Politics...Yep, I Said It (ATTN: All!)

As it stands, the Confederacy has the following political affiliations:
  • The Galactic Republic: Neutral Agreement Pact w/Trade. (Friendly)
  • The Fringe Confederation: Neutral Agreement Pact w/Trade
  • The Mandalorians: Neutral Agreement Pact w/Trade
  • The Omega Protectorate: Neutral Agreement Pact
  • The Moross Crusade: Neutral Agreement Pact. (Friendly)
  • The Black Sun Syndicate: None (Unfriendly)
  • The Horde: None (Hostile)
Suffice it to say, politically, we are the equivalent of Switzerland right now. However, with the map ever changing and the eventuality of a site-wide war on the horizon, I thought it best to open the floor to suggestions. We're neutral with practically everyone, but do you guys want to change that? Should we seek bonafide alliances/mutual defense with anyone? Should we hit someone with a shovel and start a brawl? Or should we keep to ourselves?

So, let's hear it ladies and gentlemen!

Corey's OOC

And where were the spiders
I'm a big fan of the neutrality. Plus trade. I think we keep it that way. Work on raising our soldiers as a protection unit, at leas the NPCs and Droid designs, but maybe make the Ragnells and marine units as an expeditionary force... just in case? Plus that'll give CIS military writers something to do, when war breaks out, or in case we /need/ to retaliate.

Darth Vulcanus

Better than other-other space Kaiden
I think it is always good to have that one guy you can turn to when poodoo hits the engine cooling turbine. I think it is best to get an alliance with at least one other faction and that way you have someone to turn to if someone decides to kick your door in.

The only thing about being neutral that I see being a problem is that when a site wide war does happen. We have been all nicey nicey with everyone so who will have our back?

It might be good to have a strong alliance with someone. Like Fringe?

Previously a question was raised concerning having multiple defense pacts. If we do mutual defense, our obligation is to defend. If two mutual defense allies attack one another, we're obligated to aid the defender, not the attacker. Still, we need to consider a larger question: Which factions actually are likely to cooperate with us?

This in summary. Totally agree.

I say start poking at things, turning units to black ops, denying initial involvement as you test the waters.

Though I will say RRDI gets its Pontite from Aurum so Aurum is pretty much a no-fly zone for us.

No, then everyone attacks us.

Just as a quick question, how many people came from other factions? If they were trusted, then maybe those could be emissaries for us.

I can do that.....

Hit the Horde with a shovel
Politically probably not the best move at the moment, but by God it's tempting.

But yes. Switzerland is good right now, just please give the military something to do. :)

We should at least get Free Trade Agreements with everyone. Perhaps we can bring the Black Sun around with some good old-fashioned Merchant Princing #asimov #yoloswag Remember, people who trade with one another are less likely to go to war with one another, and although that matters less here than it would, say, the real world, it would give us a good PR bludgeon if anyone decides to screw with us. Costing jobs, lives, etc. etc.

I'd be willing to help with talks if anyone else thinks it's a good idea.

I like neutrality, but at the same time we need allies we can trust if shit hits the fan.

I would NAP/MDP (mutual defense) the Horde if the CIS would only not be hostile for the time being, so long as there's a galactic war in the future and we can raze stuff. Doesn't matter who or what it is, as long as planets burn. :3

*alt is new Horde FO btw*

Don't trust anyone who isn't a Bothan!
Wait......

In all seriousness, I think we need to start talking to the Republic and the Mandalorian Empire (Or United Mandalorian Clans, it think they're going by now). If we have both of them peaceful, we need not worry about the others, as far as I'm aware.
