All Standard Features of a Droid Fighter
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
Dual Droid Brains: The Predator droid is technically two droids, one who controls the flying and four main laser canons and another which controls the grasping arms and rotating turret. This allows for focus firing from all canons and the turret or simultaneous flying, firing, and tearing action. It also serves an extra purpose of should one of the brains be hacked the other can lock it out and take over all functions although one brain controlling the whole ship would be inefficient.
STRENGTHS
Rip and Tear: The Predator is a unique ship design as it actually has melee weapons that can make their way through shielding and tear through most standard armor, effectively acting like a hawk hunting finches or if it attacks a much larger vessel, tearing into the flesh of a bull.
Workload: Predator's serve a the dual purpose of carrying equipment crates, drop pods or anything else that needs to be hauled.
Air to Ground Support: Capable of hovering above the ground using its two 'wings' with built in thrusters, the Predator can hover above a battlefield and reign down hell on enemy formations.
Slayer of Fighters: Speed, agility, and defense all paired with the tearing claws has led the Predator to be uniquely situated as a powerful anti-fighter craft.
WEAKNESSES
Expensive: Each Predator Droid is rather expensive and replacement parts are difficult to manufacture.
Carrier Dependent: Predator Droids have abysmal hyperdrives and are solely dependent on carriers for any sort of reasonable travel.
Hackable: Unlike a regular fighter, a droid is hackable and can be turned on their former masters.
Dual Modes: The Predator has two modes, the 'Fighter' Mode that allows for agility, speed, and the ability to outmaneuver as fast or faster ships and Hunter-Killer that frees up the tearing arms, and allows it to hover but at the cost of speed and accuracy with its ranged weapons. This necessity means that not all of the gear of the Predator can be used at once.
DESCRIPTION
The Iron Legion needed a fighter, something powerful that could provide air support and be incredibly efficient at taking out the enemy's air support. Thus the first concepts for the Predator were born. Predator-A01 through Predator-A11 were prototypes, mostly ineffective attempts at a manned craft. The Alpha Stage as it was called almost scrapped the project as it seemed like two or even three individuals would be needed to run one ship and the Iron Legion could not spare the manpower. Beta Stage started with the mechanics of the Legion using droid brains, first just one but then two to perfect the design. Predator-B01 to Predator B03 designs were faulty, janky, the brains sometimes even fighting over control of different systems. Years of slow careful design slowly led to the breakthrough of the modern Predator-C01 using unique Iron Legion droid brains rather than cheap imports led to a working model that has since proven crucial in many wars and skirmishes across the galaxy.
