- The system is built around the concept of stopping all slow-moving projectiles in a wide radious around the user. Be it in their vehicle, their starship, or even their own personal Beskar'gam; the Soteria is the number one choice in stopping rockets, thermal detonators, grenades of all sorts, and even in a pinch the occasional rock. All this taken into account, it serves as a powerful defensive armament for the would be mercenary.
- Torrent Capable -
- While other systems have fast trackers, the Soteria goes a step further in actively transmitting its targeting data to any nearby Soteria and Acumen heads up displays. This allows the system to cover another soldier should their own Soteria be overwhelmed, or otherwise unable to target the slow moving projectile - or even warn nearby operators about the thermal detonator a Soteria was unable to stop.
- The Shorter the Barrel -
- While the system carries 'verpine' rounds and even a quick tracking laser, the reality is that it has almost no potential to do more than a harsh burn on the normal opponent. Even the buckshot rounds, with no barrel to speak of besides the smallest rail gun required, is unable to so much pierce the skin. It would be akin to shooting someone with an airsoft gun - and while annoying, would be harmless.
- Lower Battery Life -
- The second issue with the Soteria is that it isn't meant to be used excessively - meaning that it can stop a number of explosives or missiles, or even grenades; but it is quick to be overused. With only a few actual buckshot rounds, and a battery life capable of shooting only a limited number of lasers at opponents - it can provide quick and instantaneous cover for the would be victim, but only so long before it fails.
Following Jaeger's history of making essential parts for armor systems around the galaxy, Jaeger R&D experimented with a system that allowed a power armor wearer to protect themselves from pesky RPGs, thermal detonators, or anything to bypass their powerful plates. In this, Jaeger took inspiration from ancient tech - but instead of simply letting it remain large and cumbersome, they modernized it into a competing and ever growing market.
The PDS-63 works by using a powerful, focused laser mounted on a repulsor based gimbal system. This allows it to not only find targets extremely quickly, but to fire on them just as fast; helping to nuetralize slow moving targets long before they get into danger close proximity. Taking this targeting information, the "Soteria" is also capable of sharing it on the fly with linked in systems across the battlefield to make the system as efficient and effective as possible; helping to reduce explosion related deaths in the galaxy by well over 60% in some areas.
Overall, the system is capable of protecting lives on the battlefield in ways that armor can only do so much for. Yet another addition to Jaegers large arsenal for armor components, the Soteria will find its place along the likes of the Vishnu or Acumen as a reliable Jaeger Product found on most armor systems around the galaxy.
