After damaging his one of his first two lightsabers in a dual, Lao Tzu broke down his remaining functioning lightsaber and combined it with the previous damaged one. Prior to this they were both fairly basic lightsabers. Lao Tzu spent the time and energy needed to create a new lightsaber that was better in all aspects.
The unstable synthetic, but attuned to him, Crystal replaced the damaged Dantari crystal with a properly fitted Phobium emitter with a Pontite lens. No expense was too high for Lao Tzu as he spent hours and plenty of resources to acquire the best materials for his only lightsaber and the various parts for it. Its Utilitarian design mark was not missed by its outward appear of its Sentinel design but the various inner works cost a minor fortune by most. Its Diatium power cell is top of the line while all the connections and various other components within the lightsaber are top notch.
