Pel is a complicated man with a long history of living in the midst of war. He is highly empathetic, forming strong bonds with others quickly, and often feeling their pain. However, he has learned to live with physical, mental, and emotional pain as a result, which has numbed him to the horrors around and within him. He has strong feelings that he struggles to hide. It is easy to become his friend or his enemy quickly, and few relationships are shallow either way. Despite his willingness to go to extremes at the expense of himself and others, he goes to great lengths to justify his actions as being part of the greater good.
STRENGTHS
- Sympathetic Attunement - Pel is extremely sensitive to the presence and emotions of himself and others in the Force
- Genius - Pel has spent much of his life in medical sciences and studying Force Lore, including Force Alchemy
WEAKNESSES
- Sympathetic Attunement - Although his attunement has many uses, he struggles to hide his own presence and emotions, and his attunement can turned against him
- Failed Self Experimentation - Attempts to augment himself with Sith Alchemy in his youth backfired, and as a result he is in chronic pain
Born at the height of the Incursion, Pel was taken from his homeworld of Duros as the Sith Empire took over the Galactic Alliance. As a result, he did not know his biological family or his culture as he was whisked off to be trained in the Dark Side almost immediately. When he was a teenager, the Sith Empire fell into civil war with the New Imperial Order and, short on power and resources, the young Acolyte was shuffled off to fight on behalf of the Sith against the Mandalorians. Here, he found himself having to use his powers to stitch together Stormtroopers to send them back in the fight, and he delved into whatever dark solutions he could find as a shortcut to alleviating their suffering and getting troopers back into the fight.
It was the destruction of Csilla that shook him to the core. Although he had never been, the destruction of a world was a horrible thought, and he felt its destruction in the Force itself. It drove him to the brink of madness, and Pel sought even greater power in an attempt to get ready for the worst the Galaxy had to offer. Pel fought in the Second Clockwork Rebellion, watching the Sith Order crumble around him. As the Sith Civil War raged, Pel left the Sith Order to pursue his own goals, finding patrons within the various Imperial and Sith successor states. Many of his experiments involved attempts to augment warriors and soldiers, as well as conducting difficult surgeries. It was during this period that he theorized the possibilities of sympathetic reactions through the Force, as well as his belief that the Force may be wielded and manifested by groups of people, not just individuals, regardless of their sensitivity to the Force.
In the last twenty years, Pel has found that the Sith are too obsessed with power politics, and many other Imperial states were busy forming their own distinct cultures that did not appeal to Pel's pan-galactic sensibilities. Pel fancied himself an independent agent, fashioning himself as an Inquisitor of no particular order, although he became closely associated with the formal Inquisition of the Empire of the Lost. When they suffered an economic and political collapse and reformed into the Imperial Sector Authority, Pel found himself in need of additional resources, and has since stepped up his involvement in a bid to acquire political power and new resources for his experiments.
In 883, Pel married a Duros woman, Nakiri, but their marriage ended in 896, although they continue a rocky but passionate relationship. They have three children: Bawrad, born in 885; Norik, born in 887; and their youngest, Fon, born in 899.
