Badass Bookworm
(This is a recreation of the character, discarding the version I have been using so far. It hasn't worked out, and I am bringing her back in with her rightful rank of Master.)

SPECIES: Human

BIOGRAPHY: Phylis Alince was born during the last years of the Darkness on Tython. This world had escaped much of the terrible conditions of the rest of the galaxy, and had thus become a haven for refugees, most of whom had been rejected.
One family which had been allowed just over fifty years before Phylis’ birth were the Alince family, fleeing from the colony they had been on after an attack by pirates. Settling on Tython because of their skills, the family helped fix and design engines for the Jedi Order, making a profitable business from it.
Into this environment, the granddaughter of these settlers was born. She was the oldest of eventually three children; Phylis, Marius and Lilith. Growing up Phylis was a precocious child, always ahead of her classmates, though not always popular for her bossiness and know-it-all attitude.
Around the age of ten though, Phylis had the first of many incidents involving the Force, where she used it to pull her brother from a stream where he had fallen. The Jedi assessed her and found her suitable. Part of the deal for the Alince family coming to Tython was to surrender at least one Force sensitive child each generation. Phylis’ uncle had been a Jedi for a time before being killed in action as a Padawan when she was young.
As a Padawan, Phylis was not a good student. She was resentful of not seeing her family, generally bossy and extremely reluctant to use the Force at all, even when she became better at it. She was however extremely talented at the educational side of the Jedi teachings, and some of the Masters believed she might be a good researcher even if she never became a true Jedi.
All this changed though when Phylis was assigned a Master at age twelve. At that time she was taken on as a student by Jedi Knight Alexandra Dumas, a talented and somewhat eccentric Jedi who gained the trust of young Phylis and often took her on expeditions with her. With Alexandra there was none of the traditional training routines with stun droids or balancing rocks, it was all about going into the galaxy and helping beings directly. Often not even dressed as Jedi, they would venture to distant systems and intervene where they could, often without Council knowledge.
Interestingly from this Phylis developed a strong moral code picked up from her teacher, one she still maintains. From this time she also developed a love of order, stability and a desire for knowledge. When Alexandra took Phylis on her first archaeological dig the girl was instantly obsessed with it, and promised she would follow this path forever more.
Sadly it was not to last forever. At the age of 18, Phylis met a beautiful woman on Coruscant named Velania who took advantage of the somewhat naïve girl and her confusion over her sexuality, and seduced her. Phylis became besotted by the girl, and readily provided secret findings from a mission to Velania, not realising she was actually a Sith agent placed there to entrap her. When Phylis finally learned she was devastated and chased after Velania, trying to catch her before she escaped.
Unexpectedly Alexandra had gotten there first and fought Velania in a duel which ended in the Jedi’s mortal wounding. Filled with grief and anger over what she had done, Phylis defeated and killed Velania herself, then went to beg forgiveness from her dying Master.
Another Jedi Master from the Council arrived in time to hear Alexandra’s dying words. Alexandra took the blame for what had happened, saying it was her careless actions that had caused the incident and that Phylis had saved her. She then died in Phylis’ arms.
Phylis was promoted to Jedi Knight after completing the other trials, but the experience changed her. It made her more determined to never be caught again in such a position, to bring justice wherever she went, and to continue her Master’s quest for knowledge.
After many hardships Phylis was promoted to Jedi Master at the age of 27, having trained several students. She never forgot her mission though, and while her interpretation of the code is not always orthodox she has a strong sense of what is right and what is not. She is determined to uphold justice and learning wherever she can.

FORCE SENSITIVE: Yes
STRENGTHS:
- Phylis is an extremely learned individual whose knowledge extends to history, archaeology, chemistry and more. She is one of current archivist of the Jedi Order and has written a number of important works on a range of subjects.
- In addition to being brave and exceptionally moral, Phylis is highly skilled in the Force. Her main talents are defensive; using the Force to shield and absorb an enemy’s attacks and often to reflect it back at them. She is highly skilled in telekinesis, healing and Force Light.
- Though not a great duellist in the true sense of the word, Phylis is a master of Form III, able to defend herself against almost any lightsabre attacker and multiple blaster wielding enemies.
- She has the ability to remain calm and show absolution precision when needed in a crisis and can work well independently.
- While proficient in the Force, Phylis lacks in certain key areas. For one she cannot do any form of telepathy or empathic transmission. For another, she lacks the special or advanced powers in the Force such as Battle Meditation or Shatterpoint which would make her clearly distinctive.
- While being blessed by a strong moral code is often a good thing, it does have downsides. Phylis is very loathe to kill except in battle, and will often take the morally correct path even if it is harder to get results with.
- Phylis’ personal life has been rather awkward. Growing up into the Jedi Order young, she had little contact with ordinary people. Though her personal skills have greatly improved she remains awkward and reserved in regards to romance. She has a pretty good idea about who she finds attractive, but finds it hard to admit that or show it.
- Phylis lacks with weapons outside of a lightsabre and is not a combat pilot, though can fly a ship quite well on her own.
