One With The Force: Guardians are taught inner balance - able to achieve an equilibrium within themselves that allows for precise thought, reaction and feats that could be considered superhuman. This is achieved through a careful combination of channeling the Living Force and a complete faith that the Will of the Force will guide their mortal coil to safety, or its otherwise predestined fate.Faith in The Whills: Phaiden is driven in his quests by a faith in his actions - allowing him a passionate resolve that can keep him going through the most trying and traumatic of times. This mental fortitude allows him to resist powers of mind just as well as physical pain and mental traumas. While he is still a Near-Human, and still at the mercy of emotions, his devotion gives him an edge at never giving up - despite the costs.
A Master & A Teacher: Phaiden has proven himself a loyal teacher and master to the disciples of the Kyber Temple at Kro Var - earning him a loyalty among the younger generations. His words are listened to intently and has allowed him to grow an unofficial following among some of the most devote of disciples.
The Force is With Me: The Guardians have trained their members in many forms of martial combat and each sect is taught in the force traditions of the world they are posted to. Though Phaiden lacks refinement in his force skills, due to the lack of a true master, he is a qualified martial artist that combines the living force into his physical attacks. The mystic arts still call for him and he still seeks them out.

Lost in Another Time: Phaiden's temple has purposely done all that it can to isolate itself from the rest of the galaxy and thus there is a general lack of understanding between the Guardians and the galaxy outside the world they are on. They do not have a clear understanding of galactic politics and have a poor understanding of usual customs - they understand only what their religious codes and teachings have allowed them to. This sometimes leads to a misinterpretation of people, events and history. The Price of Ritual: The Guardians made habit of utilizing exclusively ritualistic weapons, which did not include many ranged weapons. Phaiden is trained in the use of energy bows, fighting staffs and swords but is ill-equipped to use more powerful (and often more effective) modern blasters that are available.
Burdened by Kyber: Over the centuries since the Plague, many Guardians have come to rely on Kyber to boost their force abilities in the absence of true training. By using the force to connect with Kyber Crystals, many Guardians are able to use the crystals as a conduit in which to boost their own effectiveness. Phaiden is one such Guardian, but this is far more a weakness than a strength as the Guardian must rely on the proximity of an attuned crystal to effectively use The Force.
A Certain Point of View: The religious views of his own personal quest makes Phaiden hard to negotiate with in many instances and his view of the universe is near unshakable as it has been sculpted by years of indoctrination.

Being a Morellian by heritage, Phaiden has lived sixty-years of life but only appears to be a human male no older than his mid-forties and he will likely appear this age for the next sixty years. Keeping with his upbringing as a warrior monk, Phaiden has kept his body in fighting shape through constant practice. Slim and sculpted for agile, yet powerful strikes and elaborate movements, Phaiden could be compared to many elite gymnasts or cage fighters. His skin and eyes are also known to have a faint, yet other worldly glow about them and some say this is a result from the constant meditation sessions around the powerful kyber crystals that all Guardians must attend. While this faint glow works to mainly see his skin appear pale, they have a striking effect on his naturally amber eyes - making them appear to glow deeply like crystals in their own right. As is tradition in the Kyber Temple of Kro Var, Phaiden keeps his hair shaven completely down on his face and head - never allowing either to grow out. As is also tradition, he bears a branded mark on his forehead of the Kro Var Temple's emblem to signify he has passed the trials of the Guardians to become a full member of the temple (This emblem can be seen in the dividers of this profile).
He is almost exclusively seen in lightweight, yellow/brown robes that signify his status as Gatekeeper of the temple.

Phaiden, like many at the Kro Var Kyber Temple, can trace his lineage back to the original Guardians of the Whills who had first founded the temple sometime between the destruction of the Holy City of Jedah and the final death of Darth Krayt. Viatrix Maez, Phaiden's Morellian ancestor, was apart of the first wave of Guardians to migrate to the Temple in order to safeguard the holy site. Her genes have passed down successfully for generations, intermixing primarily with native Kro Var and various humans. A point of pride for the Maez line is that no member of the family tree has ever deserted the Kyber Temple, a feat that was hard to accomplish after the Gulag Plague caused a mass exodus just prior to the temple being sealed off. This familial devotion was not taken lightly by the other Guardians over the years and has led to several of the Maez line garnering prestigious positions within the Temple. Both Phaiden's parents, for example, had Grand Preceptors - Guardian Teachers who are recognized as being so wise in their field of study that they are mandated with overseeing all other preceptors teaching in the same field. In predictable fashion, Phaiden saw his way of serving the Will of the Force as perusing the same coveted title. Unlike his parent's, however, Phaiden's interest did not lay in the teaching of scripture but in the honing of the Guardian's Martial Skills.
Phaiden worked vigorously to master every art known to the Guardians and lived on a regiment of day-to-day training and meditation. While all Guardians had demanding schedules devoted to service of The Force, Phaiden was one of only few who showed exemplary devotion to mastering their chosen path. Forty-five years of dedication to his training earned Phaiden the eye of the Temple's leadership and for his part, they bestowed on him an even greater title of honor than either of his parents.
He was to be the Gatekeeper of the Temple - a Martial Master whose skills in personal combat was believed to be great enough to not only defend the gate but train the coming generations of Guardians. No one could leave or enter the temple without his permission and as such, he would directly serve the Will of the Force through admittance in and out of the temple.
It has been three years since Phaiden's ascendance to the title of Gatekeeper and soon, The Force may guide him onto a very unexpected path...
