- Functions as an energy shield system which provides all-aspect protection against virtually all conventional threats on the modern battlefield, including energy weapons, kinetic weapons, lightsabers, heat-based weaponry/flamethrowers, cold-based weaponry, and EMP/Ion weaponry.
- Utilizes technology derived from molecular shielding to absorb energy weapons’ fire and convert it to power either the shield itself or any of the host platform’s systems.
- Alternatively, the shield can be set in an electrical feedback mode, where energy from attacks that hit the shield is instantaneously returned to its point of initial firing via a powerful electrical discharge that has a very high chance of inflicting extreme-degree electrical burns on both armored and unarmored organic targets. Kinetic energy from solid projectiles will also be converted into a similar reactive electrical discharge.
- The energy of the reactive electrical discharge is roughly proportional to the power quotient of the initial energy discharge that strikes the shield. In essence, the quotient of absorbed energy from weapons’ fire that strikes the shield is typically equal to the power of the electrical feedback.
- Polarized shielding allows particle and energy discharges to travel out of the shield, while simultaneously stopping any bolts or projectiles from entering.
- Shield facings are linked directly to the operator’s various HUD and electronic systems. As such, upon being struck by an attack, the operator and/or crew of the host platform may immediately know its origin point with frightening precision, which is calculated based on a number of factors including angle of impact, power quotient, bolt coherency, kinetic energy, data from the host platform's own sensors, and more.

- Field Disruption Systems: Field disruption systems are unable to bypass the Force Avenger, as the energy discharged from “disruptive energy fields” will be absorbed by the shield and converted into power or immediately discharged back at the field disruptor’s operator in the form of a powerful electrical current.
- Anti-Ray Shield Energy Weapons: Exotic anti-ray shield energy weapons, while extremely rare, are nonetheless capable of bypassing the shield to cause damage directly to the operator behind it.
- Sonic Weaponry: Sonic waves are capable of bypassing the shield entirely, thus making sonic weaponry an extreme threat to the shield’s operator if they are not equipped with anti-sonic defensive systems.
- Weight Class: While the Force Avenger can be mounted on virtually any host platform, its effectiveness is largely restricted to the “size class” of its host-platform. An infantry or power armor-mounted Force Avenger will be extremely effective in protecting the operator against small-arms fire and other man-portable weapon attacks, but significantly less so in defending against vehicle or fighter-grade cannons. In essence, the shield does not necessarily allow for a given unit to punch above its weight class.

Conceived in 861 ABY, the Phase III “Force Avenger” Energy Shield is an energy shield system that can be mounted on virtually all host platforms, in order to provide robust protection against conventional threats on the modern battlefield. The Force Avenger is a comprehensive system, utilizing technologies loosely derived from particle, molecular, and ray shields in concert to create a stalwart defense against incoming bolts, projectiles, and discharges which would otherwise directly strike the operator or host platform.
In addition to its purely defensive qualities, the Avenger also possesses the capability of functioning as a reactive system which can act as a powerful deterrent against enemy units. The Force Avenger’s electrical feedback mode reacts to attacks that strike the shield by converting their energy into a powerful electrical discharge that is instantaneously reflected back to the initial attack’s point of origin. This effect applies for lightsaber strikes, energy weapons, weaponized radiation, slugthrowers, vibroblades, extreme-heat based attacks, and even directed-Ion/EMP charges, albeit to a more limited extent.
All in all, the Force Avenger is a capable defensive system, and is rarely an impractical addition to any loadout or defense package.
