Intent: To create a light short-to-mid range rocket artillery weapon.
Development Thread: N/A
Manufacturer: The Primeval Fleet
Model: PLRA1-MLRS
Affiliation: The Primeval
Modularity: Somewhat. Although you can't modify the launcher itself, it can be attached to other vehicles, hauled by infantry, or pulled along by light vehicles.
Production: Mass-production
Material: Durasteel, Standard bits and pieces
Classification: Rocket Artillery
Size: Stationary; vehicle-mounted
Length: 1.3 meters
Weight: 150kg
Ammunition Type: HE Rockets, Smoke Rockets, Napalm Rockets
Ammunition Capacity: 18 rockets
Effective Range: 2-8km
Rate of Fire: automatic (fires each rocket in succession)
Special Features:
- Lite Automation: The weapon can be programmed to rotate in a radius as it fires.
- Magnetic feet: It can be attached to any metal surface with ease using magnetic feet; allowing it to be attached to vehicles given enough surface area.
- Remote control: Each one comes with a short-range remote on a unique frequency for firing the weapon.
The PLRA1 is equally great for being mounted on vehicles since it can be controlled remotely and if you want to spread the fire a bit more than it does already you can use a small control panel on the back to program in a firing radius. In short; this is one dumb yet effective weapon of war for supporting your push or preventing your enemies.
Strengths:
Bulk Order: It's not that hard to drag these around making it a common sight in The Primeval's armed forces.
Diversity: Firing up to three types of ammunition makes sure the PLRA1 is effective in a multitude of situations.
Reloaded: This isn't a fire-and-forget weapon. Due to its relatively small size, reloading can be done easily by hand. It just requires a nearby ammo dump.
Weaknesses:
Super Simple: Like most tech in The Primeval there's nothing truly remarkable about this that gives it an edge over similar technology.
No defenses: Besides the troops behind--or in front--there's nothing stopping an explosive device from taking this out. Or you could just walk up and tip it over, too.
Manpower: Although it can be operated remotely, it requires personnel on hand to operate and reload the weapon.
