Password Recovery - Your Display Name is not your Username.

If you need to change your password, please be aware that your display name - what we physically see - is not your username. When you get your password recovery e-mail, make sure to read it, grab your new generated password, and also make sure you know what your username is.

Don't be like me and convince yourself your display name, since you've had it so long, is your username. They are not the same thing.

We are on a new transactional e-mail server and the process is working. I know we've had some issues with it, but for now it's verified as working.

Not unusual. An admin was involved if your username was changed. Very likely if you changed your writer account when we offered those services.

Huh... maybe that is why I couldn't log in three years ago, and instead changed to exclusively logging in via Google...

I probably won't change this habit lol

How, if at all, do we find out (or create/change) our username/password if we created the account via Google or Facebook?

I've found it to be practically impossible to change my password from the one given via the email. Whenever I do, the system seems to forget both the new password, and the old password and forces me to resend a new one to my email.

Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

You're putting in your username wrong. Your username is Exodus.

If you're trying to change the password of a character account, you're not going to have any success.

I've just sent you a new e-mail with instructions enclosed for your Writer account, Exodus. You need to read this e-mail, carefully. When you're done, try again and let me know if you continue to fail and I will assist.

I will take a look at it in a few minutes. I have been inputting my writer account when attempting to sign in, and I have been trying to change the password on the writing account. The problem has occurred thrice.

I'd like to make it clear to everyone, as the one who usually tends to name-changes and rank title requests, that when I am asked to change the name of an account I also tend to change your username. Why?

Because if you sign up using the name of your character (eg. "Matthew"), that name is regarded as claimed until it is changed. Meaning if I were to change the name to "Dummy McGee" but left the username as is, the name "Matthew" would still be unavailable for others who might wish to use that very name. Granted, names like "Thurion Heavenshield" are pretty unique so the chance of someone else looking to create another character bearing that same name is slim to say the least, but you get my point.

So, unless your username happens to be something not related to your character's name (eg. "kittens4ever" or "1234coolio", etc.), be prepared that when you request a name-change for one of your characters, your username for that account will also be changed.

I hope this clears things up for those unaware. :)
