller policies. Some Raj’s, usually the Badishah’s blood relatives, also control certain portfolios. Such as trade, foreign affairs. The Badishah however is the joint head of the military, and head of the Nunduist religion.
- Affiliation: None. Although the planet politically leans towards aligning with more authoritarian, dark sided regimes such as the Galactic Empire, First Order and Sith Empire.
- Wealth: Depending on where you sit in Pa'Deshi society, you can either be low, medium or high. Though, speaking in a broader sense, the planet sits between low and high at a steady medium, with the potential to be high. The Pa'Desh are an industrious people, who can and have built a solid infrastructure base, with industries capable of building upon that to adequately use the bountiful resources of the planet. What stands in the way of becoming rich is the innate and internalised corruption of the ruling Jun'dari caste, which stifles economic development in favour of nepotistic and corrupt schemes to hold more power and the planets wealth. This, with a lack of formalised education, means the planet suffers greatly thanks to corruption, stagnation and a lack of innovation. They can work hard in their current situation, but many lack the imagination or ambition to continue further thanks to the myriad of cultural issues which plague the planets psyche.
- Stability: High. The extensive police apparatus, and indentured work ethic of the lower classes, mean that overarchingly Pa'Desh is stable. There may be squabblings within the higher ups, but this ultimately does not affect many due to the social, and financial disconnect.
- Freedom & Oppression: Pa’Desh is highly oppressed. A mixture of strict cultural tradition, interspersed with a militant police state ensure that Pa’Desh’s citizenry know their place. This isn’t to say the planet isn’t prone to political shifts, however those sorts of cultural and military changes are restricted to the secretive coups and politicking of the Jun’dari ruling class.
Military: The Pa’Deshi military is divided into multiple tiers, which reflects their societies stratification. It is distinctly divided into four different branches, and while many do hold crossovers with other castes, internal organisation of them is stratified. Although the Chiss have attempted to rectify this, the military’s stratification ensures that on a broad level, organisation is often fractured, and fragmented. Individual units may perform well, but the broader military complex, is regarded as ineffectual. The army is to centralised for its own good, and although drilling and training may be excellent, the reactionary nature of Pa’Desh’s strategy serve against its interests. Despite having the perfect terrain and territory to fight extensive guerrilla warfare, the mainstay strategy has been on grand battle palns. Combat fought in urbanised areas, with no proper contingency. The Pa’Deshi’s doctrine essentially boils down to attempting to thwart opposing military forces in early on terrestrial engagements. While Pa’Desh may have the population to afford such an extensive military necessary, the lack of armoured and mechanised material on offer, means that such a reactionary effort will most probably end in failure.
Military Structure:
Sharak'shia Soldier on parade | Wikipedia (x)
- The Sharak’shia: The lowest level of the Pa’Deshi military. Little more than a militia, or civil defence guard, the Sharak’Shia are designated keepers of the peace. Patrolling the streets, and enforcing the laws of the Badishah. They are the most commonly seen type of soldier, performing active patrols, and suppressing the dissidents who crop up and attempt to oppose the peace.
Almar'bieyara soldier during exercises | Wikipedia (x)
- The Almar’bieyara: The formalised armed force. These soldiers, whole not as large as the Sharak’shia, they are a more formal force. They train more rigorously and are drilled constantly, ensuring they’re constantly ready. However, behind the scenes, corruption plagues the Almar’bieyara. Senior officers often embezzle funds, which makes sure that vast portions of the military aren’t even appropriately equipped.
- The Ortamiera: The newly formed armoured corps. The Ortameria is now the Almar’bieyara, and Sharak’shia’s mechanised and armoured support. Due to the lack of infastructure are forced to use imported vehicles and material from from private contractors, rather than anything constructed on the planet. Because of this, they’re not very well armed, and use cheaper and larger vehicles which in fact are a poor choice for their terrain and capability.
Jindani Sparr guardian | Assassins Creed Wiki (x)
- The Jidani Sparr: The religious police, and entirely recruited out of force users. They're ideologically driven zealots, who spend their time acting as a secret police, ensuring that religious customs are adhered to. Although they have a distinctive, ornate uniform, the Jindani Sparr are often plainly clothed, and undercover, infiltrating society.
