Advanced Features

Strengths
  • Power-Assisted Servos - Heavier than most armors due in part to the materials utilized in its construction - predominately Alusteel and Doonium; which are often used in the production of Starships. Like its predecessor, Phase II Canoness Battle Armor is difficult to operate with the assistance of a series of power-assisted servos. These servos, dispersed throughout the armor, assist the operator in ensuring that the armor functions properly both on and off the field of battle.
  • Augmented Strength - The primary byproduct of the above mentioned Power-Assisted Servos; operators wearing the Phase II Canoness Battle Armor have reported and experienced a slight increase in their own strength while functioning in the armor. However, this strength is not superhuman - as while one may be able to push over a vehicle a bit more easily, they would otherwise still be incapable of holding said vehicle aloft over their head.
  • Reconfigurable Pack - The pack itself often contains Munitions Cartridges and standard equipment that one would find a soldier possessing in a standard pack. The difference is that this pack is capable of being refitted and augmented as a mission calls or deems necessary. Some reconfigurations include, Oxygen Tanks, Bacta Dispensers, Long-Range Communications Equipment, Additional or Heavier Munitions, Explosives, or any other myriad of equipment required for a particular mission.
  • Sealed Against Biological and Chemical Attacks - An integrated filtration system coupled with specialized seals within the helmet and throughout the armor seal the operator off from biological or chemical agents that would otherwise have an adverse effect on the individual. However, this system does not permit the individual to operate in an environment that is not conducive to their species' breathing requirements.
  • Airtight - Much like its predecessor, the Phase II Canoness Battle Armor is capable of being sealed to provide an airtight environment with enough oxygen for up to twenty-minutes of continued operation in hazardous environments such as the Vacuum of Space, Toxic Atmospheres, or Underwater to mention a few examples. This duration can be increased with a pack that has been reconfigured to carry additional oxygen supplies; allowing the individual continued operation of up to an hour.
  • Ablative Plating - An additional safeguard that was lacking from the Phase I armor. This plating offers increased protection capabilities against additional types of damage, particularly against electrical sources such as Ion Blasts.

Weaknesses
  • Sonic - The armor lacks in any kind of proper means to protect the operator from Sonic based weaponry. While one or two bursts from a Sonic Weapon may cause minimal damage, continuous fire or heavier bursts - such as those from a Sonic Cannon are more than enough to essentially liquify the operator inside of the armor.
  • Heavy Arms - Although the materials utilized in the armor's construction are often used in the production of Starships - allowing it to withstand small arms fire from sources such as low caliber slugthrower rounds and low yield blaster bolts; the armor itself is not impervious to damage. Higher yield blaster bolts - such as those from heavier weapons or blaster cannons - and larger caliber slugs are more than capable of tearing into the armor without much difficulty.
  • Slow Burn - Like many armors, the Phase II Canoness Battle Armor has little to no resistance against Lightsabers. While potentially capable of withstanding one or two glancing blows or strikes against extremities, the armor is otherwise incapable of withstanding sustained strikes in the same location or - as seen on Episode I the Phantom Menace - having a lightsaber plunged directly into the armor.
  • Heavy - The armor is not suitable for utilization in those theaters of war that involve the following terrains such as, Mud, Sand, Bogs, or other similar geographical features that would cause the armor to sink or rendered immobile. In other such cases, without the proper preparation, the armor is capable of sinking, resulting in the operator suffocating or drowning within the armor.
  • Lockup - Although equipped with systems to assist in mitigating the effects of Ion and EMP based weaponry; the armor is still vulnerable to these forms of damage - specifically the servos. While the armor may be capable of shrugging off a few strikes from these weapons, sustained, concentrated fire from these sources still have the capability of shutting off or otherwise damaging the power-assisted servos. Were this to happen, the armor would become immobile, all but trapping the operator inside.
  • Impaired Movement - A byproduct of the Ablative Plating and additional upgrades to the armor is Impaired Movement. Though minimal, it often means that the wearer is incapable of rapid movements or precise movements as one would be capable of in lighter materials or those armors that are not as cumbersome.

Description
Phase II Canoness Battle Armor retains many of the design features, materials, and capabilities as its predecessor, albeit with the addition of a handful of systems and resistances that the Phase I armor was lacking. Manufacturing of the armor is still done utilizing materials that are often used in the production of Starships, making for a heavier though sturdier armor that is capable of withstanding sustained abuse and continue to function properly. Capable of withstanding small arms fire from small-caliber kinetic rounds and low yield blasters - it is still incapable of withstanding strikes from high yield weapons such as blaster cannons, and large-caliber rounds designed to penetrate thick armor. This capability and functionality, however, is often utilized by operators to not only shield themselves but also shield those placed under their care by utilizing the armor as a shield. The trade-off for the armor being constructed of heavier materials is that the armor is heavy and bulky, with operators having difficulty utilizing the armor under their own strength. In an attempt to mitigate this, the armor is outfitted with a series of Power-Assisted Servos that are located throughout the suit - these servos also supplement the operator's own strength - though not to any kind of super-human level.

The introduction of an Ablative Plating offers the suit protection against electrical-based sources of damage - such as Ion weapons. However, it comes at the trade-off of limited mobility while utilizing the armor; and though capable of withstanding limited or sporadic fire and strikes from Electrical and Ion Weapons, sustained, continuous attack from such weapons can still render the suit immobile via locking up or destroying the power-assisted servos. Likewise, the armor lacks any kind of proper means to protect an operator against the effects of Sonic based weaponry - though one or two bursts would not be sufficient to cause serious damage, successive bursts or those such as from Sonic Cannons, would be more than enough to effectively liquefy the operator inside of the armor. Additionally, the armor lacks any kind of protection to deal with lightsabers - capable of withstanding glancing blows; it is a completely different story when it comes to successive blows in the same location, or if the lightsaber were merely jammed into the armor - effectively melting it from the inside out.

Furthermore, the armor's heavyweight and lack of mobility make it ill-suited for operating in theaters that contain environmental hazards such as Sand, Mud, Bogs, or other such geographical features that have the potential of causing the armor to become immobile or sink. Though this is not to say that the armor does not have its strengths or that it is not an improvement of the Phase I predecessor - even if the improvement can be seen as minimal at best. Capable of being pressurized with an airtight seal, the armor can be operated for up to twenty minutes in hazardous environments such as the Vacuum of Space; though this limit can be increased up to an hour provided that the configurable pack is properly outfitted with additional oxygen tanks. And, like the Phase I armor, Phase II retains its ability to be fully sealed against both biological and chemical attacks to protect the wearer; with the armor's greatest strength still being the configurable pack that can be equipped for a myriad of roles as a mission calls or requires.
