SPECIAL FEATURES

  • 3x Gravastar+ Reactors - The heart of what the ship is built around, the Gravastar+ Reactors power the ship, but more importantly, the excess energy given by the Siaber Crystals within can be diverted to the weapons and shields of the ship to enhance their strength.
  • HIMS - In light of the events at Sector L-49, the Paladin-class Star Defender is equipped with a hyperspace inertia momentum stabilizing system to avoid being trapped by most interdiction fields.
Strengths:
  • Extremely well armed - The Paladin-class is loaded with plenty of firepower to deal with any enemy force it might come across, including the more exotic electromagentic plasma cannons.
  • Powerful defenses - The Paladin-class is equipped with two capital grade deflector shields and a triple-layered armor hull, meaning it is a very tough nut to crack
  • Gravastar Reactor Boost - Designed around three of Aurora's proprietary reactors, the ship can boost its weapon and shield power without worrying about a decline in power to other systems.
  • Marines - A whole contingent of Galactic Alliance marines and soldiers are stationed on board each one, giving it plenty of forces to either defend or invade.
Weaknesses:
  • Slow as a Bantha, and Turns Like One Too - The Paladin-class will not be winning any races anytime soon, nor will it be doing any drastic maneuvers to avoid the enemy.
  • Linked Reactors - The Gravastar Reactors, while offering a great deal of benefit, also can be a major weakness. If one of the reactors is damaged or destroyed, it will chain react across the rest of the reactors.
  • Overheating - Tied into the boost from the Gravastar Reactors, if the overclocking feature is used for too long, it will overload the systems being boosted. Shields will suffer stability, weapons won't be able to fire for a few moments, all proving critical in naval warfare.
  • Smaller Hanger - The Paladin-class sports a smaller hanger than what the Alliance is used to fielding, only having room for six squadrons.
Description:

With war erupting once again for the Galactic Alliance, Taeli and Aurora Industries had decided to help out with the war effort against the First Order. Knowing the Alliance navy had not been truly upgraded since the last war, and knowing that many of the Alliance-affiliated companies such as Incom or SoroSubb would be preparing upgrades of their own, Aurora would begin designing a brand new ship class for the GA, the Paladin-class Star Defender.

Marketed to Alliance High Command as a ship that could go blow for blow with the First Order's Resurgent Star Destroyers, the Paladin-class is equipped with an offensive weaponry selection of 1,500 turbolaser cannons, 1,500 ion cannons, 60 Proton Torpedo Launchers, 40 Concussion Missile Launchers, and 40 of Aurora's ship-scale Electromagnetic Plasma Cannons. Defensively, the Paladin-class is equipped with two capital-grade deflector shields and the hull has been triple armored, something the Aurora technicians learned from their Mon Calamari colleagues in the Directorate. It also is equipped with 200 Point Defense Laser Cannons to ward off enemy fighter craft and missiles.

Perhaps the crowning achievement of the Paladin-class are the three Gravastar+ Reactors that power the ship. Linked together, they provide the ship with an enormous amount of power to draw upon, with the added bonus that the reactors' overflow capacitors are tied into the ship's weapon and shield systems. This will allow the Paladin-class to increase the strength of their firepower and protection for short periods of time, as drawing too much on the extra power will short out the systems for a time.

Also, in light of the events in Sector L-49, with the First Order making use of powerful interdiction technology, the Paladin-class has been equipped with a HIMS so it cannot be trapped with most interdiction fields (although too many, and even the HIMS won't be able to break free).