Badishah Sparr beserker on the offensive | Lozart Blogspot (x)
- The Badishah Sparr: Comprised from the fanatics of the Jidani Sparr, the Badishah Sparr act as the elite praetorian guard for the Badishah. They’re constantly on guard, armed with lightsabres. They act judiciously, and perform any and all tasks as commanded by the Badishah. They’re trained in the ways of the force, and are a formidable force to face.
- The Sudati’byar: The Navy. The Pa’Deshi navy has no shipbuilding industry to speak of, much like the Ortamiera. Ergo, the Subdati’byar are forced to rely on vessels produced by companies and private entities. Currently, their entire navy is comprised of two Lucrenaulk-X Supercarriers, one Venator-Class Star Destroyer, and nine bolt-class picket corvettes purchased from the First Order. In addition to this, a compliment of 9 squadrons of X-Wings and 6 Y-Wing squadrons act as their starfighter corps.
Chiss'ary officer holstering his weapon | SWTOR Strategies (x)
- The Chiss’ary: The Chiss and their revolutionary ways of reforming the military, have meant they’re allocated their own units. The Chiss’ary act as an officer corps/elite infantry division, than anything. Organising the logistics, and other boring work which is seen as beneath other branches of the army. However, this hasn’t stopped rivalries cropping up. In more recent years, Chiss officers have begun mentoring the Sharak’shia, modernising them and making them more capable, something which has not escaped the ire of the Almar’bieyara.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
If you were to take the Pa’Deshi at their word, their history began multiple millennia ago when their benevolent God, Nundu, gave the world life, and to its people. But like all mythologies, it is an exaggeration of what is otherwise fact. Warped by time, and multiple years sans the luxuries many other systems have, Pa’Desh’s actual history can be traced back to the days of the now ancient, Old Republic.
Pa’Desh’s original inhabitants, were the survivors of a space battle, which occurred roughly 30’000 years before the Battle of Yavin. A fleet of Old Republic vessels, clashed with an armada of Mandalorian space pirates from Clan Jun. The Republic fleet had been pursuing the Mandalorians, only to have the tables turned, and be ambushed as they recuperated in orbit of the as of yet undiscovered and unnamed planet. The battle was a two day bloodbath, which cultivated with any vessels surviving the conflict, scuttled, and their crews scattered on the planets surface, with no real ways of communication or ability to hail for help.
Despite the deadly nature of the battle, there were actually tens of thousands of survivors who somehow managed to escape the battle. Of course, to document the stories of these individual survivalist groups would be near impossible, but also, irrelevant, due to their small, and ineffectual influence on Pa’Desh’s history. Instead, what is to be focused upon is the three majors. Nunduki’s tribe, the Clan Undil, and finally the enclave of Syndulla.
The man who would become a God, Yeri Nunduki | Dark Jedi Brotherhood Wiki (x)
One of the largest enclaves of survivors, were lead by Jedi Master Yeri Nunduki, a human master, who had been aboard one of the largest cruisers, which crashed into the planet. Nunduki became a de-facto leader of his people, and for several decades afterwards, the Jedi master lead them, as they established civilisation in the ruins of their vessel. Being one of the sole force users alive, he became a figure of reverence. His trials with the force, and great feats he performed, the stuff of legend.
Father of the Jund'ari, Undil Jun | Velvetify (x)
Elsewhere on the planet, Mandalorian survivors of Clan Jun too formed their own society, within the depths of Pa’Desh’s fertile jungles, lead by a charismatic Crusader, Undil Jun. Jun managed to turn his group from warriors, reliant on their now rusting and aging beskar’gam to strong, and capable hunters. Able to fell beasts with his bare hands, many before his death began to call themselves Clan Undil, rejecting the Jun whom they now felt abandoned them.
A third group, a group of Twi’lek and Zabrak survivors rendezvous in the mountainous and treacherous terrain of modern day Hora’davy province. Lead by Jorn Syndulla, the Twi’lek and Zabrak survivors climbed well into the mountains, and using their technologies, established a comfortable, relatively advanced existence.
