The People's Bank of Coruscant (PBC), sometimes referred to as the Bank of Galactic City (PGC), is among the largest of banking institutions on Coruscant and the oldest in the galaxy. Though its chief business is providing traditional banking and financial services to the general public, it also acts as an investment bank, where it acquires equity in startup businesses. It also acts as a central bank for the Galactic City Authority, responsible for currency management and monetary policy. Though there is no shortage of accumulated wealth or banking institutions in the galaxy, the PBC has garnered a reputation for the lengths it will go through to collect its debts.
RATIONALE
The People's Bank of Coruscant was founded some millennia ago, where operations were concentrated largely on the planet of Coruscant itself, with the planet's massive domestic population and robust business environment to sustain itself. In the wake of the Netherworld event, business faltered, as it faced the loss of much of its directors, staff, and customers. Crippled by this sudden, unexplainable loss in assets, the Galactic City Authority established a board to select candidates to serve as temporary Board appointees. Among them was Zeradias Mant, former CSF officer and then-Inspector General of the One Sith Navy.
As a part of PBC's reconstruction efforts, it leveraged the One Sith's centralized infrastructure to quickly expand to other Core worlds. This effort, along with the gradual repopulation of the galaxy, allowed for discounted expansion with the prospect of exponential growth. After the fall of the One Sith, Mant was forced to abdicate his board seat as he relocated to the Unknown Region with the upstart Iron Empire.
Following his return to Coruscant and the completion of his terms as Mayor of Galactic City, the PBC Board of Directors reappointed him to the Board as its Vice Chairman. Following the retirement of the Executive Chair, Mant was named to fill the position, but was the target of an assassination attempt which cast the appointment into uncertainty. As the Board continues to recalculate its approach to the vacancy, PBC continues to conduct operations as normal.
