OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
SETTING INFORMATION
  • City Name: Pirivena
  • Classification: Abandoned Metropolis/Underwater Ruins
  • Location: Chaldea
  • Affiliation: Chaldean Potentium
  • Population: Sparse
  • Demographics: Homeless people, criminals, mer LARPers, sea creatures.
  • Wealth: Poor
  • Stability: Low (Stability? What stability?)
  • Freedom & Oppression: There is no true government of Pirivena, nor is there a police force. Criminals roam rampant through the abandoned structures, preying on the vagrants who have taken up residence there. Slavers, murderers, thieves - this place has the absolute worst of the worst all wrapped up in a dystopian package of abandoned buildings and decaying skyscrapers. Meanwhile in the submerged parts of the city, a mini society has developed among the Finfolk subculture. While there are hidden (and not so hidden...) entry points between the two, there is very little interplay between the lawless dry city and the primitive but relatively stable community in the depths below.
  • Description:
    • "Even Jakku looked less dystopian than the city of Pirivena lying before his eyes. Half of it swallowed under the relentless tides of an ever-expanding maw of the ocean. Its skyscrapers reminded him of Coruscant had they been devoured by abandon. Dozens upon dozens of the high flats' upper levels had been left unfinished, bare skeletal frames of steel deserted due to a myriad of reasons that all tied into the exodus of the city's population. Invasive overgrowth, mainly due to the unnaturally infestive climate the ocean brought, wrapped around the city suffocating the life out of it. It was only a matter of time before Pirivena became merely a dreary afterimage in the fledgling memories of the elderly." - Dagon Kaze
POINTS OF INTEREST
Dry Land
  • Dozens of abandoned warehouses line the outskirts of the city, which have now become a hotbed for criminal activity, particularly smugglers and traffickers, who use them to store their "goods".
  • Atargatis Industries HQ - An abandoned skyscraper now partially swallowed up by the sea, the former company headquarters is now an entry point between dry land and the depths. The Finfolk have set up a walkway from land into the 33rd floor, where an interior staircase has been filled out and repurposed into a water slide leading into the flooded lower levels.
Underwater
  • Spectral Reef - A bit further out to sea is a coral reef with phosphorescent properties. More of a local curiosity, it is used as a source of food/hunting grounds by the Finfolk.
SECURITY
None
; if you wanna come blow it up, I guess there's nothing I can do to stop you.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Pirivena began as a coastal city, one of the largest settlements on Chaldea. The economy was built on fishing and diving, and was the home of Atargatis Industries, a company dedicated to diving and producing diving equipment. Atargatis developed a new type of diving suit known as Atargatis Skins, and began giving them to their employees. Unbeknownst to those wearing the Skins, the suits had been constructed using Sith alchemy, resulting in strange effects. Most notably, the Skins were highly addictive; wearers would feel a need to wear them with increasing frequency, until they reached a point where they rarely ever took them off. Those who became fully addicted became part of a subculture native to Pirivena; these people began calling themselves the Finfolk.

A planetwide population decrease on Chaldea, along with an increase in the frequency of hurricanes, meant that the empty metropolis was repeatedly flooded and large portions of the land became submerged. During the Chaldean Civil War in 852 ABY, the city was occupied by secularist forces. The Finfolk managed to drive them out by picking off their soldiers, often through luring them away and then drowning them. The secularists were eventually pushed out, and the city has been considered officially abandoned ever since. But don't be mistaken - this is no empty ruin for visitors to plunder. It is a dangerous, lawless zone rife with criminal activity. Even the Finfolk have attempted to bypass the remaining portions of dry land city in order to avoid the crime-stricken areas above sea level. Travel there at your own risk.