The history of Pa’Desh ultimately then enteres a dark age for a few thousand years, as the formerly civilised denizens, revert to a tribalist state. The Syndulla group, without the means to escape like their compatriots, grew complacent, and instead enjoyed the existence carved out for themselves. Soon enough, all of them moved on, forgetting their forefathers, their space faring technology, and their former missions, instead forging their own ideas and religion.
Iell Forst soon became I'ella in the lore of her descendants | IGN (x)
Master Nundu became a legendary figure amongst his great-great-great-grandchildren, who began to revere the man as a God for his judicial use of the force. His children, which whom he had with one Captain Iell Forst, became a new generation of force users, whom, while not as refined as their father, still amazed the others.
While this happened, the Mandalorians undertook their own religious experiences. Undil in his latter days stumbled across a starfighter, and repurposed its engines to be able to cut through the fractured and frayed mess the clans beskar’gam had become. Taking the ruined armour, and now using it as a base for arrows, spears, among other things. Undil became known as Und’ili, the industrious. A man who provided for his peoples needs, and the beskar spears, the gift he had bestowed upon them. The forge became something of a religous artefact to Clan Undil, who took it upon themselves to worship it as his legacy.
However, there would of course come a day, when the two burgeoning societies would meet. At this point, rather than singular villages, there were now multiple. Towns even, were beginning to form. Civilistion was ever so slowly forming. Contact was inevitable. And after approximately four thousand years, the Clan Undil and the Nunduki did just that. Despite their forefathers having ironically stranded their descendants here on the field of battle, it was a peaceful union. The two traded, with one another, and grew close.
Of course there were minor transgressions between individual villages, which certainly hindered things, but ever so slowly, the two societies merged. They both found definitive commonality between one another, and this commonality, lead to them forming a united society. A social contract was formed, with the Mandalorians forming the warrior base, while the Nunduki, who soon began to call themselves Herda’di, after their recently deceased, but still influential chieftan, Herda Di, a man whose reign was blessed with bountiful harvest and childbirth. He became something of a minor God, but overall his legacy would be the name.
The Herda’di and the newly named Jund’ari were now an unstoppable force, and began to conquer their regional neighbours. Be they other survivalist groups, tribes, or homesteads, all fell under the yoke of their new conquerors. These new subjects in turn became the Liaa’tu. The formation of that word, is unknown, but the context was worker. Their conquest, and liquidation formed an indentured worker class who began to take away the more menial jobs the Herda’di once performed. The Herda’di in turn became more powerful, and as their new empire formed, on the back of Jund’ari war, they began to become lazy. Complacent, cruel and obscene.
As the Herda’di found themselves more established in their position, the Jund’ari were rewarded, and became the loyal attack dogs of the Herda’di. They achieved a special place in their new world, and exploited it. For roughly several hundred years, the conquests ensued, spreading the word of Nundu, and the new caste system employed by the Herda’di. The Jund’ari and Herda’di proceeded, and advanced as a civilisation almost unmolested. They built grand cities on the back of their conquests. Created new weapons of war, and began to refine themselves in the riches collected. No one could stand up to the might of the armies. The strength of the two casts, whom now called themselves the Pa’Deshi, was unbroken.
Until, they met the Twi’lek and Zabrak. When scouts informed the Jund’ari general Korast Narll of these new creatures from the mountains, with tails hanging from their heads, and horns growing where hair should, the man disregarded them as the ramblings of superstisious soldiers. However as troops began to cross into the mountainous Hora’davy region, he realised how wrong he was.
The Twi’lek and Zabrak had somehow managed to, over the course of thousands of years, keep their modern blasters in operation, in spite of the treacherous conditions. The Syndulla enclave had not moved their camp far from their crash site, and had repurposed the power generators aboard their former craft, to charge their blasters, albeit crudely. These weapons would not stand up against any modern force. But for the Pa’Deshi, whom had only known of beskar’gam spears and arrows, it seemed like magic. The religious leaders of Pa’Desh and the Bajdishah, or emperor, saw these enemies as though they had been bought from the very pit of hell itself.
