- Based upon the Incinerator-class of yore, the Hellflare generates bolts of fusion plasma mixed with exotic particles, then wraps them in a magnetic "sheath" before accelerating them to immense velocities.
- Hellfire: Not only are the Hellflare's bolts powerful and fast-moving, but the plasma remains after impact - owing to its strange blend of fusion plasma and exotic particles, it is able to "stick" to anything from flesh, to armour, to shielding, with predictably dangerous results.
- Block me Not: Carrying significantly more force than a blaster bolt, the Hellflare can be blocked by a lightsaber, but the exercise is straining, and the plasma is liable to splatter everywhere once its magnetic "sheath" is ruptured.
- Collateral Damage: The Hellflare is not a subtle weapon - it never really dissipates harmlessly, instead its magnetic "sheath" collapses after three hundred metres or so, splattering fusion plasma everywhere. For obvious reasons, using it aboard starships can be hazardous.
- Exotic Ammunition: Like the Sunfury, the Hellflare uses Glimmersteel Fusion Cells - not expensive, per se, but rarely found expect with especially well-stocked arms dealers. More problematically, the cells must be replaced individually when reloading, a rather time-consuming prospect in a firefight.
- Firing Speed: Lacking any automatic or burst fire modes, the Hellflare can only be fired once every second or so.
Inspired by the earlier Sunfury, the Hellflare is bigger, badder, and somehow even more inhumane - its fusion plasma bolts burn hellishly hot, persisting for minutes after impact and sticking to their victims, remaining even should their victim be bathed in water; high-voltage electricity will nullify the exotic particles and subsequently its stickiness, making the substance simply fall off, though it will retain its temperature.
Given its cruel nature, it should come as no surprise that Glimmersteel immediately began marketing the weapon to the Sith Empire and similarly "pragmatic" entities, among them Erakhis, homeworld of its parent company.
