Orvek Drayde was born and raised on an Imperial fortress-world where indoctrination began before language. His parents were low-tier Imperial loyalists—servants of the old Remnant hierarchy—and Orvek was molded from the beginning to serve the Empire without question. He enlisted in the Army as soon as age and rank allowed, quickly rising through the ranks not by charisma or brilliance, but by ruthless discipline and a complete absence of fear. His unit once described him as "the kind of soldier who walks toward the gunfire before asking where it came from." That reputation drew the eyes of Special Forces.
Hand-selected for the Purge Troopers, Orvek was subjected to extreme neural conditioning, combative reprogramming, and grueling isolation trials. The Risen Empire didn't want another soldier—they wanted a hunter, a warden, an executioner. Drayde passed every test and exceeded expectations. Upon receiving the designation PT-45, he earned the codename "Cowl," a reference to his unnerving silence and the dark cloak he adopted during cold-world deployments. As a solo operative, Cowl became a walking myth: the man who cleared heretic enclaves alone, who infiltrated rogue Jedi hideouts and emerged days later with only ashes and silence left behind. Promotions followed, but Cowl remained in the field, refusing command and choosing duty over prestige.
Now in his mid-forties, Sergeant Major Drayde is one of the longest-serving Purge Troopers still operating in active field assignments. While others retired to command posts or were lost to attrition, Cowl endured. Rumors swirl among Imperial troops that he is more machine than man—that his armor hasn't come off in years, that he speaks only when delivering judgment. He rarely interacts with others beyond mission briefings, and even then, he prefers written confirmation. Yet behind the helmet, something stirs. Some say he hesitates more than he used to. Others claim he watches civilians a little too long before moving on. Whether these are cracks in his programming or simply the wear of decades spent hunting the Empire's enemies, no one dares ask. They simply clear the corridor when PT-45 walks by—and hope they're not his next assignment.
