Positions within the Navy

How are positions decided? At present, who decides them? What are they? What do we need?

This is a new character, and one that I intend to play explicitly as a Naval officer. What this means is: I need to know where I stand as far as rank. This will determine how I RP things, where I RP at, what ship I'm on, etc.

So, someone with the authority around here, where do we go from here? Perhaps we need a thread specifically dedicated to ranks and promotions. Might be useful. Easy that way, as new people can post to request their assignment and only one thread need be checked.

If you're willing to do a dev thread with me that can be your introduction. I want to make a long range hypervelocity cannon, but I need a dev thread for it.

If you already know how to fleet I'd not be adverse to starting you off as a Captain. if you'd rather learn a bit under me first we can start you off as a Lieutenant on my flagship and then promote you once you're happy. Your choice.

I've been fleeting basically since 2001 when fleeting was huge over at that guy's place. Then at TRF. I knows mah stuffs.

I too am in a similar boat to NC'thor, wanting to start a naval officer type for the Galactic Republic. I too have fleeted, both at NIF, and like Nc'thor, also at TRF.

If you don't mind me asking Nc'thor, who were you at TRF? By the way you referenced the "math" part of it, it sounds like you were active before I was over there (the math faction thing has died down there over the latter years).
