Petitioning a Queen

It had been a few days since the event, and even now she was hesitant to step into the building where it had happened - though she had to see the Queen - in fact she almost demanded it in a way before saying please. She had spent much of the time crying - it would show had she not taken the time to doll herself up with the appropriate amount of cosmetics. Still her eyes and cheeks hurt from all the sobbing, and her voice, it was almost non existent at this point - a simple squeak from time to time.

Of course if [member="Fiore de Noir"] wasn't at her side, then it was them, the Knights of the Pyre. At least four of them at anyone time, heavily armed and heavily armored. As they walked down the hall, it seemed that they quickly pushed anyone out of the way - even if it was an assistant or guard in the Senate Hall, they were quickly pushed against a wall and questioned before being permitted to be on their way. It made Imperia feel as though she was untouchable... and maybe that wasn't such a bad thing in this moment.

When they got to the office of the Queen, the doors would fly open, two of the Knights stepping in first before Imperia was escorted in. The young woman was in awe, though she hadn't known what was "appropriate" in terms of attire and meeting with a queen, so she was in her usual dress and style. The young woman though had a small stack of papers tucked under her arm, and a soft smile on her lips as she looked at the Queen.

"Your... your highness..."

She offered a curtsy before approaching the woman.

"This... this is a petition of redress..."

Her voice was barely audible, though she pressed on.

"Its seeking the assistance of yourself in ensuring the safety of House Sorenn-Syrush of which I am now the head of, and requesting that we be permitted to retain full ownership of the Ishanna System with rights to neighboring systems which will be placed under a doctrine of Isolationism..."

Her hands trembled slightly as she held the papers out to [member="Lady Kay"]

Kay jumped as the doors to her office opened and the Knights stormed in. She nearly spilled her tea all over herself. Yet instead she managed to just spill some of it on her desk. Quickly she pulled out her kerchief from a drawer and began soaking it up.

Her brows furrowed as [member="Imperia Sorenn-Syrush"] stepped inside. Kay offered her a polite bow of her head, noting very well the look of someone that had spent much of her time crying.

Kay listened and slowly took hold of the datapad giving it a quick look over. "I'm sorry for...Amelia's fate. If it were up to me, things would have happened differently. She was a great person, despite the bad judgement. But sometimes...we pick a fight with the wrong people." Kay had never seen Imperia, so she knew little of their relation.

"Isolationism? That isn't going to entirely keep you safe. House Sorenn-Syrush will need to make ammends, just as I have had to when my husband attacked Deneba. Both incidents have caused me to scramble and put out fires." She was just wishing that she wasn't too late to stop the madness before it got out of hand.

She was still young - that much was known to be true - so the moment that she was told amends had to be made, something within her seemed to snap. All the emotions of the last few months had welled up within her once more, her golden-yellow hues soon flashed to a vibrant and brilliant blue hue. A snarl escaped her lips as she looked upon the Queen and growled out as her fists balled in anger, almost crumbling the papers in her hand.

"Amends!? Amends!? My mother paid with her life and you stood by as she was killed!"

"Imperia! No!"

As she took a step forward towards the queen, it was one of the guards that quickly closed the gap, his hand grabbing her shoulder. A firm squeeze and a slight pull back brought her away from a near catastrophe of her own causing. The young woman seemed to regather her composure for a moment before she looked at the papers crumbled and crushed in her hands.

"No! no no no no no..."

She began to mumble to herself and quickly rushed to a desk, her hands pressing the papers down as she began to attempt to smooth them back out. Her focus so much so upon the papers that she hadn't even realized she stood in the sun - her skin beginning to blister and burn as she worked on keeping the papers smoothed out.

"No, we need these papers, we need them..."

She cried out when she was pulled away from the table, an arm wrapped around her waist as the Knight held her close, shielding her from further harm. The other quickly pulled a flask from his hip, pressing the flask to her lips so she could drink deep before a heavy sigh escaped. The Knight stood and straightened himself out before looking to Kay.

"I am sorry your highness, she's been under a lot of stress as of late. She needs your help - if nothing is done she'll loose everything, not just her home or the companies - the life of one of your citizens is on the line, can you really turn her away for a mistake her mother made?"

The Knight looked back to Imperia as she began to sob again, her attention on the papers before the Knight approached and lift them from where they rest on the desk as he held them out to her once more.

"Would you turn your back on her?"

Kay frowned, folding her arms across her chest as [member="Imperia Sorenn-Syrush"] accused her of just standing by when Amelia was killed. The woman was just angry and taking it out on others. That was a normal process for grief. She had to remember that.

One of the guards took control of the situation right away. And that was a good thing. The last thing that she needed was to throw more people into cells.

Kay took the papers in hand. "I cannot just give away the system only for you to have it isolated from everyone. That's not what we are about. Co-operation and trade is what binds us together. It's what the people that live in the systems in our territory want and we have to listen to them. The companies are yours and their bases of operation are your jurisdiction, but I cannot have the system isolated. Not when there is so much going in and out of there already. People want freedom, not restrictions."
