The Pearl of Manaan is a Hammerhead-class Cruiser that was purchased by Admiral Laulesh from a ship graveyard in the outer rim. Being rather cheap due to its age and state of disrepair the Freesail Admiralty was able to use the savings from this salvaged ship to renovate, repair, and refit it into something far more modern over the course of several standard months. The design philosophy behind the Pearl of Manaan was to create a command ship that would provide enhanced communication stability and the ability to disrupt hostile communications. A turreted missile rack was added to cruiser hull with its primary purpose being to dispense Connor Net missiles. Hammerhead-class Cruisers have been known to ram much larger starships in history and come out of the ordeal alive. In order to make use of this foundational design advantage a RR-51 Chem Injector Suite from SoroSuub was installed to drastically increase the Pearl of Manaan's speed in comparison to others in its class.
Much of the Pearl of Manaan 's advantages are based off of advanced electronic systems. And while it is a modernized variant of the older Hammerhead-class Cruisers it still lacks significant electromagnetic pulse weapon defenses.
