Morality Policeman :)
I like to be decently open to RP with various people. Really, if you like to write a good story and not try to chop my head off in the first three posts, I'll try to give you some RP time.
I find a lot of people seem to stick to their little circles of buddies. While it's great to have a group of awesome writer friends (I have one as well, don't get me wrong.), I think many people become really exclusive and turn down other writers just because their writing abilities are not top level or they're just not someone they're familiar with. Or maybe you believe the myth that totally open threads are hopeless. (To which I would respond: You had a bad open thread experience because you didn't set the proper ground rules--which does not mean restricting a thread to invite-only.)
So that's why I'm posting this thread. I want to recognize the writers I've stumbled upon who have been a pleasant surprise and just a real joy to write with. As that little kid, Calvin, once said, "There's treasure everywhere!" I want to learn about the unsung heroes!
First off, I'll mention my Lost Cause crew, just because they're totally awesome and not much more needs to be said. They are my regular writing posse, however, so I won't dwell on that.
Next, we'll get down to serious business.
[member="Kalizka"], please stand up! I haven't written much with him, and I'm not really a fan of Mandos. But I have encountered his [member="Ordo"] character in threads on occasion, and I can say that he is a great person to work with! He plays fair, is respectful, has a positive and encouraging personality. He even has taken hits when I feel like the other writer didn't deserve to get a hit.
His [member="Gordosa"] character makes me laugh or at least smile everytime. I'm serious. Everytime. This guy is a great community member, and Chaos should be ecstatic to have him around.
Another writer I really love is [member="Jaycob Lynx"]. Totally honest? I think he could use a little work on his literature skills. But otherwise, I would consider him an awesome role-player. He is all about the story. He takes hits. He touches on his characters' character and emotions.
I've especially had experience with his [member="Carden Lorps"] character, and I can vouch that he knows how to emphasize his characters' weaknesses rather than be an indefatigable force of pure brawn and titanic power--and this actually makes him more fun (and his posts funny)! He's not a human punching bag, but a believable person who seems to have a bad luck streak and actually has a fear of engaging in heavy combat. It's not cowardly to run away if your character is naturally a coward! He plays this superbly, in my opinion.
Lastly (for now), the writer [member="Nivag"] has caught my eye. He has a couple of wandering Forcies out there who I've seen do the oddest things--and it works! It's not that he threads in a surreal fashion or aims for shock factor, but maybe his Sith character will walk into a bar filled with lightsiders... and he never even makes his move for his lightsaber. It's non-cliche variances like that that really draw me into a story--something very unexpected on this board, and that makes it all the more interesting.
Now it's your turn! I'd like to see more of you recognize your unsung heroes!
