OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: United Trade Authority
  • Affiliation: Diarchy
  • Market Status: Closed-Market
  • Model: Version 1
  • Modularity: Magazine and bolts only. Can swap to "shock rounds" for stuns instead. Not otherwise modular.
  • Production: Mass-Produced
  • Materials: Reinforced durasteel; aluminum iron alloy; heavy Wookie Bowcaster bolts.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Custom Heavy Repeating Wookie Bowcaster
  • Size: Average
  • Weight: Heavy
  • Ammunition Type: Wookie Bowcaster Bolts
  • Ammunition Capacity: Low. The Pride of Kashyyk is an amazing weapon, but it frequently runs out of ammunition and needs a reload.
  • Effective Range: Average Range
  • Rate of Fire: Very High
  • Damage Output: High
  • Recoil: Very High (Without Shoulder Mount) - High (With Shoulder Mount)
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Semi-Auto and Burst Fire: The POK Bowcaster can fire in both full-auto and semi-automatic modes.
  • Full-Auto Bolt Volley Capability: The POK casts up to seven bolt projectiles in an arc against the enemy.
  • Shock or Tranq Dart Modularity: Standard-issue bolts can be replaced with shock pellet rounds. Aim for the heart or neck, give them a zap, and watch them drift into unconsciousness.
STRENGTHS
  • High Stopping Power at Medium Range: The POK Bowcaster can be effective towards a wide variety of troops and shock troops at medium range because the rounds may also cause kinetic impact. Vehicles could also receive puncture damage from the volley shot function.
  • Improvised Club Weapon: The POK is built with Wookies in mind, and so the weapon can also be used as an improvised two-handed club.
  • Shock and Tranq Darts: The rounds can be switched to less-than-lethal shock pellets which have a chance of paralyzing medium enemies.
  • Optional Stand Attachment: The POK can be set up against a stand, so that it will operate like a mounted turret.
WEAKNESSES
  • Heavy for a Bowcaster: The POK weighs a lot more than typical Wookie Bowcasters because of the extended mag and the punch it possesses. People without proper athletic training will need to carry the POK using a sling AND a shoulder grip attachment.
  • Extremely Inaccurate at Short Range: The POK bolts are meant to penetrate at a distance, not up close. The bolts are not only inaccurate at close range, but they are prone to ricochets that can cause unwanted damage. The bolts can also explode at short range, hurting you.
  • Overt Weapon: This weapon cannot be concealed, or even put into a case. Its overt presence can cause a problem when discretion is desired. The only way to store away this weapon is to take it apart and to place it into a military box. It then must be put together again.
  • Expensive and Rare Ammunition: POK bowcaster bolt rounds are quite uncommon, and they are expensive to acquire/make.
  • Unwieldy Melee Weapon: Getting trapped up-close with the POK could be a death sentence. Although it was designed to be used as a two-handed club, it was designed for Wookies to use it as a club, not humans or other beings of lesser strength.
  • Overloads in FA:V Mode: Shooting the weapon in "full-auto volley" mode for a long time causes it to overheat and then overload.
DESCRIPTION

The Pride of Kashyyyk Heavy-Repeating Bowcaster ("POK Bowcaster") was developed by the United Industrial division of the UTA as a security response to piracy threats and other threats across the galaxy, including on Dantooine's own planet. The moment that UTA heard that the Wookies on Kashyyk were in trouble, they sent an envoy which included Ova Ziss to present the POK to the Wookies. The weapon was so named because it was created in consultation with Mandalorian Veterans in Dantooine, who once fought on Kashyyyk. These hunters happen to be Ova Ziss's friends. An attempted introduction of the bowcaster to the Wookie tribes on Kashyyk was not successful. This was not because the weapon was poorly manufactured: the Wookies themselves rejected the killing potential of the POK, seeing it as a potent and devastating "symbol of war". Despite the name of the weapon being the "Pride" of Kashyyyk", and having a stun function, real Wookies are reluctant to use this weapon against other Wookies. The fully-automatic POK is a devastating weapon used by the planetary security forces on Dantooine against extreme threats, such as planetary terrorism. The POK is cultivating a reputation in the Tingel Arm system as a peacemaker and right-maker, finding itself in the hands of individuals, companies, and even armies.

Ova Ziss Ova Ziss Hi, I'll be reviewing this.

So, couple things.
Effective Range: Average to Long Range
I'd ask you pick one or the other here. Effective range is meant to be the maximum range it's effective by default, not it's overall effective range.
  • Unbelievable Stopping Power at Mid-Long Ranges: Troopers, and even heavy troopers, don't stand a chance against the POK Bowcaster at-range. Vehicles also receive a lot of damage from the volley shot function.
  • Devastating Full-Auto: The POK rips infantry troops to shreds, and a small group of POK Bowcaster infantry could bring down a fighter ship.
While I enjoy the flavorful language here, I do ask you edit this to be less absolute. As per the rules, no one can call shots on opponents, and this could be interpreted as dipping into that territory.
Shock and Tranq Darts: Can fire non-lethal shock pellets which have a chance of paralyzing small and medium enemies (but not Wookies!)
Why not wookies? Are there any other exceptions? I believe this was meant as a joke, but these things need to be explained if you include them.

Please respond when you've made your edits.

Thanks for your response. I've edited and fixed up the OP.

Regarding the range issue, I will leave the range at "Average".

Regarding the flavorful language, I changed it up so that the entry is less absolute and more descriptive about the POK's functionality.

And yes, it was meant to be a joke that the POK can't stun Wookies. I meant more that, RPly, Wookies are reluctant to use this weapon on other Wookies. I added this to the description up to make this more expressly clear: "Despite the name being the "Pride" of Kashyyyk" and having a stun function, real Wookies are reluctant to use this weapon against other Wookies."
