People to trust

Standing in the main galley of the ship, the pilot was looking at the gathered. They had all signed up for what they knew was a specific job. And that was why he was here. Looking between the men and women gathered. The Corellian grinned. The droids were getting their last data dumps from the ship. They weren’t the only ship that had landed, but they were the first. There were two others following and they were only going to be able to unload and then catch up with the battlegroup fast. He knew what he was doing was right, and the ones with him? They had expressed their concerns.

What he had to do though, was just hope the one he contacted would show. The Galactic Empire had shown their face at the planet of Dagobah, but that wasn’t the concern. The Alliance could handle the Empire, they always had. The Sith, the Empire, the First Order, it was all different branding on the same problem. It was corruption, the dark side, and a wave that could hit the galaxy hard, and drown out any hope.

That last word, that was the one to focus on.

“We’ve got the caches being set up. As soon as I can get credits to you, we’ll send them. Arm you with ship and whatever we can spare. Just keep the faith.” The Corellian patted his friend, a Sullustan, on the back. “I know you won’t let me down.” He looked to the human that was next to him and grab the man a handshake. “We’ll see you on the other side. May the Force be with you.” He offered a wink to a female who was stepping off the ship before he did a sweep through and approached the boarding ramp.

“We’re going to need it.” He said as he closed the ramp slowly. Making his way back to the cockpit. One more stop, then we need to make it back to the battlegroup.” Sure, with the YT-2000 Tachyon Rising. “You did send out the communication, didn’t you?” The droid beeped in the affirmative. “Figured you did. Lets hope it got through.”

Hours later, Coren Starchaser was on the station, one of those waystations set up for travelers who were making jumps and needing to refuel. Sitting at the counter, he was tapping a ring on the table. He knew that advertising that he was part of the Underground wasn’t always the best way to go about it, but it kept him busy while he was waiting. Yes, he had a bit of a falling out with the pilot he was hoping was going to show up. The trick was, he needed her help. He let her know that beforehand, but now, it was that he had to keep up with the promise.

He knew what he was doing. He just had to keep the hope.

“You know I told them all I was going to ignore this.” Her tone was, less then impressed, but the arrival of Kira Vaal behind Starchaser was a fortunate sign that his message had reached who it was intended to and that she at least heeded the words. “He however…” A stare was offered towards the large Wookie that had taken a place at the food station on the far side of the room. “…figured I still owe you one or two.” A slight smirk crossed her features as the Jedi slid into the chair opposite Coryn, her feet coming up to rest on the table.

The journey here hadn’t been easy. Kira had some fresh responsibilities within the Mara Corridor that had seen her have to skip around certain planets currently engrossed with war and report them back to the trade council of any interesting developments. It had given her time to test the newer systems on the Falcon, including the upgrade to the sub-lights which had increased its already substantial speed.

When the message had come in, Kira had practically thrown it across the hanger bay muttering about lost causes and the nerve of it all. However it had only taken three jumps for Charlwook to convince her that Coryn wasn’t the Alliance itself and that if he was asking for help it had to be with an important matter. Beside’s the Starchaser’s had helped Kira so much when she first got involved in galactic events that she at least owed him a chat.

So now here they were. Face to face for the first time in years.

“All aside, it’s good to see you Starchaser.”

There was work to be done, and yes, maybe the Alliance was misstepping. He had abandoned the Alliance, and those he stood with, for years. But when he got back, they were contacting the Confederacy, and their darksiders. Well, maybe not straight forward. He heard that it was the Silvers who had contacted the Confederacy. Not as bad, but he knew how it looked. Still, the group did fight the Empire on their behalf, and Coren wasn’t only upset about the Confederacy. If they were the first Dark Siders, it could mean there were others that would show up. And the Sentinel wasn’t going to let that happen.

Looking up, he nodded, and was fighting a small satisfied smirk that crossed his features. He was hoping his IFF would go unchecked, letting the Tachyon Rising be seen as the WaveRun for long enough that he was in system. If someone looked at it, or trouble broke out? He could get so boned.

“Glad to see you, kid.” Coren looked at Kira. “Still fighting the good fight, I hope. I know, and don’t blame you for what actions you too…” He was getting ahead of himself. He sensed it in Kira, she was a Jedi, and that meant she was someone he needed. The thing with Coren, was he part of the Underground, he approached things his own way, but for now, the Alliance was in the direction he wanted things to go, so he was the patriot, the zealot, for the Alliance.

Sometimes, though, big machines needed the extra push.

“Drink?” He asked as he nodded to the server. What he needed was to just make an excuse for them to talk. And he wasn’t sure who was listening. “Been hearing the stories of you, running around. Trade deals? Working with Wardens?” It was all important.