For twenty long years, Pa’Deshi forces, fought a crusade against the Zabrak and Twi’lek survivalists. And for twenty years, they held. Lead by the guerrilla leader Killibal Syndulla, the resistance was a hard fought campaign. However, shear numbers simply overwhelmed the aliens, who fough a valiant last stand against the humans at Mount Vira’dal, a mighty volcano.
Killibal's last stand | Wookieepedia (x)
It was there, that rather than be captured, Killibal threw himself into the mighty peak to avoid the agonising execution at the hands of his sworn enemies. The religious Pa’Deshi immediately saw this as a sign that they had vanquished the demons, and that they had in fact returned them to the hell they had emerged from. The remaining Twi’lek and Zabraki were rounded up, and sent into the mines, where for the next six thousand years, they would work as slaves, becoming the Hostar’du.With no meaningful opposition to their reign, the Herda’di now consolidated their grasp, establishing ever larger cities in the jungle. Although they had achieved military supremacy, the need for technology and the evolution and progression of it continued. While technology advanced, them social views and norms held by the Pa’Deshi did not.
Sure, the Hostar’du were freed from slavery, but life on the outside of the mines, and camps was no better than slavery. With systematic persecution, and harassment at the hands of their fellow denizens. But the near institutional barring of women from any educational institutions continued, along with the rigorously enforced stratification caused by the caste system.
The political sphere was also stagnate, and backward. The Herda’di caste, no matter how inbred they had become, still hated each other. Various clans struggled against each other for the position of Raj, which was essentially a provincial, or city governor. Games of thrones were played in the background of the Forbidden Palace, meaning no real dynasty could cement itself in between the constant bickering and backstabbing. While to each other, the position of Badishah was tenuous, to the rest of the Pa’Deshi, the authority of a Badishah was absolute.
The Badishah’s authority went unchallenged for thousands of years until, 93BBY. When the first sign of outward contact came to the planet. Jedi, on a mission to chart the Outer Rim stumbled across the planet after a malfunction with their navicomputer. The Jedi arrived upon the planet, and were surprised to see such a civilisation, which had not achieved space flight, or hyperspace technologies.
The Jedi were greeted, as prophets of Nundu, and taken to the Badishah’s palace. It was there that they greeted by the man himself, and were, for a number of weeks treated to local hospitality. The Jedi, deciding they were advanced enough, sent out a beacon, to the Republic. Through a tenuous and tired process, the Pa’Desh was intergrated into the Galactic Republic over the course of a near decade. After it was given technology required for space travel, the planet was then given its own senate seat.
However, due to the backwards nature of the government, and its mistreatment of the Hostar’du, the Pa’Deshi grew tired in the Galactic Senates bickering. Fortunately for the Badishah, the senates bickering and ineffective ineffectiveness saw it take no formal actions or sanctions against the kingdom. As the Republic grew more and more tiresome, the Badishah at the time Jarmash Kha, was approached by the wealthy count from Seranno, and offered a position within a breakaway separatist movement.
Sensing an opportunity for diplomatic leverage, the man agreed, and Pa’Desh became one of the first systems to join the Confederacy of Independent Systems. In the leadup to the Clone Wars, the Jund’ari, after decades of demobilisation, were given their first chance to fight a war in nearly an age. Armed by the Trade Federation, and Techno Union, Pa’Desh began preparations to make a real impact on the Galaxy. Visions of grandeur, spurred on the public to arm, enlist. And manufacture. Within ten years, the largely agrarian society to an industrial powerhouse. The Hostar’du worked the mines overtime, plundering resources to create newer, and stronger battle droids in preparation for a war against the Republic.

