Pre-Factory WIP- Starsailer Personal Freighter

Hey, new character here, and Aeshi is super tied to her ship, because she's a frontier person, looking to push forward for exploration, but also works as a merchant to fund her trips, chartered through the Nubia trade company. So I've spent the day looking through upgrades and assembled them. I'll list them all in here later this weekend, but the goal is to increase the hyperdrive, navigation, and sensor capabilities of the ship to make it more functional for long-term surveying and exploration. All without sacrificing too much cargo space because she does need to haul goods, both legitimate and illegitimate in order to maintain her charter that can then function as her base of operations, in conjunction with GUIDE and whomever else.

Maneuverability Rating: 6
Speed Rating: 5
Hyperdrive Class: Class 2

Strengths:

  • Modularity - An MXC-1150, more so than most Corellian freighters, is endlessly modular and readily accepts just about any modification on the market, CEC made or not.
Weaknesses:
  • Civilian Design - The MXC-1150 Light Freighter is designed for civilian use, and as such fares poorly in military engagements

Description: In the aftermath of Corellia's destruction, the company was briefly paralyzed in uncertainty. After moving their headquarters temporarily to Fondor, plans were immediately drafted to design and release products that were cheap, well-received, and easy to manufacture. The Druckenwell shipyards only had production space to accommodate existing military contracts, so the company went back to its roots and designed a new freighter for the market.

With four hundred metric tons of cargo space, the MXC-1150 is designed with the utmost care in modularity. Moreso than other Corellian designs, the MXC-1150 readily accepts just about any modular or system upgrade. Easy-to-remove panels provide access to key systems and care was taken to ensure that all systems were easily taken out or put in. Cables had detachable end points to further facilitate system upgrades, allowing proprietary connectors to be placed and used with non-CEC systems. The power plant produces far more power than it needs for its current configuration, future-proofing for the inclusion of more power-hungry systems such as military-grade sensors, engines, deflector shields, or weapons.

  • Communications Array
  • Escape Pods
  • Holonet Transceiver
  • Civilian-grade Deflector Shield Generator
  • Standard Life Support Systems
  • Standard Navigational Systems
  • Standard Sensory Array
  • Standard Targeting System
  • Tractor Beams (x2)

Alright, so in order to convert this to the current template, here's the current template so I can work on cross-referencing. Although I am super confused right now about where this light freighter would fall into, since lengthwise it's more of a starfighter, but size wise is more of a corvette. Anyone have suggestions on that?

Military Grade Deflector Shield

Hangar: N/A

Special Features:

Maneuverability Rating: 5

Speed Rating: 4

Hyperdrive Class: 0.8

Strengths:
-Eyes in the Sky: The ship has upgraded sensors with a range of 500,000 km, used both for scouting new systems and keeping an eye on other starships, preferably well before they see her.
-Fast Traveler: By combining the Mark IV and Zephyr hyperdrive, Aeshi has given the ship impressive hyperdrive capabilities, with much faster than normal speeds and the ability to adjust course without reverting to realspace, as well as capabilities of quickly finding her location in uncharted space.
-Dubious Cargo: While not as dedicated of a smuggler ship as others, it has capabilities for smuggling, including a cap-drain to prevent a few ion shots, and a tractor shroud to evade tractor beams.
-Survival: With the upgraded deflector shield, Aeshi has made the ship more durable for engagements with the law, pirates, or unknown hostiles in the frontier.
-Hyperwave Comm: With intentions to talk either with potential clients across the galaxy, or with GUIDE from unmapped regions, she upgraded the communications array to a hyperwave comm, giving her the ability to send messages through hyperspace for long-range communications.
Weaknesses:
-It's still a freighter: While she has upgraded the engines for more speed and marginally better maneuverability, it's still a freighter and can't pull crazy stunts or dog-fighting maneuvers.
-Non-combatant: While the ship is armed, Aeshi left the weapons as-is from when she purchased the ship. It means she has very little offensive capabilities in responding to threats, with running away as the better option.

Description:
After Aeshi's rescue from the Rogue Sith prison during the Omega War, Roth convinced her to return to Susefvi, at least for a time, so that the rest of the family would know she was still alive. She did so, but found herself isolated from the rest of the rather wealthy and successful Tillian family after her growing up in the slums of Coruscant and smuggling through the Outer Rim. So, with some help from her family and her earlier connections, she landed a position as a starnaut with GUIDE and a trade charter from the Nubian Chartered Merchants Council, and then purchased and upgraded a ship to manage that more effectively.

Starting with improvements in mind, she purchased a second-hand MCX-1150 freighter, and set about tinkering. The first thing to be upgraded was the sensor array, with an old ANq system she purchased from Lucerne Labs along with their Zephyr class hyperdrive. That increased her sensor capacity to 500, 000 km and hyperdrive rating to 0.8. Much faster than most freighters, helping with the fact that her trade outpost was on the frontier end of the Hydian Way. With the sensors, she can also see pirates long before they see her for the most part and with the hyperdrive, she can bypass interdiction fields. More useful in her mind was the effects they would have on her surveying missions. Such a long range scanner would let her observe and chart new systems from a long ways off without having to fly into potentially hazardous situations. Or to see pirates, customs, and other ships long before they might see her.

Given the sometimes rather delicate nature of her business, she also added some defensive measures. Not weapons, as those were too obvious and attracted too much attention. But she installed a cap drain model to handle disabling measures long enough for her to escape into hyperspace. Additionally, she also added on a tractor shroud to prevent any opponents from trapping her. They took a fairly sizable chunk of her cargo space, but with such a large ship, it was still sizable enough to work with. She also added smuggling compartments- several below the main hold and scattered through other parts of the ship.

She also installed a hyperspace comm to communicate with GUIDE and added encrypted channels and beacons tied directly to the Beacon of Broadcast. With reactor energy still left to spare, Aeshi also went ahead and upgraded the engines for more speed and maneuverability, while boosting the deflector shield to a military grade. It took some more of her cargo space, but she considered it a worthy trade-off.

Starting with 400 metric tons cargo capacity, that took the ship down to 350 metric tons. She left most of that open for cargo and supplies, especially for long trips. The small living chamber she left mostly alone, not seeing a need to change it any. She did upgrade the captain's chair, seeing a good chair as worth its weight in phrik.

She left the rest of the capabilities open to further modifications as needs arose.

Intent: To flesh out and establish Aeshi's personal starship, designed for a mix of freight hauling, smuggling on the side, and her beginning forays into exploring uncharted spaces.
Who Can Use This: Aeshi Tillian and compatriots

It is under 50m so it should have the same size, maneuverability as a gunship, use corvette template but up the normal speed and such, probably around a base 5 to 6 I think. If you trick it out with any after marker lower according. Also having 10 to 20 posts of dev will help also if you want to make it BA and drop both further.

For ref speed 1 is a wing
Speed 2 is an X wing
Speed 3 is a Y wing
Speed 4 is a gunship
Speed 5 to 6 is where most light freighters fall

Okay, cool. Thanks, that makes a lot more sense now. And yeah, tricking it out with a lot of after-market upgrades primarily hyperdrive and sensors, but looking at boosting shields and sublight speed as well. Just haven't found any components to do that with yet.

Do we know where the Falcon falls on the speed chart? I can't remember seeing it anywhere.
