Private Plans in the Making

Some people might think the hard part of planning was coming up with the plan. In Shan's eyes, the hard part was actually telling someone but that's what today was all about. He could have went straight to the Jedi Council over his idea but first he thought it would be a good idea to check the idea over with someone he trusted. And one of the people he trusted the most was Valery Noble Valery Noble .

Even as he waited for Valery, Shan was going over the plan on his datapad as the blue glow reflected in his eyes. Trying to figure out what flaws there might be in the planning, making sure to note what parts of the plan he had came up with himself and what parts other people had came up with. There was no way he was going to take credit for it all. Plus, he hoped that if he could help other people's hardwork being acknowledged and known, that it would help them further down the line. He had faith in the Order's younger members and so he wanted to help nurture their growth.

Of course, there was also the part of him that was working harder to make up for his abscence but that regret was beginning to fade. That moment on Niv Hani was what he needed to recover. Now he was ready and raring to throw himself into work without any regrets!...Well, some regrets but more like "Oh, I should have put some salt on my food" regrets. Nothing that would interfere with his work.

The soft hiss of the door announced Valery's arrival, and she stepped into the room with her usual calm confidence. Her fiery amber eyes swept over Shan, who sat absorbed in his datapad, the faint blue glow casting sharp angles across his face. She allowed herself a small smile at the sight — Shan's focus was palpable, and whatever he had summoned her for clearly meant a great deal to him.

"Shan," Valery greeted warmly, stepping further into the room. "You've been busy, I see." Her tone was light, tinged with a touch of curiosity as she gestured subtly toward the datapad.

She crossed her arms loosely, leaning slightly against the edge of the table as she studied him. "It's not every day I get a summons from you," she teased gently, though her expression softened almost immediately. "But I'm glad you reached out. Whatever this is about, you know you have my full attention."

Her gaze flicked to the datapad again before returning to his face. "So, what's the big idea? Or am I going to have to pry it out of you?" she added, her voice carrying a playful edge but backed by genuine encouragement. She could tell he'd put a great deal of thought into whatever he was working on, and she was eager to hear what had him so focused.

Shan's head snapped up over towards Valery as soon as the door opened, giving a small smile. As much as he was nervous beforehand, it was next to impossible for him to be nervous around Valery. Her and Kahlil had already done so much for him to improve his confidence. For now though, he fiddled around with the datapad before placing it on the table to project a map of the Galaxy, specifically colour-coded. Dark blue for Alliance Space, yellow for Neo Crusaders, and then a simple red for both the Dark Empire and Sith since they both fell under the same thing for his plan.

"I was trying to figure out a way to try and help out with potential attacks on the borders of Alliance Space. There's a limit to how many healers we have in the Order, so I was thinking of trying to find easier ways to help non-force sensitives be able to contribute. I feel like part of the issue is getting supplies to planets quickly. So part of my plan is to try and move supplies to planets that are closer to our borders."

With that, Shan started to point out at few planets bordering the Neo-Crusader, such as Hapes and Onderon before bringing his finger back to point at Telti a small distance away from the border.

"Take here for example. Commonly, the Neo Crusaders rely on explosives and flame related weaponry. So if they were to attack Hapes or Onderon, we could store supplies on Telti. It already has tunnels, so it'd also potentially be able to be well defended against any aerial attack. Then in case of an attack, it'll be faster and easier to get supplies to those who need it."

Okay. Time to breathe. He had already been talking for a while anyway and it was time for him to at least hear some form of feedback. There was a part of him that wasn't sure if this was really an idea for the Jedi to do as a whole, or if it was something to be brought up to the Senate as well...He hoped the Senate wasn't necessary. He hated politics.

Valery's expression softened into a warm smile as she listened to Shan's explanation, her fiery amber eyes scanning the map projected before her. She nodded thoughtfully, her gaze tracing the strategic placement of planets he'd highlighted and the logic behind his approach. It was clear he'd put significant effort into crafting the plan, and she couldn't help but feel a surge of pride in the young Jedi.

"I like it, Shan," she said, her voice carrying both warmth and approval. "You've thought this through well. Anticipating specific threats like the Neo-Crusaders' tactics and ensuring supplies are strategically placed could save countless lives."

Valery leaned slightly forward, her arms crossing as she studied him, her tone shifting to a mix of encouragement and curiosity. "Have you discussed this plan with Master Jonyna Si yet? Her focus as Council Member lines up with this quite well, so she might be able to help you."

Straightening up, Valery offered a small nod of approval. "Either way, this is good work, Shan. I think with a little more refinement, this could become an important part of how we strengthen our borders and support those who need us most."

Shan couldn't help but grin at the approval. It was a sign to him that he was actually putting his time and effort into something that seemed to be useful for the Order and the Alliance as a whole. Though he shook his head at the question about Jonyna. It wasn't something he had yet thought about.

"I wasn't sure if I should bring it up to her, or the Council as a whole. I wanted to bring it to you or Master Kahlil first because the pair of you's approval means a lot to me. Though now that you bring it up...It does seem like it would be worthwhile to just bring it up to Master Si. It would be more difficult to get the entire Council together right now I think..."
It was strange for Shan to think about. Most of his padawanship had been during a relatively peaceful time. It hadn't been hard for him to believe that the Council would easily be able to be brought together but with enemies on three different sides, Shan thought it would be a waste of time and energy to bring them all together for a plan like this.

