STRENGTHS
- Dedicated Carrier.
- Long Reach. Though lightly armed, the Spectre's ranging sensor suit and long-range turbolasers supplied the ship with an effective targeting range beyond that of most ships.
- Limited Field of Fire. In order to keep the starfighter compliment out of the ship's field of fire, enabling launch and recovery operations throughout combat, the ship's turbolasers were focused on broadside engagements. The ship had no effective field of fire directly forward and limited field of fire directly astern.
- Lightly Shielded. The Spectre lacks staying power for an assault ship, relying more on hull armor than on its deflector shielding.
- Unique Electromagnetic Signature. Corellia Defense vessels use a unique Hoersch-Kessel ion drive design for their main propulsion. The resulting engine wash is faintly radioactive. This electromagnetic signature was distinguishable from background cosmic radiation and allowed the vessels to be tracked or detected.
The Spectre-class was another Corellia Defense project that began as a clandestine order for the Agents of Chaos. Fielded by the freedom fighters in the latter part of the 850s ABY, the pocket carrier entered the company's official catalog in 864 ABY. The final design was completed using feedback gathered from Agents use in campaigns across the galaxy.
Functionally, the Spectre is a dedicated carrier. The small size enables the light carrier to pass undetected in most situations, enabling it to drop in outside the range of enemy forces in order to deploy its starfighters. In an ideal engagement, the Spectre provides at-range or standoff support with long-range turbolaser broadside batteries from behind a line of Ghost-class starfighters or Wraith-class assault ships.
The interior of the Spectre was well-appointed, having originally been the makeshift capital ship of the Agents of Chaos. It is constructed in the Corellian System.
