Map Update Planet Add/Remove Thread Added, Updates Back Open

2f88d682d4e54e3be008b41ad8cdd573.png

1. We'll begin honoring updates now.
2. A new thread in the Factions forum has been added specifically for Planet additions/moves, please use this for requesting planet moves/additions now. (same templates)
3. This is the most important - if your update isn't honored, it'll get denied, and we don't need a reason to deny it. Just accept a deny and move on.
4. Not every planet needs to be moved. The map is not exactly as it was. Any attempt to articulate "this belongs here because such and such" will be met with "It's fiction" and "it's a 2D map representing a 3D galaxy, things move, you should really look up how planets and stuff move."

Some factions will have lost a few planets, some factions will have gained a few. It's Star Wars Chaos, not "Star Wars We Got It Right The First Time". However, if Mandalore is like, off in the Unknown Regions, thats a good planet to suggest we move to the Manda Sector, because it's pretty obvious most people want it there.

Does this mean I can request to have custom planets removed from the map? Planets that I subbed on my own, of course.

Once you add a custom planet to the map, you are giving over custody of that planet's creation to the community, so no we won't be honoring planet removals.

Planet additions to the map are 100% voluntary, we don't require planets created in the codex be represented on the map, to be placed on the map the creator must have consented.

Tefka Tefka I've noticed a few discrepancies with the new map and the old map with the update, mostly planets that were occupied now being neutral. Will there be any ways of going about having certain planets that already belonged to certain factions from the Classic Map being given back to the major factions that own them?

I understand that with some of the planets being moved around this throws up who occupies what planet up in the air a bit, but some planets that still border, or would border the original cloud are neutral, at least for NEO I know that Umbara, Cathar, and a handful of other planets that were from the Classic Map are neutral on the new map despite still being adjacent to the new main cloud.

i'd say off the cuff like 50%

50% of planet moves back into the clouds they were in on the classic map will be honored, so feel free to make those suggestions in the: https://www.starwarsrp.net/threads/planetary-update-thread.192759/

This thread is linked in the navigation below the Map navigation, in the Chaos header.

But the community just needs to understand, 50% won't be honored, because the map is more spread out and we're not moving everything into a tiny area just so a cloud can have them back.

Take it as an RP opportunity, to explain why your influence no longer covers that location, and an opportunity to explain gaining it back.

We've already made 40+ moves/denials, I've implemented some tools to speed up how fast we can move planets on the backend, so keep making your suggestions I'm down to look at them and see if it fits our new methodology.

Asking clarification here before making a post in the thread itself. But should a planet/hex be absent from a Major Faction's influence. (Like not moved anywhere, just not properly reflected due to changes with the new map) would on just need to post a request in the Planetary Update thread?

Like please understand, I get it, because of OOC powers, some of you possessive peoples lost things you believe belong to you, and I'm with that. Fight for it if you wanna fight for it. But also recognize that like, you can do a new dominion, gain a new hex, etc.

If your influence cloud already has one planet per hex, we're not gonna squish everything together just to give you what you want or think you're owed, that's going to be an easy deny. So, smaller majors, you're probably SOL. But check! It doesn't hurt to submit a request and it doesn't take much time to do it.

Is there a specific template we should use for requesting planets that didn't get added during the transition?I've been running some logistics on terrritory for NEO and it seems a few planets that are within our territory on the classic map are now no longer ours on the new map, but still directly adjacent to our main cloud, estimating around ~25 or so planets missing.

A few questions I also posed over DM's but I'll post it here so everyone else can get the rundown going forward.

In the case of a Junction being initiated prior to the transition and the pre-declared hexes that would be claimed after the Junction was concluded. For this example I'm just going to use RNR/NEO's junction - NEO declared Nimban for the hex that would be gained as a result of the junction, however after the map transition this puts Nimban outside of range of NEO being able to claim it now that there's an extra hex between where it was and where the cloud presently is. Is a faction allowed to redesignate the hex that is claimed as a result of that junction due to the change making it not possible to get? Also an added question in the event if we are not able to redesignate for the case of NEO, are we allowed to use Kingmaker to claim the hex between the designated target that is technically outside of claiming range; technically NEO's cloud extends out to where Trandosha is, assuming that the hexes that were missing are re-added to the main cloud, that just means that Varnak is all that we do not currently possess in order to reach Nimban, so would Kingmaker's ability to claim a free hex from conducting a junction allow us to claim Varnak, and then officially add Nimban?

Another thing I've noted with the addition of superclusters that is also a present problem and one that may affect other major factions. NEO previously owned a majority of the planets/hexes that are sitting in the Hapes Cluster, but GA owned Hapes, which has since then been shifted past a bunch of planets that were owned by NEO. That puts two seperate major factions technically having claim on the superhex, and the superhex only requires that you own at least one of the hexes in the cluster to gain all of the planets in the cluster, how would this claim issue be resolved? Or is it just whoever reclaims the cluster post transition?

Just don't want to spam the update thread if it can all be done in one preferably.

One by one just like everyone else, but im gonna be real, im not looking fondly on spam requests.

If I end up denying five or more, you’re gonna be seen as wasting our time and risk getting a thread ban from one of the more important threads on the website. Aint no way you actually need 28 planets moved.

Pick 5 and try with those and see what is said. 28 at once is stupid and unreasonable and tells me even now you’re not understanding what’s happened and what has happened.

Things have changed. Adapt, roll with it. Change has arrived. It might not be fair, it honestly probably isn’t for some people. But it’s arrived all the same, make your peace with it.

Try to claim the Nimban hex, but state the reasoning in the template of why its further away and that you’re okay with less hexes, but would prefer Nimban. Could get a free hex out of it.

Be honest, be transparent, maybe even link this response, the presiding admin of your update will make the final decision. If your junction was the bare minimum, we’ll give you a bare minimum reward.
