Planet Building

I mentioned this during my creation of the Arda Dominion.
Seeing as the blank corner of space we call home is what makes the LS unique and fun, anyone have any ideas for planet building? Or a thread on an uncharted world, which we begin creating as we show up, and make a sub out of that?

Just playing with ideas

Mhm! We're going after Arda right now, so probably don't need another tropical world.
But something Earth Like could be fun.

Make it hella diverse, and get a few sapient species on it, and stuff.

And like... some sort of cult that worships Space People

History is my schtick with this character. So if I can contribute anything there, let me know!

Also happy to help if we want to do a dev thread searching for hyperlanes or what not to uncover this place.

Alright!
So, clearly I'ma hydro-phile. And if I was born in like 1492 we'd be singing that Corey sailed the ocean blue, or whatever the line is with the song for Columbus.

So!

We have the habitat of Endor-like, all sorts of foresty and (terrifyingly) dry without a big ocean, compliments of [member="Judah Dashiell"].

Lets run off that.

Well, i'm thinking once we get Arda completed as a dominion, we will sub this planet out and then immediately toss up a Dominion so we can grab it. Any good placement for it? On top of you coming to help us RP there? :)
Also, you're staff (so this is abuse) but could we like... develop/dominion a world and THEN submit it to Codex? Is that a possibility? So its a lot more organic on the submission?

Part of my idea for the world was to have... I don't know, some like... layers of history. Like a developed planet that was kind of lost to time. I keep having Roanoke show up in my head. Kind of... ghost-town-ish?

And Sor-Jan, I've got one of three alts I can always toss you to help with the hyperlane finding, because that could be our in, and it'd be a good thread to do!

History of a totally unsettled world can be quite brief and modified later.

However, if there are any sentient species on there we (the Codex team) expect a good bit of history which tells its origins etc.

Ask and ye shall receive!

Here's some sketch thoughts off the top of my head:

[PLANET] was first discovered during the Cronese Sweeps, approximately 26,000 years ago, when astrologists, cartographers, and explorers from Chandaar (the Kingdom of Cron) sought avenues through space which might avoid further conflict with neighboring kingdoms and provide further expansion/resources. The voyage was difficult with the technology and cartographic understanding of the Outer Rim that they had for the time, rendering communication between the Kingdom of Cron and [PLANET] limited and perilous for couriers. Mention of the colony disappears from historical texts and star charts after the Battle of Chandaar, when Xim reorganized the Kingdom of Cron into the first 'galactic empire' -- after which he focused on bringing the worlds and government's of the Tion Cluster under his control.

[PLANET] would not be re-discovered again until the time of the Pius Dea Crusades, circa 10,966 BBY, when exiles from the Jedi Order sought refuge from the Galactic Republic and their former brethren. The Order of the Terrible Glare had set out from Garn in search of more habitable worlds on which they might find respite, but after initial reports of a forest paradise, communication from their colony ceased. Not to be heard from again. Fearing that the Jedi Order or Galactic Republic had found them, the Order of the Terrible Glare went silent so not to reveal themselves.

The last attempt at pursuing hyperlanes in the vicinity of [PLANET] was in 325 BBY, when Ser Jorj Monmont of the Kingdom of Barseg commissioned an exploration of the Outer Rim. Brief mention of a colony by the name of [PLANET] briefly appears in historical texts at the library of the University of Onderon, though it was missing from star charts or academic texts after 300 BBY.

As a result, [PLANET] has entered into myth among spacers -- particularly in the Outer Rim and the Unknown Regions, where it is known by the name 'The Lost Colony'. Some even refer to it as 'Lost Colony of Xim', erroneously affiliating its origins to Xim's Expansionist Era.

Ideally, this gives us any number of elements to work with. From the Order of the Terrible Glare, to the Pius Dea, to a civilization which might predate the Galactic Republic and be completely unaware of its existence.

Or proto-aboriginal-cannibal-Ewoks.

Or no civilization and just ruins of the start-up colonies from different eras.

Whatever floats your pod racer!

Proto-Aboriginal-Cannibal-Ewoks.
I am so done with this thread now ;)

Actually, I really dig that history. It makes it so we're not needing to develop a huge branch of indigenous sentient species. Can throw most stuff off to 'background species of nondescript'

I really like this history!
