POLL Senator activity/inactivity

there has been a suggestion to change the policy/rule regarding active/inactive senators.

the current lay is found on the roster post but I copied it here for your convenience.
Read #3 (highlighted in green).

1. Anyone who is a member of the Galactic Republic faction can apply as senator as long as there are planets to represent. It is adviced that your character is a sensible contributor to the political arena and that her characters general agenda reflects the people of your chosen planet within reason.

2. You can pick any planet within the Republic cloud or a neutral planet to represent as long as it makes IC sense it is represented in the Republic Senate. This will be very much up to your own common sense. Planets in other major faction clouds may not be represented in the Republic senate.

3. Should a senator go inactive for over a month without giving faction staff a reason for LOA, another writer may request that planet. The inactive senator will be considered called home and replaced.

The suggestion moves toward instead of #3 having regular roll calls and remove those that don't answer the calls within a certain time frame (most likely a week).

Take your time and consider this and/or discuss it in this thread.

I am tagging those in the senator roster since I figured you guys are most likely to be affected the most but anyone in the faction is welcome to chim in and cast a vote.

ehh roll calls get boring after a time and generally senator characters don't argue over planets. Doesn't mean it won't happen but monthly roll calls are not needed. every other month could be fine or every three months.

I agree with Ayumi. I think regular roll calls are a good idea to make sure characters are active, but think a check in every other month is sufficient.

I'd suggest every other month as well. Flowers are indeed nice.

How about a quarterly check in?

Even then I simply chalk up who ever is inactive to be back at their home constituency dealing with domestic affairs.
If they fail to say I'm here at the quarterly check in then you simply identify that the planet has an inactive senator and thus is open to IC recall and replacing.

I don't really care tbh. I just want to focus on government RP.

We ought to be thinking more about stories we can craft with our government characters rather than OOC administrative stuff. Like I'd love to see more in depth rp than just back and forth debates in Senate meetings. Let's craft a real IC government.
