DESCRIPTION |
The Gozanti-class Cruiser has been a staple vessel in a myriad of organization's fleets - both Civilian and Military - since its original introduction sometime prior to the start of the Clone Wars. Throughout both the Clone Wars and the succeeding Galactic Civil War, the Gozanti-class Cruiser served the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Black Sun Syndicate, Galactic Empire, and even the Rebel Alliance - providing a well rounded and stable starship that has stood the test of time. Now, at the far end of Galaxy, many years after its first introduction, a new breed of Gozanti-class Cruiser is being introduced to the Galaxy. Larger than its predecessors - and thus establishing it firmly in its proper classification as a Light Cruiser - the Gozanti-class is a vessel designed to fill a similar role. Purposely designed with a lack of speed and maneuverability - to prevent its utilization by Pirate Factions in the event of a vessel's capture - the Gozanti-class can serve in similar roles as a Freighter, Patrol Vessel, Assault Carrier, or Rescue Vessel. The primary drawback of this design, however, as mentioned, is its lack of maneuverability and speed - often causing it to rely on additional support craft or its own Starfighter complement to handle fast-moving targets such as Starfighters, Corvettes, and Fast Attack Frigates. However, it is well equipped to disable enemy vessels - utilizing a series of Heavy Ion Cannon Turrets and Heavy Tractor Beam Projectors to disable and hold vessels in place so its own contingent of Security Personnel - or ferried military forces - can secure the opposing vessel internally. Though it maintains an extensive internal hangar bay to house multiple Squadrons - it still retains design elements from previous iterations, specifically the exterior mounting and docking clamps that were seen on the Imperial Gozanti-class Cruiser. These components can be utilized to rapidly deploy one of its Starfighter Squadrons into an engagement - or - can be refitted to carry and deploy ground-side vehicles and forces. However, this leaves any such vehicle that is mounted on these exterior clamps vulnerable - and in the event that the clamps and adjoining docking tubes are damaged, it would prevent pilots or crews from entering their mounted vehicles, greatly reducing the vessel's effectiveness. Even with this drawback, the Gozanti-class maintains somewhat flexible modularity in its internal design, allowing it to be rapidly refitted in a matter of hours to act as an Assault Carrier and ferry ground forces to planetside engagements - either by dropping them at the front of a battlefield or to secure positions prior to an enemy force's arrival. With the new design being much larger than its predecessor iterations and variants - the Gozanti-class is not intended to fully replace or displace those vessels and their time-tested designs. Rather, this larger variant is fully intended to supplement those smaller Gozanti designs and work in tandem with the aging vessels to provide additional support that their smaller cousins are otherwise incapable of providing for larger fleet formations. All in all, as a successor to the Gozanti line, the Gozanti-class Cruiser has great potential to fill in the role of a proper Cruiser and work side-by-side with other Gozanti iterations to provide a well ground support net for an established fleet. |
