Years ago, Phaelix acted as The Family’s personal dealer when they owned a casino on Coruscant. He performed his duties admirably - developing a reputation for loyalty and reliability. When The Family went into hiding and nearly disappeared from the Galaxy entirely, Phaelix was all-but forgotten about; reduced to working several dead-end jobs as a poorly-paid bartender or card-shark, grifting to make a living, and surviving on whatever he could pickpocket, steal, or cajole. He did manage to keep in touch with some members of The Family still present on Coruscant, but their ability to assist him was drastically reduced as they-too were on the run. After a few years of living this way (and at least one suicide attempt due to depression), Phaelix was tracked down by his once-employer - Ivory Stroud - and offered a new position within the new Family.
His loyalty tested and having successfully proven himself, The Family has installed Phaelix as their Gatekeeper within the Star Lounge; he serves as The Family’s “Fixer” and street-level Contact. Anyone looking to do business with The Family upon visiting the restaurant must first make contact with him.
He possesses access to some Family Resources and is commonly used to pass messages between different groups of Associates who frequent the location. Phaelix is adept at reading body language, and is a master Empath - though he possesses no inherent Force sensitivity. His friendly demeanor conceals an extremely clever criminal mind and if pushed to the point of anger, he is willing to subvert, manipulate, and indirectly make their lives incredibly difficult or painful.
There is a saying, "Never screw with the people who handle your food or your medical care." This saying was made with people like Phaelix in mind.
