Public Service Announcement in Regards to Invasions

So I thought that for those who are going to be taking part in the two invasions slated to begin shortly, especially for first time participants, I'd offer some advice I've found helpful. I encourage others to comment on what they think is a good way to keep invasions fun and not as stressful as they can be.

  1. Constant communication with your opponents. I've found that it's always a good idea, especially in a PvP environment, to keep a running PM with your opponents. It lets one talk through any issues and determine what both sides consider a fair hit and compromise or even just a good way to make a new writing partner.
  2. Don't go above your own skill level. Not to say that it's not an epic idea of a Padawan taking down a Sith Lord, but 9/10 times a Padawan won't be able to stand up to the Sith Lord and will quickly be dealt with, which is never really all that fun. Try and find someone around your character's own skill level and you can create an amazing story of equals and possibly develop a story arcing rival or nemesis
  3. Do what you find fun. Invasions usually have multiple objectives, and it is always best to do what you think sounds fun to you. Even in a PvP only invasion, always talk with your potential opponent and see if they want to do something other than just banging glowing sticks together.
  4. Defense wins ties. Enough said on that, but if you care about the map game and the competitive nature of invasions, strive for a tie or win if you're on defense.
  5. Keep it friendly. Easy enough to understand, but don't go out of your way to antagonize people in an invasion, both on your side and the enemy. It never really ends well and just creates drama, which we don't really need.
  6. Have fun. This is the whole point of writing on the site in the first place. It's a fun hobby for all of us, and this is just another outlet for it.

This falls under number five, but don't launch a proton torpedo at your opponent. From experience, it's not fun to be on the receiving end of that. Same goes with other powerful attacks that would otherwise lead to one-hit kills.

Unless of course, y'all discuss it beforehand and shape the events to make it fun for both. Then everything's good.
