SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Lightsaber Resistance - The plates have an extremely high resistance to lightsabers, allowing the wearer to confidently engage the vaunted wielders of the legendary weapons with a reliable degree of protection.
  • Distorted Presence - Due to a shadowskin-reflec outer coating, the plates offer a limited degree of stealth. In addition, the Phase Masque works to help distort Niki’s visual profile, making it extremely difficult for any would-be assassins to draw a bead on her. Finally, the Taozin skin integrated into the plates has the capability to render Niki’s presence almost invisible in the Force, potentially hindering the effectiveness of battle precognition, danger sense, and/or similar abilities if harnessed against the wearer.
  • Kinetic Force - The plates are highly resistant to kinetic weapons, the likes of vibroblades, slugthrowers, and mass drivers, with only truly powerful weapons being capable of penetrating the armor. In addition, the incorporated waterweave better allows the wearer to resist kinetic force, preventing Niki from suffering internal injuries from hits that fail to penetrate.
  • Fit for a Dubstep Concert - The plates offer a robust degree of protection against sonic weapons, due to a sonic dampening overlay and sonic neutralization systems integrated into the neck piece.
  • Eyes in the Back - The electronics and sensor systems within the neck piece communicate directly with Niki’s cybernetics and neural interfaces, giving her a direct link to their data and correspondingly, affording her a nigh-omniscient view of her surroundings. To say the least, this makes her awareness and reaction time nigh-unparalled, to the point where it can easily be confused for precognition. With the right technology and acclimatization, Niki could interface with the sensors inside the neck piece as if they were her own eyes or ears.
WEAKNESSES
  • Bone Chill - The plates’ performance in defending the wearer from weaponized cold leaves much to be desired. While their protection is better than nothing, the wearer is better off depending on an external system to defend against this class of weapon. However, their construction is sufficient to withstand arctic environments the likes of Hoth and Ilum, owing to the fact that the cold in these biomes is significantly less concentrated than that of the conditions generated by CryoBan weaponry.
  • Neck Piece - In addition to serving as additional protection, the neck piece also houses sensitive electronics and support systems. While resilient, damage to this part could compromise these functions, leaving Niki deprived of sensors and other utility functions.
  • Mechanical Mutation - Practitioners of Mechu-deru and other technology-corrupting arts can quite feasibly disable, corrupt, and/or manipulate many of the plates’ integrated electronics, most notably the Dream Sight, provided that they have a direct line of sight. A skilled wielder of such arts could easily compromise the suit’s technological features.
  • Crunch - While rare, gravity weapons and tractor beams—the likes of Force Crush, tensor rifles, and other forms of weaponized gravity—have the potential to deal great damage to the plates and their wearer.
  • Gaps in Protection - Typically layered over clothing or a bodysuit, the plates are by no means a full suit of armor. As such they leave large portions of the wearer’s body unprotected, including virtually all of her legs, parts of her arms, and a small part of her torso. It goes without saying that a skilled opponent could exploit these.
DESCRIPTION
As a personalized gift from Chora Asichi to Niki Priddy Niki Priddy to safeguard a close business partner from harm, the Priddy Plates were designed by Chora’s teams at First United Astral Engineering, utilizing technologies from other projects they had worked on to offer Niki Priddy the most advanced, yet convenient protection possible. Under these conditions, the plates are not a full suit of armor (Chora did offer Niki free Apsara and Kinnara armors), since they are designed to be practical and presentable. As such, they leave large portions of Niki’s body unprotected. Nevertheless, in their purpose of protecting Niki’s vital organs, they are intended to do that quite well.

In typical First United Astral Engineering fashion, the plates incorporate a host of utility technologies, including stealth systems, sensors, an infiltration suite, and yet more.

All in all, while Chora hopes that Niki will never need these plates, she is confident in the protection they might offer her in the event that she does.