"There was some more added to the plan, thanks to a Padawan I met however. Padawan Ben Khal was an exceptional help. He found specific planets near the Dark Empire and Sith that we could protect as well. It made me proud to see a younger member of the Order interested in the idea of protecting the Alliance this way. Though I do believe I should bring up that he wants to feel like he's important to the Order."

If Shan had more confidence in himself, he might have even considered teaching Ben to help guide the boy and help his self confidence but alas the Mirialan felt like he wasn't the right choice for the Padawan. Though he had enjoyed the moment of working with the Padawan...which gave him an idea.

"I might try the idea of hosting a lesson or lecture with the subject of aiding other planets in mind now that I think about it...It could also help me do a few more tweaks to the idea before I bring it to Master Si. After all, there are possibilities that I'd perhaps be blind to."

Valery listened closely, her fiery amber eyes steady on Shan as he spoke. His enthusiasm was infectious, and the thoughtfulness he showed in crafting and refining his ideas was something she deeply admired. She leaned back slightly, a faint but genuine smile curving her lips as she considered his words.

"You've already taken a lot of the right steps," she said, her tone calm and steady. "Definitely take this to Master Si as well. She'll help you bring the plans to life at a much larger scale, once you feel it's ready."

Valery leaned forward slightly, her voice softening. "So the lesson idea is great. Sharing what you've learned, encouraging others to think about how we protect the Alliance… It's not just about the plan itself but about getting others involved in building something meaningful together."

She offered him a small, encouraging smile, the light from the holomap reflecting faintly in her amber eyes. "You're already showing that you can lead, Shan. Trust your instincts on this and keep building on what you've started. It's good work."

Shan nodded, going silent for a moment as he contemplated to himself. It was something that he was...accustomed to doing by now. Even as the holomap's glow was reflecting across the room, his gaze was focused off to the distance as if he was imagining something. Letting his thoughts and mind wander for a few moments.

"Building something meaningful would help people come together as well and give them more of a value of importance. Plus allowing other species to take part in the planning could also lead to finding out more things that I'd have potentially missed...Might see if Master Si wants to assist with it. That way there'll be more sets of eyes to see anyone who might have a natural talent for this kind of thing..."

The Mirialan mumbled away to himself. Expressing his thoughts verbally as he carried on staring off into space. What would be the best location for the class? Back in the temple? Out on the field? Eventually however, Shan came back to reality, shaking his head as he looked over towards Valery, breaking out into a toothy grin.

"Sorry. Did I miss anything whilst I was rambling? It just feels good to be back at work trying to figure out things."

Valery chuckled softly, shaking her head as she leaned forward slightly. "No, you didn't miss anything," she said, her voice warm and teasing. "But I think I almost lost you to your thoughts for a moment there."

Her fiery amber eyes softened as she watched him, noting the energy and excitement behind his words. Shan's enthusiasm for the project was not just admirable but inspiring, and she couldn't help but feel a swell of pride. "You're thinking like a true leader," she continued. "Bringing others into the process, valuing their input, and creating something that feels inclusive — those are all the right steps to building something meaningful."

Valery paused, her smile growing as she gestured lightly to the holomap. "As for Master Si, I think she'd be thrilled to help. She has an eye for spotting talent and fostering growth. With her help, and yours, you could create something that not only strengthens the Alliance but inspires others to think beyond themselves."

With that, she leaned back slightly, crossing her arms in a relaxed manner. "So, what's your next step? The lesson, Master Si, or refining the plan even further?" Her expression was encouraging, her tone steady but filled with genuine curiosity for how he wanted to proceed.

A true leader...That hadn't been something Shan had thought about. He was content to be someone who followed. Who stood by and defended. In his eyes, a leader was someone who was meant to pave the way forward. Whereas Shan always believed that he was the person to stand his ground and protect the way for the people behind him. It was an interesting thought for him to have. Could he be a wall to protect people that also lead them? Hm...

"I think approaching Master Si with the rough idea would be for the best. That way she'll be able to figure out the best way to host the class. My plan was to collect various datapads for people to read and work as a group to focus on certain sectors of the border. She might be able to figure out a more precise plan about it all..."

Plenty of ideas were jogging around in his head. The pride from Valery pushing Shan more and more into his thoughts. He was confident that he could come up with a plan that would help bring people together. It had to be a plan that would work without him as well. He has plenty of different ideas and plans that he wanted to do solo as well...

"There's so much for me to try and do...but not enough hours in the day..."

Valery watched Shan with a warm, understanding smile, her fiery amber eyes reflecting the spark of enthusiasm she could see growing in him. She straightened slightly, resting her hands on the edge of the table as she leaned in just enough to meet his gaze more directly.

"That sounds like a great plan," she said, her voice calm but encouraging.

Her smile softened, and she tilted her head slightly as she added, "You don't have to figure everything out all at once, Shan. Great things take time, and it's okay to focus on one step at a time. You've already taken an important first step by coming up with the idea and wanting to make a difference. The rest will come together with effort and patience."

Valery leaned back again, folding her arms loosely over her chest. "And as for not enough hours in the day," she teased lightly, "Welcome to life as a Jedi. The galaxy always seems to need more of us than we can give, but that's why we have each other. Involve the right people in this project."

"People who care, just like you do."
