Strengths:
~ the battle cruiser packs more punch then the majority of vessels in the same weight class. Designed for war, the ship bristles with enough weaponry to be a hazard for even a super star destroyer
~ because the ship was designed for a slug fest, it's defensive capabilities also out shines other battle cruisers
~ with it's wife range of offensive and defensive capabilities, many of it's weaponry are multi purpose allowing it to use it's emplacements for dual roles
~ because of the unique design of nancelles it allows placement of offensive/defensive artillery/weaponry for a wider range of fire
Weaknesses:
~ the massive size of the ship combined with focus being on armament and defense and the battle cruiser is slow and lacks mobility, even for a ship it's size
~ if the reactor core is breached there isn't massive damage caused. Because of the hypermatter reactor the ship will realistically vaporise from the blast in effect killing the majority of the crew and the ship as a whole
~ because of the use of the particle accelerator, if damaged from structural attack, the particle cannons will be automatically taken offline
~ due to the linear rails of the hypervelocity gun the bow of the cruiser must be pointed directly at it's intended target
~ in order for the projectiles from the hypervelocity gun to escape, the particle shields around the turret at the bow of the ship must drop leaving it vulnerable if hit at the right moment
Description:
Seeking for the United Siskeen Coalition to become even more self reliant lead Viceroy Derek Dib to approach his brother, Muad Dib owner of Aegis Corporation, for a mutually beneficial prospect.
To create a line of starfighters, bombers, gunships, interceptors, destroyers, and battle cruisers that would be a joint endeavor between the USC and Aegis. Using the natural resources of the Siskeen System as well as utlizing the treasury of the USC and the coffers of Aegis, the brothers were able to finance the new endeavor.
The first choice of project was to be the battle cruiser designated the Prometheus Mark I. The decision to make the cruiser a warship was the next decision.
Quickly schematics were drawn up and the combined forces of the brothers began work. Opting out of weaponry that would be considered to be pacifying, each of it's many systems were chosen for lethality. Knowing that they could recoup their investment by purchasing their starships in house lead as well as the fact that there was a ready market in the Confederacy, where the Siskeen System resided, no expense was spared for the creation of the Prometheus.
