Put Em' Up

Location : The Concord
Commander Calderon finished wrapping the last of his athletic tape around his wrists and hands, being sure that the protective wrap wasn't too tight by flexing both hands out and into a fist several times over.

He'd bring his gaze up from his hands to a small viewport ahead of him. There wasn't much for sightseeing out in empty space, at least not in this sector. The Nebel class frigate drifted slowly, its skeleton crew on standby for the 'main' shift of crewmembers to awaken from their slumber before their next patrol route or mission.

However, Valkren was not anywhere close to sleeping. The past few weeks away from Kashyyyk had called for some new routines to keep them busy. This was a tough idea to go through with, as the Concord wasn't designed for leisure; so after the arrival of Valkren's special forces attachment to the vessel, many of them took their own time 'customizing' supply rooms and bays within the ship.

This room had been one of two workout areas. This one specifically reminded the commander of the 'pit' back on Kashyyyk, an outdoor gym smack dab in the middle of Ranger HQ. Although here, the rangers had added a sparing mat in the middle of the bay. Weights and extra equipment lined the walls, with hooks in several locations spaced out to attach dummy bags for exercises.

Valkren did use this room for his own personal workouts, but more than often he had taken up a workout partner in [member="Tyrell Caphey"]. The two had made a habit of fitting in special sparring and boxing exercises whenever they could.

In truth, the routine was one of the things that helped keep the commander pushing through the extended patrol routes.

The commander patted his fists together a few times while walking over towards one of the equipment racks, giving the items available a brief scan over during his wait for the team medic.

Back aboard The Concord, much were the same. The Nebel class frigate was beginning to feel like a home away from home, the Ranger HQ back on Kashyyyk. As everyone else, his squad had done what they could to furnish their quarters and personalize by their individual bunks. Even though they often wore armor resembeling the Old Republics clone army, they were free indivudials with different stories to tell, and that broadness brought them a great complemention and close bonds.

It was not many days ago that he had landed his personal u-wing in the hangars of the Antarian Ranger frigate, coming back from a well needed vacation on Spira with a certain jedi healer. With the The Concord being on stand-by in deep space, the detatchment of rangers had to keep themselves entertained. Weapon maintenance, mind stimulating card games, recording holo-messages back home and physical exercise were just a couple of occupations that kept the morale up and at the same time kept them sharp. Commander Calderon and sergeant Caphey had decided to spend some time with the latter today.

The sliding door of the workout room opened with a hissing sound and the sergeant entered, clad in a black function t-shirt, a pair of navy shorts and dark training shoes with a white towel thrown over his shoulder. A quick glance around confirmed that they had the hall for themselves for the moment.

''Commander...'' he uttered shortly and gave a casual salute to the man, meeting him by the equippment racks.

''I see The Concord is still very much alive and kicking, that's good... What did we think about today?'' he continued and examined the rack as the commander did it.

Valkren was relieved to see his friend hadn't bailed on their workout, because if the medic wouldn't have shown up then he might have just went with getting some extra sleep. He'd offer a quick nod in response to Caphey's greeting, before looking back to the equipment rack.

"Yeah..The Captain likes to keep this ship moving, that's for sure. Between you and me, I think he's putting in a little extra effort to make things tighter around here now that we're onboard."

He didn't know if it was possible for the Captain of the Concord to get any more strict than he had been during his team's arrival..But then again, he didn't know him whatsoever before their stationing there.

"I was thinking maybe some drills, hand to hand. Then some light sparring? Nothing too serious, don't want you to knock me on my ass, yeah?" Valkren smirked, reaching up and grabbing two gloves that were designed with pads to take oncoming blows from another. He'd motion for his friend to grab a set of gloves, before walking towards the center of the matt.

Before anything, he really needed to stretch. With the lack of real combat missions recently, his body was feeling tight. He'd toss his 'gloves' to the floor, before turning back towards Tyrell to begin his own stretching.

"So, heard you took some time away from the Concord?" During his inquiry, Valk' would pull his arm behind his head, wincing as he stretched.

Caphey just smiled at the comment about the captains efforts to keep the Concord tidy and fully functional when the Antarian Rangers were onboard. He could imagine Valkren, with all the right, setting high demands on their base of operation when they were away from Kashyyyk.

After hanging the towel over the rack, he grabbed the set of gloves as motioned by Valkren and followed him up to the matt.

''Oh, I wouldn't dare knocking a commanding officer on his ass!'' he said with a chuckle to the modest commanders comment.

He dropped the gloves by his side and begun to stretch opposite the commander. Starting with rolling the neck, then the shoulders and then the arms and so forth.

''Yeah... Me and Samara, you know... the jedi healer, went to Spira to rest ourselves up. From the way words spread on this ship, I thought everyone knew that?''

''I could realy recommend the place, if you've never been there before! Weren't you and Osmari into something? Take her there?'' he continued and finished the stretching, picking the gloves up.
