Parliament Poll

[Reverance]

Short Poll. We had a recent thread that involved discussion towards the idea of a parliament for the OS. We refined the idea down to something rather simple. So, do you think the OS could use something like a parliament?

Full disclosure: I'm voting yes. Why? Because I write a Sith Lord that uses his fists for persuasion but dang it, sometimes I want to be bribed too

The War Council is the body of the military/executive charged with coordinating the efforts of the military under the direction of the Wrath.


THE LEGISLATIVE BRANCH

The Will of the Emperor
The Speaker of His Will
The Speaker is elected by the legislative to be the chair of the body (and also the OOC moderator) identical the UK Speaker of the House of Commons. They are basically the Prime Minister (under the Emperor, Eye, Wrath, etc)


The Wills (aka. the Will of Tython)
These are the senators/planetary leaders. Each OS and OS sub-faction planet gets one vote in the body. They can make laws, go on diplomatic missions, and help run the government

Sith have always been more imperialistic. If you want government have governors of the worlds we control and use them for political matters fed from the emporer.

There's plenty of examples of Imperialistic governments that have a dedicated legislative institution.

Even Napoleon's French Empire had a parliament.

It is important to note, if you read closely, that the Wills are all also imperial governors of their respective planets.

No but seriously. I'd be in favor of something that aligns a little more with the canon flavor of the Empire. Planetary governors, a.k.a. Moffs. Little need to complicate things with all this. If I wanted a complicated bureaucracy and corrupt legislators posing as paragons of democracy, I'd join the Republic.

The entire story of SWTOR was based on treachery and the false assumption the Sith Empire actually cared about peace with Republic was nothing short of strong-armed tactics. Invade Coruscant.....sue for peace.