When the war finally broke out, Pa’Deshi soldiers, saw combat in mainly defensive roles rather than leading the grand offensives many thought they were to perform. The Pa’Deshi despite this, distinguished themselves as well regimented combatants, even if many were learning while in the field. . For this, Pa’Desh was gifted by the CIS, several super tactical droids. The gift was designed to ensure that the soldiers which were deployed, were of higher quality.Pa’Desh’s alliance with the CIS however was shortlived. After eighteen months into the war, Republic vessels conquered nearby territories, and routed a Separatist fleet, which was defending trade access to the region. Proclaiming to the people Nundu had willed it, Kha surrendered, and was subsequently murdered in a palace coups. Republic forces now occupied the planet, and began to collaborate with the new Bahdishah, Gastora. Rach.
When the Republic fell, an was reformed into the new Galactic Empire, Pa’Desh enthusiastically joined Palpatine’s New Order as a member state. In order to compensate for any possible notions of disloyalty, Rach ordered the intergration of thousands of local forces into the Galactic Empire’s stormtrooper corps. The Galactic Civil War for Pa’Desh was in fact a prosperous period. The Empire invested heavily in local industry, and the planet prospered with new trade being bought to the planet. With the creation of technical industry, a new middle class formed.
The Empire’s fall saw a peaceful withdrawal of imperial troops from the planet, The Jund’ari troops now sent across the Galaxy serving with the Empire, made a name for themselves as bold combatants within the remnants of the Empire, as well as shock troopers who assisted with the foundation of the First Order. Over the decades, the survivors of these wars, and other conflicts trickled back to Pa’Desh, where they instilled new values into the military, revitalising it. Uniformity, loyalty and strength became the foundations of Pa’Desh’s military.
Pa’Desh remained decidedly neutral during the remainder of the wars fought in the Galaxy. Volunteers did fight on both sides during the Resistance-First Order war, and in their corner of the Galaxy, Pa’Deshi mercenaries became some of the best quality around. However, the official policy was isolationism. No government could truly serve Pa”Desh’s interests, with its rulers too focused on retaining their own power. It was during this return to isolationism, that kyber crystals were found in caverns deep within the jungles.

Groustu Habib three years after his coups | Wikipedia (x)
As the Galaxy politically imploded, with the advent of the Gulag Plague, Pa’Desh simply closed all the borders. However, during the four hundred year darkness, one of the greatest political changes to ever occur took place. In 752ABY, the head of the Almar’bieyara, Marshal Groustu Habib lead a coups, which saw the Harda’di overthrown in favour of Jund’ari rule. After roughly 9000 years of peace and Herda’di hegemony, they were overthrown.
For a generation chaos reigned. Although, outwardly, the autocracy remained in commnand, brutal purges, and reprisals became common. However, after a military crackdown, the Harda’di became subserviant. Instead, pursuing softer power, or monetary gain in the corporate sector. Some would still gain and attempt to join political office, but it was a shallow pursuit of old glory. The age of the Herda’di was over. A the age of Jund’ari began.
It was also around this time, the Chiss began to arrive in the system. Explorers, and exiles who had banded together to forge a new destiny amongst the stars. Venturing from the Unknown Regions, Chiss began to arrive onto the planet, and although initially resisted and shunned, began to impact society in ways many the conservative orthodoxy despised, but simultaneously loved. Chiss efficiency began to infiltrate society, and make it more effective. Factory output tripled within three years of their arrival. Chiss influence did not only extend to civilian industry, military efficiency grew as well, with the integration of Chiss officers within the military hierarchy.
Pa’Desh was now set and ready for the challenges the Galaxy’s reawakening would begin to throw. However as the Galaxy formed around it, it was clear, that despite the propaganda, the times were about to get hard.
Pa’Desh soon found its social norms being agitated against, and challenged by the lower classes. Women were becoming more integrated into men's society, the caste system was beginning to show fractures and the instability of the Habib coups was once again beginning to surface. That’s without looking further abroad, with the Galactic Alliance forming have seen fears of a hostile takeover, given their interventionist tendencies. To the south, the First Order rises, and although Pa’Deshi volunteers gave their lives to Supreme Leaders first war against the Alliance, the Badishah now fears with their expansion, and that Dosuun seeks to swallow the system and its resources. Only time will tell if these fears are founded, and if this thousands year old society can in fact survive in the years to come.
